Frances H. Halterman, 81, of Franklin, W.Va., died Monday, July 16, 2007, at her home.

Mrs. Halterman was born April 30, 1926, in Ruddle, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late Oliver Hedrick and Florence Lawrence Hedrick.

She had worked at Franklin Garment Company and for the Pendleton County Committee on Aging. She was a member of Wayside Baptist Church.

On Dec. 17, 1946, she married Clemet Halterman; he survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Karen Harper of Franklin; three sons, Clifton Halterman and Randall Halterman, both of Circleville, and Michael Halterman of Franklin; four sisters, Shirley Thompson, Ruby Crown and Loveain Warner, all of Franklin, and Sarah Smith of Upper Tract; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Paul Hedrick. 

Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin with Rev. Danny L. Williams Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the Ruddle Church Cemetery.

Bobby Gene Church, 58, of Washington, D.C., died Sunday, July 8, 2007, at his home.

Mr. Church was born Feb. 15, 1949, in Marlinton and was the son of Vivian Lindsay Merritt Giles of Crofton, MD and the late Curtis F. Church.

He graduated from Staunton High School in 1967 and was a member of the AME Church. He served in the Air Force from 1968-1972 and was employed at the Veterans Hospital in Washington, D.C.

Survivors include a son, Bobby Gene Church Jr. of Staunton, VA; and a sister, Sheila Mickens of Crofton, MD.

The Rev. Eldon Moats conducted the funeral Saturday at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Burial was at Entry Mountain Cemetery in Franklin with military honors by the Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard.

Bonnie Louise Vance, 60, of Franklin died Friday, July 13, 2007, at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA.

Mrs. Vance was born Nov. 1, 1946, in Seneca Rocks, W.Va., and was the daughter of Bonnie G. Miller Turner of Franklin and the late Robert H. Turner.

She was a 1964 graduate of Circleville High School. She worked with her husband in real estate and land development and was a member of the West Marva District Church of the Brethren.

Her husband, Harvey J. Vance, survives in Franklin.

Surviving in addition to her mother and husband are two daughters, Shasta Vance and Shanna Rohr, both of Capon Bridge; one granddaughter, four sisters, three brothers and numerous nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by one brother, Steve Turner. 

The Rev. Harold Cullers conducted the funeral Tuesday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, W.Va. Burial was private.

Kenneth E. Shriver

Kenneth Eugene Shriver, 82, of Cherry Grove died Monday, July 16, 2007, at his residence.

Born Sept. 3, 1924, in Smithfield, IL, he was the son of the late Ercell A. and Ona D. Ford Shriver.

He retired as a carpenter for Ivy Construction and had been a watchman for for 10 years at Interstate Hardwoods in Bartow. He was a POW for 16  months in Germany.  He retired from the Army after serving 20 years.  He was a member of the American Legion and a Protestant by faith.  

His wife, Yvonne Judy Shriver, survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Janice Raines of Cherry Grove, and Elizabeth Shriver of Franklin; two sons, Douglas Shriver and Mark Shriver, both of Cherry Grove; one sister, Darlene Scott of Bradwood, IL; one brother, Delbert Shriver of Oklahoma City, OK, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Michael John Shriver.  

Funeral services will be held  Friday at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin,  with the Rev. Stanley Kile officiating.  Burial will be in the Shriver Family Cemetery at Cherry Grove with military graveside rites by the Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. this evening.  

Virginia Bouldin, 83

Virginia Adaline Kesner Kite Bouldin, 83, of upper Tract died Thursday, July 12, 2007, at the Grant County Nursing HOme in Petersburg.  

Mrs. Bouldin was born Dec. 30, 1923, in Rough Run and was the daughter of the late John Evers Kesner and Rebecca Whetzel Kesner. 

She was a school bus driver in Prince William County, VA, for 11 years and worked in various hospitals in Virginia.  She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Rig. 

Her husband of 39 years, Cletis F. Bouldin, survives in Upper Tract. 

Also surviving are a son, Bobby O. Kite and wife, Marti of Dorcas; a daughter, Joyce Del Negro and husband Andy, of Centreville, MD; three step-sons, James Bouldin of Richmond, VA, Larry Bouldin of Petersburg and Gary Bouldin of Gum Springs, VA; two step-daughters, Janet Faye Bouldin and Trudy Bouldin, both of Richmond, VA; two sisters, Arvella Ours and Glenna Jean Crites, both of Rough Run; two brothers, Victor Kesner of Burlington and Orlando Kesner of Petersburg; six grandchildren, Tabby Sites and husband, Eddie, Robert Kite and wife, Sabrina and Tiffanie Kite, all of Dorcas, Rebecca NEpivoda and husband, Mark of Haymarket, VA, Cindy Barb and husband, Jeff and Shannon Rutter and husband, Tony, all of Marshall, VA; nine step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Matthiew Sites and Megan and Jonathan Kite, all of Dorcas, SEan Willis of Haymarket, VA, Chelsea Katelyn and Makayla Barb and Patrick and Emily Ritenour, all of Marshall, VA; and eight step-great-grandchildren.  

She also was preceded in death by one brothers, Evers Kesner; two infant sisters; and one step-grandson, Tony Del Negro. 
pastor Randy Mongold conducted the funeral Saturday at Rough Run Church of the Brethren.  Burial was in the Kline Cemetery in Kline.

Albert E. Propst, 78

Albert "Al" Propst, 78, of Blacksburg, VA   died Monday, July 9, 2007.  

Mr. Propst was born July 26, 1928, in Franklin and was the son of Elizabeth J. and Albert Thomas Propst. 

He was actively involved in Boy Scouts of America, serving as Scoutmaster of Troop 86 in New Hope, VA.  HE enjoyed bird dogs and quail hunting and was an avid fisherman.  In his middle years, he enjoyed pitching softball an dplayed for many years in church leagues in New Hope, VA, and later in Christiansburg, VA. 

Mr. Propst was an active member of the Christiansburg Church of the Brethren choir and the Joy Makers Christian music group, which entertained many senior citizens in the Christiansburg, VA, area.  He and his wife enjoyed many years of bowling in the Golden Years Bowling League, where he served as league president from 2002 to 2004.  

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary L. Propst. 

Also surviving are three children, Dennis B. Propst of Mason, MI, Dale R. PRopst of Waynesboro, VA, and Dona P. Bussard of Weyers Cave, VA; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. 

The funeral was held Friday at the Christiansburg Church of the Brethren.  Burial followed at Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg, VA. 

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association. 

Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg, VA, was in charge of funeral arrangements.
