Joanne Eye, 68, of Sun City Center, FL, died July 6, 2002, at her residence.

Born in Pennsylvania, she resided in Charleston prior to moving to Sun City Center, FL, in 1988 from Largo, FL.

Mrs. Eye was a member of the Sun City Center United Methodist Church and the Hall of Charleston Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 88.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond V. Eye of Sun City Center, FL, and formerly of Franklin.

Also surviving are a son-in-law, Glen Knapp of Sarasota, FL; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Rollie and Elaine Eye of Rivesville, and Billie and Ruth Eye of Elkins; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Miller, and a daughter Denise Knapp.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Lewers Funeral Home, Ruskin, FL, with the Revs. Neal Long and James Niemeyer officiating. Interment followed in the Florida National Cemetery.

Mary Catherine "Kay" Sites, 77, of Riverton, died Friday, June 28, 2002, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, VA.

Mrs. Sites was born May 8, 1925, at Georgetown, Washington, D.C., and was the daughter of the late Maurice Francis and Hannah Roberta Angel Adamson.

She was a retired para professional in special education and had worked at Seneca Rocks and Circleville Elementary Schools, was a member of school service personnel and president for 25 years, having received a Letter of Appreciation from Gov. Cecil Underwood. She had lived in Hong Kong China, for nine months. She started the Riverton Teen Club, worked with WIC (women, infants & children), was a volunteer for the Selective Service Board, and was a Girl Scout Cookie chairman. She was a Pendleton County Belle, a member of the Silver Haired legislature, (Senate Majority Leader, 1987-89), served for two years on Joint Rules Committee (having written H.B. 610), and had served on the State Democratic Executive Committee. She was active with special Olympics as an outreach person, was a member of Literacy Volunteers of America, Pendleton County Historical Society, Pendleton County Farm Bureau and A.A.R.P. She was a member of the Episcopal Church.

Her husband, Bill Lee Sites, survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Donna Marie Griffith and Pamella Anne Miller, both of Reedville, VA, Mary Catherine Mitchell, Kensington, MD, and Roberta Anne Mauzy, Haymarket, VA; one son, Timothy Joseph Mauzy, Murrietta, CA; one sister, Marie Frances Papanicolas, Kensington, MD; one brothers, Charles William Adamson, Frederick, MD; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Father Frank Coe conducted the funeral at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Chapel of Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Burial was in the Walnut Grove family cemetery in Riverton.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pendleton County Board of Education--"Special Education Fund."

Warren Leo Propst, 64, of Middletown, MD, died Sunday, June 30, 2002, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Propst was born Oct. 4, 1937, in Brandywine and a son of the late Ember and Etha Pitsbarger Propst.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a retail manager for the former McCrory's Department Store at Frederick Towne Mall.

Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Diane Humbertson Propst; two daughters, Angela R. Propst of Frederick, VA, and Krista L. Long of Middletown, VA; two brothers, Garland Propst of Franklin, and Sheldon Propst of Bridgewater, Va; five sisters, Agnes Sanchez of San Clemente, CA, Elga Gaylor of Bridgewater, VA, Lee Hopkins of Weyers Cave, VA, Maxine Miller, of Harrisonburg, VA, and Ruby Bolyard of Augusta, GA; two grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Donald L. Turley conducted the funeral at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, Frederick, VA. Burial was at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Frederick, VA.

Dolan Blake "Mike" Bennett, 41, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, July 4, 2002, at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA.

He was born Feb. 15, 1961, in Petersburg and was a son of the late Charlie Bennett, Sr., and Ruby Lambert Bennett.

Sruviving are his foster mother, Darlene Hoffmaster of Martinsburg; one sister, Norma Jean Bennett of Riverton; one brother, Charlie Bennett, Jr., of Riverton; and several nieces and nephews.

The Revs. Mark McAllister and Jerry Mead conducted the funeral service 10 a.m. Saturday, at the North Fork Baptist Church in Riverton.

Burial was at the Bennett family cemetery in Riverton.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.

Osie Virginia Linton, 93, of Brandywine, died Sunday, June 30, 2002, at her home.

Mrs. Linton was born April 10, 1909, in Brandywine and was a daughter of the late Tilman Propst and Sallie Ann Eye Propst.

She retired from L. Franks Department Store in Washington D.C., and was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.

Her husband, Martin Linton, preceded her in death on Oct. 21, 1984. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Joshua Propst and Floyd Propst; and two sisters, Nellie Propst and Freda Propst.

The Rev. Dana Holter conducted the funeral at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Burial was in the Pine Hill Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the South Fork Fire Department or the Calvary Lutheran Church.

Lloyd Nicholas "Nicky" Shifflett, 42, of Elkton, VA, died Saturday July 6, 2002, at his home.

Mr. Shifflett was born Dec. 30, 1959, in Harrisonburg, VA, and was the son of Lloyd E. "Blackie" and Margie Shifflett of Elkton.

He was employed at Blue Stone Concrete in Elkton, VA, and was a member of the Full Gospel Lighthouse Tabernacle at Elkton, VA.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Shawn Schaeffer Shifflett; a stepson, Jesse Jenkins; three sisters, Barbara Frazier, Grottoes, VA, Donna Ludholtz, Timberville, VA, and Tina Shifflett, Brandywine; and a number of niece, nephews and cousins.

The Revs. Ronald Spencer and Homer Frazier conducted the funeral service Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Full Gospel Lighthouse Tabernacle at Elkton, VA. Burial followed at the Mount Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville, VA.
