June C. Waggy
June Carothers Waggy died June 28 in California.
She was born in Peabody, KS.
In 1958, she married John Waggy, who was born and raised in Sugar Grove and graduated from Franklin High School in 1941.
She received her AA from Colorado Woman's College and her BA, MA and Phi Beta Kappa Key from Denver University. Her Master Thesis "Estes Park Past and Present," was published. She served on the Board of Directors of the Denver History Museum, was a teacher and later volunteered in the San Mateo / Foster City School District, assisting in the office of Bayside Middle School and Fiesta Gardens International School.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Joan Rosas and Anne Dyvig; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held today at Sneider and Sullivan Funeral Home, San Mateo, CA. A funeral service will be held July 17 at St. Luke's Church, Denver, CO.
B. Maude Lough, 93
Bertha Maude Lough, Grandma," 93, of Arden died Sunday, July 3, 2005, at her home.
Born March 25, 1912, in Pendleton County, she was the daughter of the late Abraham and Bertha Lough.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church at Arden.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Charles Heck of Arden; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Grace Hedrick of Upper Tract.
she was preceded in death by her husband, Ona R. Lough; three sisters, Gertrude Heavner, Ruby Hiser and Wilda Pitsenbarger; and one brother, Ralph Lough.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 11;00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran church, Martinsburg, with Rev. Christine Olson officiating. Interment was in Arden United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 122 Waverly Ct., Martinsburg, WV 25401. Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg, was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
Richard G. Raese, 57
Richard Greer Raese of Fairmont and formerly of Morgantown, was pronounced dead on Saturday, June 18, 2005, in Taylor County. He was 57.
Born May 13, 1948, in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Richard Aubrey "Dyke" Raese and Jane Greer Raese of Morgantown.
He was a Presbyterian by faith and a staunch conservative Republican who enjoyed political debate. He graduated from Morgantown High school in 1966 and West Virginia University in 1971. following graduation from WVU, he entered the U.S. Marine Corps. He attended Officer Candidate School and earned the rank of 1st lieutenant while on active duty. He joined the Marine Corps Reserve and was honorably discharged in 1979, after attaining the rank of captain. During his years of military service, he was awarded the National Defense Service medal, the Pistol Sharpshooter Badge and the Rifle Marksmanship Badge. He was highly principled in his personal and professional lives.
He was also a supportive brother, a trusted friend and a devoted grandson to the late Col. H.C. Greer and Agnes Jane Reeves Greer.
He was the former president of the Limestone Division of Greer Steel and president of Preston County Coal and Coke . He also sat on the Greer Steel Corp. Board of Directors. He was part-owner of the West Virginia Newspaper Publishing Co., publisher of the Dominion Post, the West Virginia Radio Corp., operator of WAJR, WVAQ and other radio stations.
He is survived by four brothers Greer Industries CEO John and his wife, Elizabeth Raese, The Dominion Post publisher David and his wife, Kathleen Raese, Charles D. Raese and Robert A. Raese, all of Morgantown, his step-mother, Harriett Raese of Morgantown; and several nephews, nieces, uncles and cousins.
The cremains were interred during a graveside service conducted by the Rev. Bennie Moran on Friday at the family cemetery, Seneca Caverns, Riverton.
