Eleanor
L. Hartman
Eleanor
Louise Hartman, 70, of Manassas, VA, died Thursday, August 12, 2010, at Virginia
Hospital Center in Arlington, VA.
She
was born May 10, 1940, at Circleville, and was the daughter of the late George
Jacob Nelson and Clara Sue Arbaugh Nelson.
Mrs.
Hartman dedicated her life to her family, children and grandchildren.
She was a loving housewife, mother, and child-care provider for many
children throughout her lifetime. She
touched many lives with her smile and compassion for others.
She was a homemaker and loving mother and a member of the Manassas Church
of the Brethren, where she served as a deacon and nursery worker for over 18
years.
On
November 21, 1959, she married Bill Hartman, who survives.
Also
surviving are two daughters, Billie Hartman-DeVooght (& husband, Lawrence)
of Franklin, TN, and Bobbie Hartman-Carl (& husband, John) of Manassas Park,
VA; one sister, Judith Bland of Baltimore, MD; four brothers, Tom Warner of
Moyers, Wendell Nelson and Billy Nelson both of Franklin; and Richard Nelson of
Roanoke, VA; five grandchildren, Shawna Marie Carl, Shavon Ashley Carl, Susan
Elaine Carl, John Robert Carl, Jr., and Joshua Ryan Carl; and five
great-grandchildren, Saniya Lynae Thornton, Savina Simmone Thornton, Devin Chase
Thornton, Jr., Amarius Antonio Tibbs and Sareyiah Louise Ellis.
She
was preceded in death by two siblings, Bobby Arbaugh and Dovie Welton.
Funeral
services were held Sunday, August 15, at the Kimble Funeral Home Chapel in
Franklin with Pastor Sam Harper officiating.
Burial
followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Franklin.

Earl
D. Hinkle, 86
Earl
D. Hinkle, 86, of New Market, VA, passed away early Wednesday morning, Aug. 11,
2010, at the Veterans Medical Center in Martinsburg.
He
was born at Rough Run on Sept. 8, 1923, and was a son of the late Floyd and
Viola Smith Hinkle.
Mr.
Hinkle served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was a retired
plumber and electrician with James Zerkel, Inc. of Mount Jackson, VA.
He
was a member of the Massanutten VFW Post 2447 in Edinburg, VA, and the
Hassler-Sutphin American Legion of New Market, VA.
He was also a member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church, west of New Market,
VA.
Mr.
Hinkle was married twice. His first
wife, Frances Lloyd Hinkle, died Jan. 21, 1979.
His second wife, Beulah Esther Simmons Hinkle, survives and is a patient
at Grant Count Assisted Living in Petersburg.
Also
surviving are two sons, Earl M. Hinkle and wife, Gwen, and Steven L. Hinkle, all
of New Market, VA; a daughter, Pamela Ryman and husband, Orville, of New Market,
VA; two step-sons, Ronald Neely of Madison, VA, and Donnie Neely of Petersburg;
two sisters, Estamae Derrow of Maryland and Charlotte Whetzel of New Market, VA;
a brother, Elmo Hinkle of Timberville, VA; five grandchildren, Amy Proctor, Jill
Seal, Matt Hinkle, Lee Hinkle and Angie Pool; and seven great-grandchildren,
Emma Proctor, Olivia Proctor, Eli Proctor, Allie Pool, Evie Hinkle, Stella Long
and Nicole Seal.
The
Rev. Matthew Diehl conducted a funeral service Friday at St. Martin's Lutheran
Church. Burial followed in the
Zirkle Cemetery with graveside rites being conducted by members of the
Massanutten VFW Post 2447.
Memorial
donations may be made to the New Market Rescue Squad, Box 399, New Market, VA

Funeral
arrangements were entrusted to the Theis Funeral Home, New Market, VA.
Josephine
M. Foltz
Josephine
Mitchell Foltz of Mechanicsville, VA, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug.
10, 2010.
She
was the daughter of the late Ernest L. and Ruth K. Mitchell of Sugar Grove.
Mrs.
Foltz was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and Past Matron Fellowship Chapter,
140 O.E.S.
Her
husband of 56 years, Clarence Eugene Foltz, survives.
Also
surviving are a daughter, Sarah Foltz Vaughan and husband, David; a son, Ernest
Wayne Foltz and wife, Jan; two granddaughters, Julie Dankel and Jillian Dankel;
grandson, Chad Foltz; and two sisters, Norene M. Lambert and Betty M. McGahey,
both of Harrisonburg, VA.
The
funeral service was held Friday at Christ Lutheran Church.
Interment followed at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Sugar Grove.
In
lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or the American
Cancer Society.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, Mechanicsville, VA.
