Earl A. Campbell

Earl A. Campbell, 95, of Franklin died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at his home. 

Mr. Campbell was born Dec. 28, 1909, in Page, NB, and was the son of the late Clarence Campbell and Alice Harvey Campbell. 

He and his wife had worked in jewelry retail sales in Michigan from 1959 to 1996 before retiring to Bradenton, FL, and later moving to Franklin.  He was a Methodist by faith. 

His wife of 73 years, Evelyn Mae Wier Campbell, preceded him in death June 23, 2003. 

Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Arnold of Athens, GA; a son, Thomas E. Campbell of Franklin; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.  

A private memorial service will be conducted at a later date.  

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.  

Allene D. Lohr, 88

Allene Delawder Lohr, 88, of Edom, VA, died Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, at Life Care Center in New Market, VA. 

Mrs. Lohr was born Dec. 25, 1916, in Mathias and was a duaghter of hte late Casper and Serena Delawder Delwawder. 

She was a homemaker and a member of Rader Lutheran Church in Timberville, VA. 

On Oct. 27, 1947, she married Wayne M. Lohr, who preceded her in death Feb. 28, 1996.

Survivors include three sons, David B. Lohr of Edom, VA, Jeffrey S. Lohr of Mathias and Allen W. Lohr of Strasburg, VA; two brothers, Winfred Delawder of Mathias and Harlan Delawder of Timberville, VA; five sisters, Vergie Delawder of Mathias, Wanda Delawder of Franklin, Joyce Fulk and Lenora Delawder, both of Broadway VA, and Treva Flory of Timberville, VA; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Mark Briehl conducted a graveside service Friday at the Rader Lutheran Church Cemetery in Timberville, VA. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rader Lutheran Church, 17072 Raders Church Road, Timberville, VA  22853.   

Grandle Funeral Home, Broadway, VA, was in charge of the funeral arrangements. 

Charles J. Reel, 73 

Charles Junior Reel, ENC, 73, US Navy retired, passed away at this home in Placerville, CA, on Aug. 23 2005. 

Born in Petersburg on march 15, 1932, he was the son of the late John O. and Lottie M. Alt Reel.

He was a lifetime member of USA International Submarine Association, DAV, Fleet Reserve Association, Retired Enlisted Association, National Association of Uniformed Services Fraternal Order of Eagles and United States Submarine Veterans Holland Club.

Surviving are his wife, Kristine Brown,; two sons, Jason Brown of Placerville, CA, and Jeremy Brown of Redding, CA; two grandchildren, five sisters, Louella Rodgers of Annandale, VA, Anna Lee Hesse and Irene Berg, both of Maysville, Nora Reel of Petersburg and Dora Cook of Upper Tract; and several nieces and nephews.    

 Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Ralph C. Alt, William E. Reel and Leander Reel; and one sister Viola Insani.

Military burial was at sea. 

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society . 

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Chapel of the Pines, Placerville, CA.  

Eva Elizabeth Sponaugle 

Eva Elizabeth Sponaugle, 84, of Circleville died Monday at Grant memorial Hospital, Petersburg. 

Born Sept. 7, 1920, at Upper Timber Ridge, she was the daughter of the late Esta Maude nelson and Isaac Dice Vint. 

Her husband, Coy Sponaugle, preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 2001. 

She was a homemaker and a member of the Circleville United Methodist Church. 

Surviving are one son, Oliver Sponaugle of Circleville, and one grandson, Glenn Sponaugle of Franklin.  

Also preceding her in death were one brother, Eston Guy Vint, and one sister, Delphia Bennett.  

Graveside services will be held today at 11 a.m. at the Sponaugle Family Cemetery, Circleville, with the Rev. Earl Bible officiating. 

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice. 

The family received friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Basagic Funeral Home, Franklin.

Joseph F. Horst, 67

Rev. Joseph Franklin Horst, 67, passed away Thursday August 25, 2005, at a Pensacola FL, hospital.

Mr. Horst was a native of Dayton, VA, and a resident of Byrneville, FL, since 1967.  He was a pastor for the Byrneville Mennonite church, owner of Horst Paper hanging company, state coordinator for the Mennonite Disaster Service, treasurer for the Gulf Coast district of Mennonite Churches and enjoyed Traveling. 

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Martha Horst of Byrneville, FL; his father, Lloyd Horst of Dayton, VA; two sons, Kenneth and wife, Ann Horst of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Stanley and wife, Debbie Horst of Lyndhurst, VA, two daughters, Noreen Horst of Byrneville, FL, and Norma and Husband, Lyndon Halteman of Walnut Hill, FL; seven grandsons; two granddaughters; four brothers, James Horst of Weyers Cave, VA, Amos Horst of Harrisonburg, VA, Enos Horst of Franklin and Reuben Horst of Dayton, VA; two sisters, Rachel Schrock of Dayton, VA, and Anna Miller of Middlebury, IN.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Horst.

Funeral services were held Sunday at the Mennonite Christian Fellowship Church with Bishop J.D. Landis and Rev. James Weber officiating.  Burial followed at Byrneville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mennonite Disaster Relief, 700 South Trammel Street, Atmore, AL 36502, c/o Leonard Hursh. 

Eastside Chapel Funeral Home in Florida was in charge of funeral arrangements.
