Richard Lee Crigler

Richard Lee Crigler, 81, of Richmond, IN, died Monday Sept. 5, 2005, at Reid Hospital.  

He was born June 28, 1924, in Franklin to Harry and Nettie Arbogast Crigler and resided in this community for over 60 years. 

Mr. Crigler graduated from the Romney Deaf School in Romney, where he played football and wrestled.  He worked for Ivan Ray for 25 years, for Howard martin, learning the heating and air conditioning business, worked independently for Marathon for several years, for Hirst-Richmond Heating for seven years, was self-employed from 1974 to 1988 and worked part-time for Southside Heating from June 1988 to March 1993.  He was a member of sylvan Nook Church of Christ and enjoyed hunting, fishing, especially ice fishing and was a sports fan. 

Survivors include his wife, Pearl Lucille "Lou" Hartman Crigler to whom he was married in June 1945; daughters, Nancy Lee Crigler and Patricia and her husband, Vern Stanley, all of Bassett, VA; son Richard "Rick" Crigler of Richmond, IN; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; five stepgrandchildren; 15 stepgreat-grandchildren; three stepgreat-great-grandchildren; a sister, Gold Wimer of Franklin; and many nieces and nephews and friends.  

He was preceded in death by his son, Tommy Leo Crigler in 1955; two great-grandsons; stepgranddaughter; a sister, Fanny Crigler;and four brothers Curtis, Virgil, Edward and Harry J. Crigler

Funeral service was held Sept. 9 at Doan & Mills Funeral Home Richmond, IN, with ministers Mike Ballard and John Hollis officiating.  Entombment was in the Earlham Memorial Mausoleum.

Gracie E. George 

Gracie E. George, 97, of Riverton die Friday, Sept. 9, 2005, at Grant Memorial Hosptial in Petersburg. 

Mrs. George was born Aug. 13, 1908, in Simoda and was the daughter of the late charles A. Vandevander and Christina Lambert Vandevander.  

She was a homemaker and a cook at Circleville schools for 12 years.  She was a United Brethren by faith. 

Her husband, Walter E. George, preceded her in death Oct. 27, 1997. 

Surviving are four sons, Wayne George of Riverton, Junior George of Joppa, MD, Tommy George of Petersburg and Toney George of Woodbridge, VA; three sisters, Georgia Strawder and Jessie Vandevander, both of Franklin and Ethel Wimer of Circleville; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. 

Pastor Tommy George conducted the funeral Monday at the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.  Burial was at North Fork Memorial Cemetery in Riverton.

Franklin Clark, Jr., 39

Franklin D. "Pete" Clark, Jr., 39, of Baltimore, MD, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at Stella Maris Hospice Center in Baltimore, MD.

Mr. Clark was born Aug. 5, 1966, in Baltimore, MD, and was the son of the late Franklin Clark and Louise Jacobs Clark. 

He was a mechanic. 

Survivors include his former wife, Laura Sturgill of Brandywine; three daughters, Amanda Clark and Ashley Clark, both of Brandywine, and Shannon Kuykendall and husband, Jason of Fort Seybert; a son, Frankie Clark of Brandywine; two sisters, Patricia Clark of Bradenton, FL, and Judy Vance of Baltimore, MD; and two grandchildren, Malayah Kuykenadall and Mikhi Kuykendall. 

The Rev. Richard Lintz conducted the funeral Saturday at the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin. Burial was at the Rexrode Family cemetery in Fort Seybert.

Arvil L. Lambert, 66

Arvil "Lee" lambert, 66, of Mount Crawford, VA, died unexpectedly on Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at the University of Virginia MEdical Center in Charlottesville, VA. 

He was born Oct. 22, 1938, in Pendleton County and as the son of Hancel D. and the late Clara M. Lambert. 

Mr. Lambert had lived in the Mount Crawford, VA, area for the past 19 years following his retirement from the U.S. Air Force.  During his 29 years in the military, he served in Germany, Florida, Japan, Utah, California and many other locations in the states.  

Mr. Lambert attended school at Bridgewater High School and completed his studies in the Air Force with two years of college.  He was currently employed by Rockingham County as a maintenance worker. He was a member of the VFW, AARP, National Rifle Association and the Masonic Lodge. 

He was an active member of the Mount Pleasant Church of the Brethren, where he served faithfully as an usher, past board member, sound technician and was a member of the Pathfinder Class. 

He is survived by one son, Arvil Lee Lambert, Jr., and wife, Tamera of Florence, AL; one daughter, Tangela D. Pitts of Mobile, AL; two sisters, Juanita G. Campbell and husband Everett "Jim" of Harrisonburg, VA Charlotte M. Campbell and Husband, Lurty, Jr., of Mount Crawford, VA; one brother Hancel "Danny" Lambert, Jr., and wife, JoAnn of Mount Crawford, VA; five grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Burial was private with full military honors. A memorial service was held at the Mount Pleasant Church of the Brethren on Sept. 9. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mount Pleasant Church of the Brethren for Hurricane Katrina relief and should be mailed to 2788 Taylor Spring Lane, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
