Caroline Burnett

Caroline Burnett, 59, died Saturday, July 16, 2005, at Avante Nursing Home in Harrisonburg, VA.  

Ms. Burnett was born Sept. 5, 1945, in Harrisonburg, VA, and was the daughter of the late Edmund Cody Burnett and Martha Grace Mccoy Burnett.  

She was a deaf education teacher for children in Fairfax County, VA.  She graduated from Yorktown High School in Arlington, VA, attended Furman College, graduated from George Washington University and did post graduate work at the University of Virginia.  She was a Baptist. 

She is survived by a brother, Dr. Edmund Cody Burnett, Jr., and wife Ellen of Roanoke Rapids, NC; nephew, Edmund "Cody" Burnett, III; aunts and uncles Robert and Mary Lee McCoy and William and Harriet McCoy, all of Franklin; and several cousins.  

The Rev. Kevin Hand conducted the funeral Tuesday at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin.  Burial was at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin.  

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pendleton Nursing Home or Franklin Presbyterian Church. 

Waldo E. Kline, 74

Waldo Eugene Kline, age 74, of Harrisonburg, VA, died Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Kline was born July 19, 1930, in Crabbottom, VA, now known as Blue Grass, VA, and was the son of the late Reon and Selma (Hinkle) Kline.  

Mr. Kline was reared in the Presbyterian Church and has served as deacon and treasurer of the Franklin Presbyterian Church. 

He attended the General Motors Institute in Flint, MI, Potomac State College in Keyser and Bridgewater College, Bridgewater, VA. 

Waldo was a car enthusiast, collector, mechanic and auto parts salesman.  Even after his illness, he was called on for his opinion.  HE will be remembered for his warm personality, with and the many caps he would wear daily. 

He is survived by his wife, Clara Fleming Kline, whom he married June 27, 1954; two brothers, and a special brother-in-law, Paul Fleming of Hampton, VA.  

Mr. Kline requested private services. 

Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, VA, were in charge of funeral arrangements. 

Treva V. Rexrode, 90

Treva V. Rexrode, 90, of Penn Laird, VA, died Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at Willow Estates Assisted Living. 

Mrs. Rexrode was born April 27, 1915, in Highland County, VA, and was the daughter of the late Robwert Lee and Emma Jane Wagner Halterman.  

She retired from Hanover Shoe Company. 

On Aug. 8, 1934, she married Walter James Rexrode, who preceded her in death July 25, 1988. 

Survivors include two daughters, Janet L. Hyler of Mount Crawford, VA, and Betty J. Conrad of Willard, OH; a son, Arthur E. Rexrode of Harrisonburg, VA; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  

She also was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. 

Pastor Edwin Heatwole and the Rev. Cindy D. Carr conducted the funeral Friday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell, VA.  Burial was at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin.

Arnold Vandevander, 52

Arnold Leo Vandevander, 52,of Harrisonburg, VA, died Monday, July 11, 2005, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, VA. 

Mr. VAndevander was born March 25, 1953, in Harrisonburg, VA, and was the son of the late Russell Allen and Glenna May Vandevander. 

He moved to the area from Brandywine in his youth and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.  He was a truck driver for WTI Trucking in Harrisonburg, VA, before retiring. 

He is survived by three sisters, Treva Reedy of Harrisonburg, VA, Floe Walters of Lexington, VA, and Reanell Mitchell of Staunton, VA; and a number of nieces and nephews. 

The Rev. Jeff Ferguson conducted the funeral Thursday at First Assembly of God Church.  Burial followed at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg, VA. 

Memorial contributions may be made to First Assembly of God, 1310 Garbers Church Road, Harrisonburg, VA, was in charge of funeral arrangements. 

Kyger Funeral Home, Harrisonburg, VA, was in charge of funeral arrangements.
