Mr. Arbogast was born May 29, 1925, in Cherry Grove and was the son of the late Archie Arbogast and Suttie Bennet Arbogast.

He was a member of Big Run Presbyterian Church and was a sawyer.

Survivors include his companion of 27 years, Elaine Turner; a daughter, Jennifer Sponaugle of Circleville; four sons, Archie Ray Arbogast of Dunmore, Roy Lee Arbogast of Goldsboro, NC, Roy Lee Ellinger of Moyers, and Daniel Arbogast of Cherry Grove; a sister, Hazel Malcolm of Spotswood, VA; three grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Susie and Lisa; and two sisters, Clara White and Zettie Bennett.

The Rev. Mark McAllister conducted the funeral Wednesday at Big Run Presbyterian Church, Cherry Grove.  Burial will be at Cherry Grove Cemetery by Basagic Funeral Home, Franklin.

Ethel Susan Hall, 85, of Basye, VA, formerly of Fairmont, died on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

She was born on Jan. 9, 1921, in Cherry Grove, the daughter of the late Early Thomas and Monna Roxie Sponaugle Judy.

Mrs. Hall retired from Westinghouse Electric in 1978 and was the proprietor of Hobby Hall Ceramics until 2003.

Her husband, Robert Oliver Hall, preceded her in death on May 7, 2003.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda Yergey of Basye, VA, where Mrs. Hall had been making her home, and Susan and David Jones of Jeffersonton, VA; four brothers, Kermit Judy of Franklin, Earl Judy of Castleton, VA, Gayle and Hester Judy of Luray, VA, and Gary and Carol Faye Judy of Lexington, VA; three sisters, Bernice Fortner of Fairmont, Ina and Richard Kuehl of Pine Hurst, NC, and Patty and Harold Sponaugle of Franklin; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, George Yergey and his wife, Nancy, and their children, Kyle, Trevor and Harrison of Gainesville, VA, Michael Yergey and his wife, Mary of Bristow, VA,  Jami Cropp and her husband, Jeff, and their son, Brennan of Bridgeport, and Stephanie Vendetti and her husband, Vince, and their children, Frank, Oscar and Lucy of King George, VA; three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Judy of Millwood, VA, Thelma Judy of Kennewick, WA, and Helen Mary Tartell of Etna, OH; and several nieces and nephews.  

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Guy and Richard Judy.

Graveside services were held Oct. 2, at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Westover, with the Rev. William Nabors officiating.

Domico Funeral Home, Fairmont, was in charge of funeral arrangements.  

Kennie C. Kimble

Kennie C. Kimble, 92, of Upper Tract, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, at his home.

Mr. Kimble was born Dec. 18, 1913, in Smoke Hole and was the son of the late Vincent and Della Susan (Kimble) Kimble.

He was a sand and gravel plant operator and was a member of the Upper Tract United Methodist Church and Local No. 639 Teamsters’ Union.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mary Rebecca (Kimble) Kimble.

Also surviving are a son, Clyde Junior Kimble of Sunnyvale, TX; three daughters, Treva Margaret Smith of St. Leonard, MD, Judy Fae Laurie of Chesapeake Beach, MD, and Debra Kay Heinhorst of Henrico, NC; two half sisters, Alice Ketterman of Maysville, and Zola Swick of Petersburg; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He also was preceded in death by one son, Carroll Keith Kimble; one daughter, Frances Ann Shira; an aunt who raised him, Nettie Kimble; two brothers, William and Olie Kimble; two sisters, Rosei Kisamore and Violet Harman; three half sisters, Goldie Alt, Hadie Belle Kimble and Wilda Kimble; and two half brothers, Golden Kimble and Mervin Kimble.  

The Rev. Gary Phillips conducted the funeral Wednesday at Upper Tract United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Cherry Hill Cemetery in Upper Tract by Kimble Funeral Home, Franklin.  .

Ernest Puffenberger, 94

Ernest Puffenberger, 94, of Moorefield died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006, at his home. 

Mr. Puffenberger was born June 10, 1912, in Pendleton County and was the son of the late Reuben Puffenberger and Ida MItchell Puffenberger

He and his wife owned and operated Puffenberger Jewelry Store in Moorefield for over 70 years.  He attended Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church in Moorefield and was a member of the Moorefield Church of the Brethren.  

Mr. Puffenberger was a World War II army veteran.  He was the last charter member of Moorefield Lions Club and was a member of the Moorefield Masonic Lodge No. 29, the Moorefield VFW and American Legion. 

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Weese Puffenberger; a daughter, Marcia Eye of Jacksonville, FL; a son, Craig A. Puffenberger of Bedford Corners, MY; two sisters, Lela Kuykendall and Roma Weller, both of Washington, DC; and two grandchildren.  

Pastors Ed Craft and Ted Osgood conducted the funeral Friday at Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church.  Burial followed at the Olivet Cemetery in Moorefield with full military honors by the Moorefield Veterans Honor Guard. 

Moorefield Veterans Honor Guard conducted a memorial service on Thursday.

Mr. Warner was born May 2, 1908, in Smith Creek and was the son of the late Walter Warner and Virginia Mauzy Warner.

He worked in the Baltimore, MD, shipyards and was a logger for Simmons Sawmill.

He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  

His wife, Norma Simmons Warner, preceded him in death April 26, 1997. They were married June 28, 1941.

Survivors include two daughters, Ramona Luckel and Anna Lee Tesi, both of Franklin; a granddaughter, Nina Ryan and husband, John;  and a great-granddaughter, Rachel Ryan.

He was also preceded in death by six brothers, Dice, Verlin, Dyerle, Clifton, Elmer and Boyd Warner; and four sisters, Beulah Judy, Sally Tingler, Mary Olin Warner and Eula Warner.  

The Rev. Calvin Bailey and Elder David Hartman conducted the funeral Monday at the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin. Burial was at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin.

She was born in Reed’s Creek, on March 9,1935, and was a daughter of Tressie (Thompson) Bridges of Bridgewater, VA, and the late Mason E. Waggy.

Mrs. Mongold worked at Metro Pants and for Marshalls. She attended St. Andrews United Church of Christ.

She was united in marriage on March 27, 1953, to Del Roy Swartz Mongold, who preceded her in death on April 21, 2003.

Surviving are a daughter, Pamela Harvey and husband, Dale, of Dayton, VA; son-in-law, Dennis Bridges of Bridgewater; two sisters, Shirley W. Carr of Harrisonburg, VA, and Joan W. Ward of Clover Hill, VA; two brothers, Roy E. Waggy of Dayton, and Earl R. Waggy of Bridgewater; three grandchildren, Tiffany Layman and husband, D.J., Justin L. Bridges, and Ethan Cord Harvey and one great-granddaughter, Alexis Cole Layman.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Bridges, and brother, George Waggy.

A graveside service was conducted at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens Friday, with the Rev. Doyle Payne officiating.
