Chloe D. Keister, 95

Chloe Dunkle Keister, 95, of Upper Tract, died Friday, July 16, 2004, at Carriage Hill Nursing Home in Fredericksburg, VA. 

Mrs. Keister was born June 10, 1909 at the home of her grandparents, W.W. and Susan Eye, now Hill Top Farm, in Deer Run.  She was a daughter of the late Wade Hampton Dunkle and Lottie Susan Eye Dunkle. 

She was a homemaker and a former school teacher.  She was a member of the Upper Tract Presbyterian Church and a charter member of the O.E.S. No. 138.  She attended Dunkle School and graduated from St. John's Academy. 

On June 14, 1932, she married Leslie Allen Keister, who preceded her in death March 23, 1992.   They were married for 60 years. 

She is survived by a daughter, Ruth and husband, Jim Heal of Garrisonville, VA; a son, James D. and wife, Karen Keister of Amarillo, TX; a sister, Neva Cunningham of Colonial Beach, VA; three grandchildren, Jay Heal, Dr. Alan Keister and his wife, Vicki, and Joni Keister Haralson and her husband, Brad; four great-grandchildren, Abby, Claire and Emma Keister and Liz Haralson; and several nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death one brother, Paul Dunkle; and one sister, Lynn Wood.  

The Rev. Stanley Kile conducted the funeral 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Basagic Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin.  Burial was at the Cherry Hill Cemetery in Upper Tract.  

Memorial contributions may be made to  the Pendleton County Library or the Pendleton County 4-H Leaders Association.  

Harlan Kuykendall, 70

Harlan Roosevelt Kuykendall, 70, of Milam, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004. 

Mr. Kuykendall was born March 19, 1934, in Hardy County and was the son of the late Calvin Kuykendall and Arletta Bodkin. 

He was a retired employee of WVDOT and was a veteran of the United States Army.  

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Riggleman Kykendall, on Dec. 5, 2001. 

Surviving are a daughter, Jackie Arbaugh of Seneca Rocks; a son, Mark Kuykendall of Milam; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchildren. 

Pastor Harold Cullers conducted the funeral 11 a.m. Friday at Elmore Funeral Home.  Burial with military graveside rites by the Moorefield Veterans Honor Guard was at the Kuykendall Family Cemetery.
