Ralph A. Daniels, 92  

Ralph Arnold Daniels, 92, of Beverly died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, at his home. He had been in declining health.

Mr. Daniels was born Monday, Jan. 27, 1913, at Files Creek, Beverly, and was the son of the late Henry Harper Daniels and Vie Ellen Isner Daniels.

Ralph attended Millstone School at Files Creek and Beverly High School and was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific. He had worked for the Dutch Oven Bakery and Painter & Wood, was an auto mechanic at Smith Chevrolet and Foster Chevrolet and had retired in 1979 from Craig’s Auto Parts. 

He was a member of the Randolph Lodge No. 55, AF & AM and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was a member of the Osiris Shrine of Wheeling, the Tygarts Valley Shrine Club, H. W. Daniels Post #29 American Legion, Tygarts Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elkins Lodge No. 116 IOOF, Beverly Volunteer Fire Department and the Beverly United Methodist Church.

On May 6, 1939, at Monterey, Va., he was married to the former Elva Louise Zickefoose, who preceded him in death June 4, 2001. 

Surviving are three brothers, John L. Daniels and Dale H. Daniels, both of Beverly, and Warren Thomas Daniels of Elkins; two sisters, Mildred Ervin of Hollywood, Md., and Anna Marie Kittle of Elkins; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Emmel Bennett of Cherry Grove; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death were one son, David Lee Daniels; one brother, Charles Daniels; and four sisters, Opal Ash, Iva Irene Vanscoy, Gertrude Kile and Willajean Hamrick.
The Rev. Donald L. Fitzwater conducted the funeral Saturday in the Lohr and Barb Funeral Home in Elkins.  Burial was in the Beverly Cemetery in Beverly, where the Randolph Lodge 55 AF & AM will conduct Masonic graveside rites. Anita P. Wright, 71

Anita Puffenbarger Wright, 71, of Staunton, VA, died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg, VA. 

Mrs. Wright was born Nov. 21, 1933, in Sugar Grove and was the daughter of the late Earl and Hazel Wilfong Puffenbarger. 

Prior to retirement , she was the director of the Staunton Senior Center, Where she was employed 19 years and was a strong advocate for the rights of senior citizens.  She began her career as an elementary school teacher.  She was a member of the Loch WIllow Presbyterian Church, where she had served as choir director for 34 years and had also served as church organist. 

Her husband, Howard Eugene Wright, preceded her in death. 

Surviving are four children, Gene Wright of Fort Defiance, VA, Lynne Wright of Staunton, VA,  Teri Goldberg of Afton, VA, and Eric Wright of Stuarts Draft, VA; two brothers, Norman Puffenbarger and Carl Puffenbarger, both of Bridgewater , VA; two sisters , Elaine Fitzgerald of Staunton, VA, and Carol Hensley of McGaheysville, VA; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.  

The Revs. Temple Meyers and Reed Hopkins conducted the funeral Saturday at Loch Willow Presbyterian Church.

Bear Funeral Home, Churchville, VA, was in charge of funeral arrangements.
