Octavia W. Rhodehamel, 84, of Fairfax, Va., died July 3, 2008 at Fairfax Inova Hospital after a lengthy illness. 

Born Aug. 8, 1923, in Blackstone, VA, she was the daughter of the late James and Nellie May West. 

Mrs. Rhodehamel had formerly made her home in Gainesville, VA, for 23 years.  

She was a retired accountant for the American Psychological Association in Arlington, VA, and retired accountant for the Army and Air Force Exchange Service at Cameron Station, Alexandria, VA.  She was a member of Pender United Methodist Church and was a Past Grand Chief of Pythian Sisters.  

Her husband, Edward C. Rhodehamel of Fairfax,  VA, survives.  

Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law Danny and Shalee Wilburn of Franklin; a daughter and son-in-law  Janice and Greg Budnik of Newington, VA; two sisters Virginia Orange of Blackstone, VA, and Nellie Hawthorne of Richmond, VA; and three grandchildren, Christopher Wilburn of Franklin and Alex and Megan Budnik of Newington, VA.

Funeral services were Tuesday at Pender United Methodist Church, Fairfax, VA. Burial was at Lakeview Cemetery, Blackstone, VA, on Wednesday.

Memorials may be made in her memory to the Pender United Methodist Church or the American Diabetes Association.

Mrs. Hazel Eckard Fisher, 96, a resident of Harrisonburg, VA, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Thursday, July 3, 2008, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg, VA, after a year of illness.

A daughter of the late Arthur and Lillie Lou Smith Eckard, she was born on Sept. 24, 1911, in Sugar Grove. 

She had formerly made her home in Bridgewater, VA, where she graduated from Bridgewater High School and had been living in Harrisonburg, VA, for 80 years. 

Mrs. Fisher was an avid gardener and a wonderful wife, mother and adoring grandmother.  She was a teller at the voter registration polls and a past member of the Park View Home Demonstration Club. She was the oldest member of Otterbein United Methodist Church and class officer of the Rebecca Sunday School Class for many years.

On April 6, 1936, she married Otto Woodrow Fisher, who preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 1992.

She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn F. Johnson and husband, Bill, and Thelma F. Bourne and husband, Don, all of Harrisonburg, VA, and Mary Lou F. Whitmore and husband, Elwood, of Mount Crawford, VA; nine grandchildren, Neil F. Johnson, William M. Johnson, James Arthur Johnson, Carolyn Jane-Marie Paradzinski, Nelson W. Bourne, Christopher L. Bourne, Laura Jane Bauserman, Maria Jane W. Cowart, and Jeremy C. Whitmore; and 11 great-grandchildren. 

She was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

A memorial service was held Sunday afternoon at Otterbein United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Grogan officiating. A private family burial will be held at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens at an earlier time.

Martin Junior Wimer, 51, of Circleville died Friday, July 4, 2008, at his residence near Cherry Grove. 

Mr. Wimer was born Oct. 15, 1956, in the Smith Creek Area of Franklin and was the son of the late Walter and Sallie Ann Vandevander Wimer.  

He was a farmer and ran a sawmill.  He attended Franklin High School. 

His wife, Jeannie Lynn Wimer, survives. 

Also surviving are a son, Brent Martin Wimer, and wife, Connie at Onego; a step-son, Jed Wimer of Circleville; three sisters, Lulabelle Turner, Betty Lou Mick and husband, Will, and Linda Jean Wimer, all of Circleville; two half-sisters, Rebecca May Moses and Lorene Painter, both of Harrisonburg, VA; two brothers, Scott Wimer of Mount Olive, W.VA., and Danny Lee ARbogast of Oakland, MD; a half-brother, Raymond Wimer of Harrisonburg, VA; two nephews, Mark Turner of Mt. Olive and Michael Turner of Brandywine; one niece, Brittany Nicole Wimer; one grandson, Martin Allen Wimer; and several aunts and uncles. 

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Richard. 

Harold Mullenax conducted the funeral Tuesday at the Circleville Presbyterian Church.  Burial was in the Wimer Cemetery in Circleville.

William Frederick Evick

William Frederick Evick, 75, of Franklin died Monday, July 7, 2008, at his residence.

Mr. Evick was born May 29, 1933, in Franklin, he was the son of the late William Fred and Mary Edith Hoover Evick.

He was a farmer and a retired inspector with the West Virginia Department of Highways. He was a member of the Smith Creek Church of the Brethren.  He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Korean War.

He was formerly married to Vada A. Alt Evick, of Franklin, who survives.

Surviving are three sons, Billy Evick and wife, Cindy, and Bobby and wife, Julie, Evick, all of Franklin, and Bradley Evick and wife, Teresa of Harrisonburg, VA; two sisters, Mary Keplinger of Newark, DE, and Jody Olkowski and husband, Ed, of Wilmington, DE.; four brothers, Charles Bennie Evick and wife, Mary Alice, Ernest Cody Evick and wife, Helen, and Buddy Lee Evick and wife, Julia, all of Franklin; and Richard Franklin Evick of Harrisonburg, VA; and seven grandchildren, Megan, Hannah, Benjamin, Heidi, Preston, Grant and Natalie.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, John A. Evick; and two sisters, Norma Swadley and Etta Margaret Lambert. 

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home, Franklin, with Pastor Steve Teter officiating.  Burial will be at the Cedar Hill Cemetery with military graveside services by the Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorial donations may be made to the Franklin Volunteer Fire Department, Pendleton County Rescue Squad or the Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Basagic Funeral Home, Franklin.

Twyla Rose Grimm

Twyla Rose GRimm, 80, of Alliance, OH, died on Thursday, July 3, 2008, at 1:00 a.m. at Roselawn Terrace surrounded by her family. 

She was born on Nov. 3, 1927, in Harrisburg, OH, a daughter of the late Lee and Doris (Haidet) Wood. 

She lived in the Alliance and Marlboro areas in Ohio all of her life and was a graduate of Marlboro High School.

Mrs. Grimm was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Sacristy Cleaning Ladies. 

Her husband, Joe R. Grimm, whom she married on April 3, 1948, preceded her in death on April 18, 2006.  

Surviving are four daughters, Jo-Ann (Andre Petracco) Layne and Linda (Jim) Wayt, both of Alliance, OH, Mary Lou (Paul) Hahlen of Beloit, OH, and Tina (Bob)Workman of Deerfield, OH; six sons, Robert (Judy) Grimm of Brandywine, Thomas (Donna) Grimm of Minerva, OH, Timothy (Deb) Grimm of Salem, OH, James (Beth) Grimm of Damascus, OH, Rex (Stephanie Steele) Grimm and Clifford (Mindy McCracken) Grimm, both of Alliance, OH; 25 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister Kathleen Florea of Tipp City, OH: and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. 

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Green; and a brother, Wayne, Wood. 

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday with the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht as celebrant.  Interment followed at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Benny L. Cooper, 65

Benny Lee Cooper, 65, of Woodstock, VA, died Thursday, July 3, 2008, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA..

Mr. Cooper was born May 3, 1943, in Onego and was the son of the late Ernie Benjamin and Daisy Painter Cooper.

He was a self-employed contractor and developer in home construction.

His wife, Judy Phillips Cooper, survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Lora Cooper Loving of Edinburg, VA, and Julie Cooper Wright of Woodstock, VA; a sister, Olive Armentrout of Harrisonburg, VA; three brothers, Gene Cooper of Linville, VA, Jerry Cooper of Woodstock, VA, and Harry Cooper of Edinburg, VA; and three grandchildren.

The Rev. Wendell Shurtz conducted a Celebration of Life service Saturday at Wakeman’s Grove Church of the Brethren.
