Annie Catherine Kimble, 81, a resident of Life Care Center in New Market, VA, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at the center.

Mrs. Kimble was born Nov. 28, 1920, in Upper Tract and was the daughter of the late Ernest Lough and Nellie Stump Lough.

She was a homemaker and a waitress. She attended the Ruddle Presbyterian Church.

Her husband, Loy Edward Kimble preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 1968.

She is survived by a daughter, Judith Ann Kimble of McGaheysville, VA; and a grandchild, Zachary Kimble.

Also preceding her in death was a sister, Ina Bergdoll.

The Rev. Stanley Kile conducted the funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday at Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Burial was at the Cherry Hill Cemetery in Upper Tract.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Harold Lee Huffman 79, of Broadway, VA, died June 20, 2002, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, VA.

Mr. Huffman was born Jan. 21, 1923, in Riverton and was a son of the late Garnett and Margie Harper Huffman.

He moved from West Virginia to Timberville, VA, in 1949. He served with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a member of the VFW Chimney Rock. He worked at the American Can Company of Baltimore, MD, and retired from Ray Carr Tire Company of Harrisonburg, VA.

On January 11, 1948, he married the former Alma VanDevander, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Linda Lonas of Mt. Jackson, VA, and Thelma Halterman of Broadway, VA; two sons, Robert and Tommy Huffman, both of Broadway, VA; two brothers, Shurrell Huffman of Riverton and Fred Huffman of Broadway, VA; one sister, Dorothy Mitchel of Sugar Grove; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Harvey Yoder conducted a funeral service Saturday, 2 p.m., at the Grandle Funeral Home Chapel in Broadway, VA. Burial followed at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg, VA.

Vegie May Carroll, 87, of Homosassa, FL, and formerly of the Mill Gap community in Highland County, VA, died Monday June 17, 2002, at Woodland Terrace Nursing Home.

Mrs. Carroll was born Oct. 16, 1914, in Cave and was the daughter of Charles and Margaret Snyder Fleisher.

She was a homemaker and a member of Green Hill United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Farm Bureau and the Mill Gap Ruritan Club. She moved to Florida in 1996.

Her husband, Howard Carroll, preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Claudia Kearns of Homosassa, FL, and Wanda Wilkerson of Ashton, MD; three brothers, Elza Fleisher of New Britain, CT, Arch Fleisher of Piqua, OH, and Robert Fleisher of Alum Bank, PA; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29, at the Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell, VA. Burial will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 pm. Friday at the funeral home.

Harry Wilson Hartman, 89, of Franklin, West Virginia, died at his home Thursday, June 13, 2002, surrounded by the generous love of family and friends.

Harry was born July 13, 1912, at Smith Creek, the ninth child of the late Isaac Perry and Lucy Vandevander Hartman.

He labored at various skills throughout his life, but his favorite was carpentry. Harry was especially honored to serve his country during World War II working with telecommunications in the army.

Baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at age 19, he remained an active member.

He was first married to Nora Lynn Moyers, Nov. 1, 1948. Later he married Jessie Simpson Hartman on Dec. 1, 1984, who survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children , three step-children and their spouses. Ronnie and Betty Kimble, Brandywine; Jon and Sheila Lundquist, Ligonier, PA; Lyle and Margaret Hartman, Brandywine, Larry and Donna Simpson, Harrisonburg, VA; Matt and Tabby Simpson, Franklin; Steve Simpson, Roanoke, VA. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren; Monica Smith and Husband, Chris Smith, Buckhannon; Darren, Latrisha, and Natalie Kimble, Brandywine; Patrick Tyler, Jordan, and Kyle Lundquist, Ligonier, PA; Thomas Hammer, and Isaac Hartman, Brandywine; Tiffany and Rebecca Simpson, Harrisonburg, VA; Hillary Carter, and Dustin Simpson, Franklin; one great-grandchild, Ryan Smith; two sisters, Dora Murphy and Vergie Simmons, Franklin; one brother-in-law, Kermit A. Judy, Franklin.

Preceding him in death are two daughters, Schandra Marlene and Danita Lenora; one grandchild, Dallas Perry Lundquist; three brothers, Charlie, Arthur, and Tom Hartman; eight sisters; Retta Pennington, Bessie Lambert, Fannie Bodkin, Gertie Lambert, Martha Simmons, Mary Johnson, and Nettie Moyers.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 17, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with Bishop David Hartman, President Kelly Harman, and Bishop Richard Warner. Interment was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Franklin. Military rites were performed by the veterans' organizations of Grant County and the JROTC of Grant County, with a dedicatory prayer by Elder John Lundquist. Arrangements were by Basagic Funeral Home, Franklin.
