Ada Rose Petersen, 79

Ada Rose Petersen, 79, died July 16, 2001, at the Kennewick, WA Life Care Center after an extended illness.

She was born September 3, 1921, in Fairmont to Benjamin and Edith Cox. Some of her early life was spent in Franklin, while her father was working for the local power company.

She was a retired visual trainer and had spent most of her retirement enjoying activities with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by both of her parents, an infant son and two husbands; Guy Judy formerly of the Smith Creek area and Floyd Petersen.

She is survived by her two sons and their wives, James and Bonnie Judy, John and Suzanne Judy, all of Kennewick, WA; seven grandchildren, Jill Thoelke, Kari Judy, Jay Judy, Janna Judy, Darin Judy Corrin Judy and Derek Judy; and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Friday, July 20, 2001, at 11 a.m. at city View Cemetery in Pasco, WA. Mueller's Chapel of the Falls was in charge of the arrangements.

It was her wish that memorials be directed to the Bethlehem Lutheran School, 1409 S. Garfield, Kennewick, WA 99337.

 

Alice Jo Lloyd, 59

Alice Jo Lloyd, 59, Blackstone, VA, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001.

Mrs. Lloyd was the daughter of the late Clyde and Hazel Hoover.

She was a native of Brandywine and moved to the Bellefonte Grande Community near Blackstone, Va, in 1965. She was an active member of the Rocky Hill United Methodist church and Bellefonte Grange. She devoted her life to the service of her family, church and community.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Samuel V. "Bid" Lloyd; five children , Mary Lea Quig and Amelia Prosise, both of Blackstone, VA, Wanda Cary and Sam Lloyd, Both of Crewe, VA, and Jerry Hoover, Alexandria, Va, and five grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her only sister, Mary George.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Hamner-McMillian Funeral Home in Blackstone, VA. Burial followed at the Pine Grove Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Amelia, VA.

Robert "Bob" Scott, 62

Robert "Bob" Scott, 62, of Ridgeley died Sept 2, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital.

Born Nov. 15, 1938, in Elkins, he was the son of the late Robert Emmett and Verna Louise (Phares) Scott.

Mr. Scott was a 1956 graduate of Ridgeley High School and had served in the U.S. Army. He had 26 years service at the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company and had worked 11 years at Memorial Hospital. He also worked part-time for the Upchurch Funeral Homes, Cumberland, MD. He was a member of Holy Cross United Methodist Church, Gold Star Post 6452, V.F.W., Knobley Mt. Post 136, American Legion, Davis Lodge 51 and A.F. and A.M. He coached Holy Cross Church's men's basketball and was co-founder of the Ridgeley Rams, where he served as coach for 15 years. He attended The Providence Fellowship.

Survivors include his wife, Loraine (Hornick) Scott; two sons, Craig Alan Scott, Short Gap and Robert Brett Scott and wife, Darlene, Cumberland, MD; one daughter, Shari Lea Beitzel and husband, Ronald, Springs, PA; one brother, William "Bill" Scott and wife, Nancy, Ridgeley; one sister, Sharon Bennett and husband, Ted, Myrtle Beach, SC, and nephew of Bonnie and Frazer Murphy of Riverton and Ardath and Herman Murphy and Circleville.

Funeral services were conducted at the Upchurch funeral Home, Cumberland, MD, Sept. 5 with the Rev. Michael Leedom officiating. Interment followed in Restawn Memorial Gardens. Military honors were accorded by the local combined veterans honor guard.

Charles E. Scott II, 35

Charles Edward Scott II, 35, Franklin, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at his home of an apparent heart attack.

Mr. Scott was born Dec. 16, 1965, in Fairfax, VA, and was a son of Edward Charles Scott of Texas, and Ruth Moyers Shrader of Franklin.

He was employed by Dewayne Kisamore as a contruction worker.

On Nov. 15, 1986, he married Connie M. Pennington, who survives.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by his step-father, Walton Shrader, Franklin; and two sisters, Shirley S. Kramer, Melbourne, Australia, and Lisa D. Lewellyn of Rice, MN.

Pastor Dan Ludwick conducted the funeral at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin. Burial was at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin.

Memorial contributions may be made tot he Franklin Rescue Squad of the American Heart Association.
