Eloise Grace Ruddle Richard, died October 2, 2001, at her home in Lexington, KY. She was born September 30, 1925, in Annville, PA, the daughter of the late Newton "Dick" Decatur Ruddle and Mary Dunkle Ruddle of the Ruddle and Franklin communities.

She received her education in the public schools of Pendleton County and before her marriage, lived in Washington, D.C., where she was employed a number of years by the National Geographic Society.

She wed Donald L. Richard of Bowling Green, OH, a professor of economics at the University of Missouri. They later moved to Lexington, KY, where her husband was a professor at the University of Kentucky. He died suddenly, leaving her with four young children, ranging in age from eleven to four years.

Rearing her children and seeing them happy and well-educated was the focus of her life. Her nurturing love and tenacity of purpose are evidenced in their characters and successful careers.

She is survived by her children: Beverly Cook and husband, Jerome of Palatine, IL; Donald Richard of New York City, NY; Dr. John Richard and wife, Jennifer of Lexington, KY; Susan Richard and fiance, Andrew Tegtmeier of Lexington, KY; and her six grandchildren, Alexandra and Vincent Cook, and Tyler, Jake, Luke and John Clay Richard.

She is also survived by sisters, Helen McGhee, Rockville, MD; Mary Lee and Carolyn of Franklin; Joann Rinaldi, Rockville, MD; and Nancy Walker, Vienna, VA. Surviving brothers are Maurice D. Ruddle, Bassett, VA, and Newton D. Ruddle, Franklin. A brother, Stanley Ralph preceded her in death in 1940.

A service of Witness to the Resurrection was conducted by her minister, the Reverend Chris Roseland at the Beaumont Presbyterian Church. Internment was at Gibsonburg Union Cemetery in Gibsonburg, OH.

George E. Cromer, 88, Waynesboro, VA, died Friday evening, Sept. 21, 2001, at his residence.

Mr. Cromer was born Jan. 3, 1913, in Spruce, a son of the late Joseph and Mary Mason Cromer.

He was a member of Christchurch. He started barbering in Boyer, in 1934. He moved to Waynesboro, VA, in 1950, where he later owned and operated Peoples Barber Shop on Wayne Avenue, Linden Avenue, and Park Road. He also had worked at the Crompton Company in Waynesboro, VA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Margie Cromer, his first wife, Ruby Burns Cromer; four sisters; and two brothers.

Survivors include his second wife, Mary Cromer; three sons, George Cromer, Jr., and his wife, Carolyn of Louisiana, Jack Cromer, and his wife, Betty of Elkins, and Nyal Cromer, and his wife, Barbara of Waynesboro, VA; one daughter, Aleda Gochenour, and her husband, Robert of Crimora, VA; one sister, Wanda Hausser of Phoenix, AZ; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A service was conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Funeral Service by Rev. Alton Wilson. Burial followed at Augusta Memorial Park.

Worth Jasper Armentrout, age 63 years, a well-known farmer of the Job area and a resident of Job, departed this life Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at the Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown. He had been in declining health and death was attributed to complications from diabetes.

Mr. Armentrout was born August 3, 1938, at Elkins, a son of the late Jasper Armentrout and Sally Mauzy Armentrout.

He attended the schools of Harman. He was a farmer and a member of the Cattleman’s Association.

His life companion, Josie Katherine Mullennex, preceded him in death, Nov. 12, 1996.

Surviving are one step-son, Tom Teter, Job; one step-daughter, Margaret Adamson, and her husband, Rupert "Squirt" Adamson, Job; seven step-grandchildren, Patrick, Matt and Amanda Adamson, Jeff Teter and wife, Tracy, Rebecca Propst and husband, Jeff, Jill Taylor and husband, Robert, and Tonya Lewis and husband, John; and several cousins, aunts and uncles.

Final rites were conducted at the Lohr-Basrb-Vance Funeral Home in Elkins, with the Revs. Eli Hostetler, Joe Mininger and Earl Bible officiating. Graveside services followed at the Armentrout-Mullennex cemetery near Job.

The family suggest that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the American Diabetes Association, Inc., PO Box 1115, Dunbar, WV 25064 or to the charity of your choice.

Jennings B. "Tom" Brown, 72, passed away on October 2, 2001.

He was born in Riverton and was a longtime resident of Middleburg, FL.

Mr. Brown was retired from Carolina Freight. He had served in the US Army as a Paratrooper in the 82^nd Airborne Division. He belonged to the Woodstock Park Lodge for 38 years and was a 32^nd degree Mason.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ruby Jane Brown of Middleburg, FL; three sons, James Campbell Brown of Orange Park, FL, and Wayne Bryant Brown of Martinez, GA; a daughter, Debra Lee Brown Wolfe of Orange Brown Wolfe of Orange Park, FL; two brothers, James C. Brown, Jr., and Bond Dove; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday at the Holly Hill Funeral Home in Middleburg, FL. Interment followed in the Holly Hill Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.

Melvin C. Borrow, 81, Burlington, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.

Mr. Borror was born Feb. 20, 1920, at Landes and was a son of the late Jesse and Rebecca A. (Ayres) Borror.

He was retired as a mechanic and welder with the B&O Railroad with 35-½ years of service. He was a US Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the Bonnieview Apostolic Chapel, Keyser, and the Nancy Hanks Post #3518, VFW, Keyser.

Surviving family members include his wife, Hazel I. Hedrick Borrow; two sons, Curtis J. Borror and wife, Marcia, and Carl H. Borror and wife, Margaret, all of Burlington; one daughter, Iva J. Poling, Burlington; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Brison, Sylvester and Everett Borror, and one sister, Ethel Borror.

Funeral services were conducted at the Bonnieview Apostolic Chapel on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Revs. James Williamson and Daniel Garlitz officiating. Interment was in the Borror family cemetery, Burlington.
