Mildred P. Lewis, 94

Mildred Patrice Iman Lewis, 94, of Petersburg, died June 19, 2005, at the Grant County Nursing Home, where she had lived since July 1997.

Mrs. Lewis was born Jan. 4, 1911, in Pendleton County and was a daughter of the late Harry H. Iman and Evalena Lantz Iman.

She and her husband owned and operated Lewis' Greenhouse from 1947 until his death in 1972.  At that time, their son continued the business with his mother.  She ws a member of the Petersburg memorial Church of the Brethren and the Petersburg Fireman's Ladies' Auxiliary. 

Her husband, William Lewis, preceded her in death in October 1972.  

Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Keplinger and husband, Wayne of Keyser and Juanita Martin and husband, Leonard of  Moorefield; one son, Roger Lewis and wife, Carole of Petersburg; a sister, Lillian Thorne of Keyser; two brothers, Robert Iman of Ellicott City, Md. and Herbert Iman of Petersburg; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Sternat and Mae Kreiner, and five brothers, Ralph, James, Clyde, Harman and Thomas Iman.

The Rev. Harold Cullers conducted the fuenral Wednesday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.  Burial was at the Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville. 

Memorial donations may be made to the Petersburg Memorial church of the Brethren or the Petersburg Fireman's ladies' Auxiliary. 

Henry McDaniel, 56

Henry "Edison" McDaniel, 56, of Hot Springs, VA, died June 16, 2005, at the University of Viorginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA. 

Mr. McDaniel was born June 7, 1949, in Bath County, VA, and was a son of the late Henry Milton and Frances Catherine Hodge mcDnaiel. 

he and his wife owned and operated Bolar Flats Marina at Lake Moomaw.  He was an inspector for Mattern & Craig Engineering and for the town of Monterey.  He was a member of the Bath County Chamber of Commerce. 

On Jan. 20, 1968, he married Linda Varner, who survives. 

He is also survived by two sons, William R. McDaniel of Franklin and Eric T. McDaniel of Monterey, VA; three sisters, Reba M. Cammock of Hot Springs, VA, Shirley M. Terry of Harrisonburg, VA, and Carol Ward of Eden , NC; three brothers, James S. McDaniel of Verona, VA, Roy S. McDaniel of Charlottesville, VA, and Lanier McDaniel of Harrisonburg, VA; a granddaughter and a number of nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Frankie Neff conducted the funeral Sunday at the Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell, VA.

Opal M. Ayers

Opal Marie Lambert Ayers, 87, a resident of the Faulkner community, passed away June 15, 2005, in the Davis Memorial Hospital, Elkins.

She was born Feb. 27, 1918, at Jenningston, a daughter of the late Stellman F. Lambert and Laura Davis Lambert.

Mrs. Ayers was a homemaker and a member of the Lambert Mennonite church. 

On Oct. 1, 1936, at Petersburg, she was married to Lonnie Tison Ayers, who preceded her in death March 9, 1992.

She is survived by one son, Kenneth Ayers and wife, Karen, of Faulkner; and seven daughters, Vera Tinney and husband, George, of Jane Lew, Edna Elza and husband, Herald, of Faulkner, Jean Ray and husband, Lenzie, of Wymer, Izetta Stanke and husband, Gary, of Appleton, WI, Margaret Thompson and husband, Doug, of Sully, Evelyn Ray and husband, Lee, of Middle Mountain and Becky Bonner and husband, Mike, of Dry Fork; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lillian Borders of Columbus, OH; and three brothers, Delmar Lambert of Wymer, Theodore Lambert of Poe Run and Wilmoth Lambert of Bemis.

One son, Lonnie Edward Ayers Jr., two sisters and three brothers also preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held. Friday at the Tomblyn Funeral Home, Elkins, with the Rev. Jerry Ayers and Brother Boyd Wyatt officiating.  Interment followed at the South Branch Memorial Gardens near Petersburg. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Opal Marie Lambert Ayers.
