Rembert D. Moyers

Rembert Dewey Moyers, 83, of Moyers died Thursday, June 19, 2008, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg, VA..

He was born Nov. 29, 1924, at Doe Hill, VA, a son of the late Albert Lewis and Virginia Madge (Blagg) Moyers.

Mr. Moyers was a farmer and avid outdoorsman, was a member of Totten Chapel United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of VFW Post #9666, West Virginia Cattlemen's Association and the Farm Bureau.

His wife, Ruth Marie (Thorn) Moyers, whom he married on July 2, 1949, survives.

Also surviving are seven children, Sarah Moats of Verona, VA, Dewey Dean Moyers Sr., of McDowell, VA, Brenda Daniel of Parkersburg, Caroline and Jim Sponaugle of McDowell, VA, Scott Moyers of Moyers, Kevin Moyers of Covington, VA, and Sheba and Ernie Crouse of Green Spring; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucille and Shannon Maloy of McDowell, VA, and Glenna Ruth and Wes Graves of Harrisonburg, VA and a sister-in-law, Arleta Moyers of Doe Hill VA.  

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Hevener; a brother, John L. Moyers, Sr.; and a granddaughter, Megan Crouse. 

A funeral service  was conducted at the Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell, VA, with the Revs. Stanley Kile and Dave Boger officiating. Burial was in the Doe Hill Cemetery.

Tamara Lee Gunnoe-Moats

Tamara Lee Gunnoe-Moats, 49, of Charleston passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2008, after a two-year courageous and valiant battle with melanoma. 

She was born Dec. 13, 1958, in Charleston. 

She graduated from George Washington High School in 1977 and was a 1981 graduate of Glenville State College.  She was a marketing/sales manager for Scientific Games. 

Survivors include her husband, Ronald M. Moats, whom she married on Thanksgiving Day, 2000, in Franklin at the home of her husband's sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Jim Brown; a sister, Cynthia Mallett of Marietta, OH; her father, John, and step-mother, Yvonne of Ripley; her mother, Joyce Saunders Gunnoe of Charleston; nephews, ADam (Desaree) Wynn; beloved great-niece, McKenna Wynn; a step-brother, Michael Payton of Cordelle, GA; and a step-sister, Cheryl Payton Jarette of Sandyville.  

Memorial services were held June 15 at the Wilson Funeral Home in Charleston with Rev. Harold Burton Hall officiating.  Graveside services were held June 16 in Grafton at the Haymond United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jeffrey Winter officiating.
