Ella G. Wine, 91

Ella Grace Nesselrodt High Wine, 91, of Timberville, VA, died Aug. 12, 2008, at TimberView Crossing in Timberville, VA.

She was born May 7, 1917, in Fort Seybert and was a daughter of the late Simon Phillip and Anna Susan Payne Nesselrodt.

She was part owner of Timberville Shoe Shop and a member of Timberville Church of the Brethren.

Her first husband, Aubrey Burr High, whom she married May 18, 1935, preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 1963. Her second husband, Dennis Wine, whom she married May 26, 1974, preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 1997.

Surviving are two sons, Phillip R. High of Grottoes, VA, Harold E. High of Morris, AL; a daughter, Anna C. Rotruck of Gerrardstown;a daughter-in-law, Evelyn High of Harrisonburg, VA;  two step-daughters, Barbara Parker of California, Bonnie Wine of Virginia; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald G. High.

Pastor Bernard Fuska conducted a funeral service Thursday at Timberville Church of the Brethren. Burial was in the Timberville cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.

Paul B. Simmons, 90

Paul Burton Simmons, 90, of Harrisonburg, VA, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at Oak Lea Nursing Home.

He was born Dec. 24, 1917, in Moyers,  and was a son of the late Pearl and Dora Elizabeth (Moyers) Simmons.

Mr. Simmons was a member of St. Paul's Independent Lutheran Church and was a past member of West Rockingham Ruritan Club. He was a poultry farmer and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

He is survived by five nieces; a nephew; eight great-nieces and four great-nephews, including Bryan Sandridge, with whom he made his home and who he considered his son.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Blanche Shrader and Leona Hoover.

A funeral service was conducted at Monday at Paul's Independent Lutheran Church with Rev. Jerry Smith officiating.  Burial was at St. Paul Cemetery.

David R. Jones, 71

David R. Jones, 71, of Richmond, Va, and formerly of Franklin died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, at his home.

Mr. Jones was born April 6, 1937, and was a son of the late Helen Priest Jones and Lewis Jones.

He was a machine operator for Phillip Morris and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

His wife of 50 years, Patricia Ann Ketterman Jones survives.

Also surviving are are daughter, Kathryn J. Tollison, and her daughter Jacqueline J. Baird, and their daughter, Marina; grandchildren Chad and Sarah Tollison, and their father, Jody Tollison; a sister, Florence Kathryn Keith and her husband, James E. Keith; and a brother Charles Landon Jones and his wife Danese.

A funeral service was held Friday at the Morrissett Funeral Home in Richmond, VA.  A graveside service was held Saturday at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin with military graveside services by members of the Pendleton county Honor Guard.

Local arrangements are by Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.
