He was born at Ft. Seybert, on April 23, 1922, the son of the late George Washington and Mahala Susan Nesselrodt Hoover.

Mr. Hoover attended Pendleton County Schools. He worked for the US Forest Service and the WV Department of Highways and retired from Marvel Poultry. He was a WW II Veteran of the US Army.

Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Enyart of Sugar Grove; five sons, George Hoover and wife Cindy of Kearnysville, Roger Hoover and wife Ann, James Hoover and wife Pam, Jess Losh and wife Vickie all of Brandywine, Melvin Hoover and wife Donna of Sugar Grove; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Ocie, James, Charlie, Paren, Walter; four sisters, Edith Smith, Viola Halterman, Minnie Baer, and Dorothy Hoover.

Interment was at Pleasant Grove Mennonite Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard.

13, 2012 at his home. He showed a strong display of courage to remain with his family that he loved so very much as he fought a year long battle with cancer. Now he rests in the loving arms of Jesus.

After graduation he attended West Virginia Tech and he worked for Cannelton Coal Co. in supply. In 1962 he moved to Richmond, VA to work for AT&T communications where he met his future wife. He worked with AT&T in Maryland for 3 years then he transferred to Sugar Grove, with AT&T. He retired in 1992 with 28 years of service. He also owned and operated Hiles Turkey Farm from 1977 until his retirement in 1999 then he moved back to his home county of Fayette.

While living in Pendleton County he served as the President of the South Fork Volunteer Fire Department and also served as president of the county PSD board of directors. Jim was an avid fisherman and hunter. Traveling to many places to fish and hunt with his son and his many friends.

He loved Jesus and nature and the great outdoors was his church. He also enjoyed yearly vacation trips to Hatteras, NC with his daughter, son and their familes.

Also surviving are a daughter Tammy Smith and her husband Junior of Brandywine; son James Hiles Jr. and his wife Dana of Hinton, VA; his precious granddaughter and grandson Autumn Nicole Smith and Joey Burkett; two sisters Barbara Jean Holmes and her husband John of Fredericksburg, VA and Rebecca Capps and her husband David of Waldolf, MD; two brothers-in-law Bill Arthur of Falls View and Jerry Mathen and his wife Pam of Fredericksburg, VA ; a sister-in-law Peggy Dehart and her husband Kyle of Radford, VA; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Saturday at 5:00p.m. at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Rev. John Holland officiating. Friends may visit with Jim’s family for 2 hours after the service at the funeral home.

John Burton Stone, 71, a resident of Staunton, VA, and formerly of Ft. Seybert, passed away July 2, 2012, at King’s Daughters’ Community Health.

Mr. Stone was born July 10, 1940, in Doe Hill, VA, and was the son of the late John William Stone and Blanche Simmons Shrader and stepfather, Floyd Shrader.

He joined the U.S. Army in 1960 in the 43rd Artillery and was stationed in Anchorage, AK. He later served in the National Guard until 1965. He owned S&S Turkey Farm and was an independent poultry grower from 1968 until the 1990s. In the 1970s through the ‘80s, he had the largest poultry breeder division at Wampler Foods.

Mr. Stone also owned and operated J. B. Trucking in the 1980s and was a salesman for Doebler’s Seed Corn for several years. He was later employed by Wampler Foods and served as a consultant to the Australian breeder division and to the Israeli Co. for automatic nests.

He worked in Ft. Seybert for M. B. Rexrode farm and the Dyer farm. He drove a truck for Hott’s Feed Mill. He loved living in this camp in West Virginia.

Mr. Stone was a member of the Southern Motorcycle Club and had drag raced at Eastside Speedway and was sponsored by Dale Wagner Chevrolet. Early Cycle Center sponsored his dirt bike racing. He was an avid tractor puller with his Ford 9600 tractor. He also loved and cared for his dog companions, Duke and Emmy and in loving memory of Cassie, Sandy and Madoline.

Surviving are two daughters, Tessa Morrow, and husband, Stever of New Market, VA, and Tara Barrix of Clover Hill, VA; two sisters, Norma June Simmons, and husband, Elmer of Mount Crawford, VA, and Margaret Bolton, and husband Randy of Harrisonburg, VA; and two grandchildren, Summer and Chase Barrix.

Thomas LeRoy Jessen, age 79, of Franklin, formerly of Baltimore, MD, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

Mr. Jessen attended Baltimore City Schools and was a retired Salvage Yard Operator. He was a Navy Veteran where he served from 1952-1956 and he was a member of the VFW Post #6454, DAV WV8, and American Legion #0200.

Surviving are a daughter, Rosa Propst and husband Bobby of Brandywine; two sons, Thomas Ware and wife Ellen of Talladega, NY, Paul Thompson of Brandywine; five sisters, Joanna Barnes, Mary Brown, Hazel Lee, Dorothy Ridgley, all of Baltimore, MD, Beverly Purcell of Martinsburg; a brother, Vernon Jessen of Baltimore, MD; nine grandchildren, Angel, Tina, Rickie, Thomas III, Bobby Jr., Lorie, David, Phillip, Justin and six greatgrandchildren, Kristin, Dalton, Colton, Emily, Addison, and Rosalyn.

He was also preceded in death by: a daughter, Candy Jessen; and four brothers, Randy, Charles, William and John, Jr.

Funeral services were held at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin with Pastor Mike McCauley officiating and military honors by Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard.
