Earl L. Sponaugle 

Earl L. Sponaugle, 80, of Franklin died Wednesday, August 3, 2005, near his home as the result of a four-wheeler accident.

He was born on April 25, 1925, at Cave and was the son of the late Harry K. Sponaugle and Ollie Harper Sponaugle. 

He was a farmer and had worked at Franklin Home Service and Hanover Shoe.  He was a member of the Franklin Church of God, Gideons International and a past member of the Franklin Ruritan Club.

On Dec. 11, 1946, he married Jean Hevener Sponaugle, who preceded him in death on February 13, 1987.

On Oct 23, 1987, he married Mary Mae Hively Linaburg Sponaugle, who survives. 

Also surviving are one daughter, Sue Ellen (Ralph) Mitchell of upper Tract; two stepdaughters. Vickie (Gene) Brown of Midlothian, VA, and Sandy (Dave) Kelly of Mechanicsville, VA; one son, Rev. Samuel (Nina) Sponaugle of Penn Laird, VA; two stepsons, Ricky (Tammy) Linaburg of Franklin and Jay (Kim) Linaburg of Clarksburg; one sister, Mary Propst of Moyers; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and 13 step-grandchildren.   

He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Omer, John and Calvin Sponaugle.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Kimble Funeral Home chapel in Franklin with Pastor Rob Borror and Evangelist Roy Sharp officiating.  Burial was at Blue Grass Cemetery, Blue Grass, VA.

John K.P. Graziani, Jr.

John K. P. Graziani, Jr., 14, of Martinsburg died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, at Fairfax Hospital, Fairfax, VA.  

He was born Jan. 29, 1991, in Rockville, MD, and was the son of Gini Lindelof Graziani of Martisnburg and the late John K.P. Graziani.

He was a freshman at Martinsburg High School and attended Shepherd's Table in Martinsburg. 

 In addition to his mother, he is survived by sisters, Kathleen Ann and Kristen Lee Wells (twins) of Fairfax, VA, Maria Elena Graziani of Martinsburg and Stephanie Graziani of Frederick, MD; a brother Ronald William Kirschenmann of Fairfax, VA; and grandparents, Roger and Margaruite Holloway of Franklin, David and Sherrie Lindelof of New Mexico and Dr. Hugo and Ancy Graziani of Bethesda, MD. 

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Scherie Nicole Kirschenmann. 

The Rev. Calvin Bailey conducted the funeral Monday at the Chapel of Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Burial was at Bland Cemetery in Riverton.

James E. Sidley, 68

James E. Sidley, 68, of Orlando, FL, died Friday, August 5, 2005.  Mr. Sidley was born in Grove City, PA, and as the son of Paul and Janice Sidley.

He was a 1955 graduate of Grove City High School.  A former resident of Gainesville, FL, he was with the Florida Farm Bureau.  He traveled throughout the United States as a Starter for IMSA Racing at the inception of this form of racing.  A longtime resident of Central Floirda, he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Orlando, FL, former owner/operator of colonial Auto Body, Orlando, FL, and a member of the Bahia Shrine Temple.  He was a lontime avid supporter and booster of the University of Florida Gators. 

Surviving are his wife, Sue Carole Sidley; three step-sons, Robbie Sites of Salem, VA, Mick Sites of Hayes, VA, and Eddie Sites of Franklin; a step-daughter, Elizabeth Sites of Idlewyld, CA; a brother, George Sidley of Wolf Creek, OR; two sisters, Barbara King of Orlando, FL, and Janet Waring of Lake Panasoffkee, FL, and seven step-grandchildren.  

The Rev. Shep Lawrence conducted a memorial service Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Orlando, FL.

Robert C. Reed, 69

Robert Curtis Reed, 69, of Cabins died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005, at Grant memorial Hsoptial, Petersburg. 

Mr. Reed was born Feb. 8, 1936, in Dollytown and was a son of the late Edgar Reed and Martha Dolly Reed and step-son of the late Ruth Heavener Reed. 

He retired from Germany Valley Limestone.  

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Weatherholtz Reed; two daughters, Connie Vance and Carolyn Turner, both of Cabins, two sons, Carl Reed of Onego and Charles "Chuck" Reed of Petersburg; two grandchildren he raised, Billy Reed and Bobbie Sue Vance;  five half sisters, Josephine Rohrbaugh of Maysville, Mary Powell of Frederick, MD, Margie Saville of Rio, June Huffman of Seneca Rocks and Linda Ours of Cabins; a half brother, Paul Reed of Burlington; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A hlaf sister, Eva June Reed, preceded him in death. 

the Rev. Calvin Redman conducted the funeral Friday at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg.  Burial was in the Weatherholtz family cemetery in Lahmansville.

Farrell Heavener, 70

C. Farrell Heavener, 70, of cherry Grove died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, at his residence. 

Mr. Heavener was born Sept. 30, 1934, in Cherry Grove and was the son of the late Ray Heavener and Sybil Wyant Heavener. 

He was a farmer and co-founder of C&H Cash Store in Cherry Grove.  He attended Cherry Grove schools.  He was a member of the Methodist Church. 

His wife, Annalyn Johnston Heavener, preceded him in death Dec. 6, 1997. 

Surviving are a daughter, Judy Thompson of Riverton; three sons, Charlie Heavener of Cherry Grove, Ferlin Heavener of Mount Olive and Ray Heavener of Cherry Grove; a sister, Imogene Ellis of Staunton, VA; two grandsons, Jared Ray Heavener and Justin Hedrick; and one great granddaughter, Ashton Heavener. 

he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Joy Colaw and Betty Tracy. 

The Revs. Donald Wilkinson and Paul O'Gorek conducted the funeral Wednesday in the Chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin.  Burial was in the Heavener Family Cemetery in Cherry Grove.

Margie Louise Fourinash 

Margie Louise Fourinash, 89, a former resident of Huttonsville and for the past four and one-half years has resided with her daughter, Mrs. Edsel (Mary Anne) Hogan of Franklin, passed away August 4, 205, in the Grant Memorial Hospital.

She was born Feb. 10, 1916, at Mill Creek, a daughter of  the late Ladew Lee Lloyd and blanche Tacy Lloyd.  

She graduated from Tygarts Valley High School with the class of 1932 and was a member of the Home Economics Club, played girls basketball and was the sports reporter for the school paper for four years.  Mrs. Forinash was an avid reader of books, loved to write history and was an oustanding cook and seamstress and cherished her family and friends.  She was a member of the Tygarts Valley Presbyterian Church in Huttonsville, Randolph Chapter No. 74, Order of the Easter Star and Huttonsville Rebecca Lodge No. 103 for over 50 years and John Hart Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.

On May 7, 1934, at Oakland, MD, she was married to John Bosworth Forinash, who preceded her in death Dec. 17, 1984.  

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ronald F. (Carolyn) Mathias of Havre de Grace, MD, and Mrs. Edsel (Mary Anne) Hogan of Franklin; one brother, Bobby B. Lloyd of Elkins, eight grandchildren, John William and Jeffrey Lee Forinash, Katherine Mathias Shrader, Ronald Mark and Michael Benjamin Mathias, Elizabeth Mathias Lindes, Julie Hogan Smith and Robert Lee Hogan; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends. 

Also preceding her in death were one son, Victor L. Forinash, one brother and one sister. 

Randolph Chapter No. 74, Order of the Eastern Star conducted a memorial service Friday at the Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins.  Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Tygarts Valley Presbyterian Church, Huttonsville, and Rev. Samuel Harper officiating.  Interment followed in the Brick Church Cemetery at Huttonsville.

John K. Sweet

John Kelly Sweet, 55, of Blue Grass, VA, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2005, at Augusta Medical Center. 

Mr. Sweet was born March 25, 1950, in Acme and was the son of the late James Kelly and Grace Will Sweet.  

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  He had worked for Gates and Fox at the Bath County Pumped Storage Project and for hanover shoe Company in Franklin.

Surviving are a son, James Kelly Sweet of Blue Grass, VA; his fiancee, Rebecca Martin of Blue Grass, VA; two sisters, Toby S. Swecker and husband, John of blue Grass, VA, and Mary Herold of Aiken, SC; a brother, William H. Sweet and wife, Margery of Berryville, VA; a companion and best friend, Mary H. Will; a grandosn; and a nephew. 

He was also preceded in death by two infant brothers and an infant sister.  

The Rev. Joe Bradford and Bishop David Hartman will conduct a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Obaugh Funeral Home, McDowell, VA.  Burial will be in the Blue Grass Cemetery, blue Grass, VA.

The body was cremated.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Nancy Lorenzen, 59

Nancy Lee Lorenzen, 59, of Broadway, VA, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2005, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg, VA. 

Mrs. Lorenzen was born Nov. 5, 1945, in Harrisonburg, VA, and was the daughter of Joy Kathryn Good Miller of Pendleton county and the late Alfred Allen Miller. 

She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Timberville, VA. 

Surviving in addition to her mother, are a daughter Terri Lynn Lorenzen of Broadway, VA, a son, David Allen Lorenzen of Fulks Run, VA; two sisters, Peggy Ann thorn of Stephenson, VA, and Barbara Jean Schuckman of Stafford, VA; and three grandchildren.   

Pastor John Yeich will conduct a memorial service 2 p.m. Friday at the Broadway Presbyterian Church.  The family will receive friends following the service in the church social hall.

Arrangements are by Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway, VA.  

The body was cremated.
