Zena Coleen Lantz

Zena Coleen Lantz, 94, of Circleville, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at the Pendleton Nursing Home in Franklin.

Mrs. Lantz was born Jan. 26, 1908, in Riverton and was the daughter the late Dr. Lafayette Hall Jordan and Ida Judy Jordan.

She was owner and operator of Lantz Grocery in Circleville and was a member of the Circleville United Methodist Church.

Her husband, Forrest Glenn Lantz, preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 1961.

She is survived by two daughters, Ina Belle Lambert of Circleville, and Ida Jean Stanton of Oakland, MD; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Jesse Judy, and two sisters, Zoe Warner and Zona Bland.

The Revs. Earl Bible and Stanley Kile conducted the funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Circleville United Methodist Church. Burial was in North Fork Memorial Cemetery in Riverton.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gideon's International.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin.

 

Lola Lambert, 92

Mrs. Lola Lambert, 92, of Franklin, died Tuesday morning, June 11, 2002, at the home of her daughter, Katie George of Franklin.

Her husband Esta "Keggy" Lambert, preceded her in death April 9, 1983.

Surviving are five daughters, four sons and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were incomplete at press time and under the direction of the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.

 

Billie Jo Stull, 48

Billie Joe Stull, 48, of Baltimore, MD, died Sunday, June 9, 2002, at her residence of an apparent heart attack.

Born May 14, 1954, at Kline, she was the daughter of Ruby Harper Vance of Glen Burnie, MD, and Upper Tract and the late Fred Vance.

Mrs. Stull was a homemaker.

Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband, Jerry Stull; two daughters, Amanda and Samantha Stull, both of Baltimore, MD; two sons, Minor and Jerry Stull, Jr., both of Baltimore, MD; eight sisters, Elaine Swick of Pasadena, MD, Edith Good, Irene Stump and Donna Herb, all of Upper Tract, JoAnn Plaugher of Franklin, Maxine Morris, Sue Ramsey and Margaret Ferris, all of Glen Burnie, MD; eight brothers, Tom Vance of Upper Tract, Bob Vance of Fort Seybert, Jack and Frederick Vance, both of Baltimore, MD, John and Jerry Vance, both of Brooklyn, MD, Richard and Randy Vance, both of Eastern Shore, MD; and one grandson, Chase Stull.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary and Roger Dale "Rob" Vance.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Stanley Kile officiating. Burial will follow in the Cherry Hill Cemetery, Upper Tract.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family, c/o Basagic Funeral Home, PO Box 215, Franklin, WV 26807.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home this evening.

 

Cecil "C.T." Owen, Jr., 48

Cecil Thomas "C.T." Owen, Jr., 48, of Franklin, died Friday, June 7, 2002, at his home.

Mr. Owen was born May 23, 1954, in Marion, and was a son of Anna Sue Fisher Owen of Lynch Station, and the late Cecil Thomas Owen, Sr.

He was a Staff Sgt. With the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of the Wayside Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Andrea Owen and Staci Owen, both of Franklin; a sister, Staff Sgt. Patricia Owen of Lynch Station; two brothers, Terry Owen of Oak Ridge, TN, and Scott Owen of Harding, PA; and his grandmother, Phyllis Musser of Alta Vista.

Pastor Dan Ludwick and Chaplain Balzora conducted a graveside service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pine Crest Memorial Gardens near Franklin with military rites by the Sugar Grove U.S. Navy Color Guard.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.

 

Bernice Sites Shrader, 70

Bernice (Sites) Shrader, age 70, of Petersburg, died Thursday, June 6, 2002, at the Grant Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 29, 1931, in Whitmer, she was the daughter of the late Osce Sites and Dorothy "Dolly" Sites.

Mrs. Shrader graduated from Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Cumberland, MD, in 1952, She worked for Dr. Luther Rexrode in Franklin until 1962 and retired from Grant Memorial Hospital on Aug. 1, 1998, after 36 years. She was a member of the Walnut Street United Methodist Church in Franklin and a member of the Rebekah Lodge No. 5, in Petersburg.

On July 11 , 1953, she married Robert D. Shrader, who preceded her in death on June 24, 1998.

Surviving are one daughter, Debra, Mitchell and husband, Jeff, of Petersburg; one granddaughter, Samantha Mitchell; two sisters, Shirley Kutz of Fredericksburg, VA, and Shelva Propst of LaPlata, MD; a sister-in-law, Georgia K. Hobbs of Harrisonburg, VA; two brothers, Bobby G. Sites of Dover DE, and Blake W. Sites of Fairfax, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

The Revs. Michael E. Taylor and Richard L. Longbon conducted the funeral at 2 p.m. Sunday at Grove Street United Methodist Church in Petersburg. Interment was at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Franklin.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grant Memorial Hospital Epuipment Fund or Chapel Fund, Gideon's International , or a charity of choice.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Inc., in Petersburg.

 

Edith Louise Sternat, 88

Edith Louise Iman Sternat, 88, or Arbutus, MD, and formerly of Petersburg, died Saturday, June 8, 2002, at Hammonds Lane Nursing Home in Baltimore, MD.

Mrs. Sternat was born Nov. 16, 1913, in Pendleton County, and was a daughter of the late Harry H. Iman and Evalina Lantz Iman.

She retired from Montgomery Ward in Baltimore, MD, after 40 years of service.

Her husband, George F. Sternat, preceded her in death.

She is survived by three brothers, Herbert Iman of Petersburg, Thomas Iman of Dundalk, MD, and Robert Iman of Arbutus, MD; two sisters, Mildred Lewis of Grant County Nursing Home, and Lillian Thorn of Keyser; two step-grandchildren, Vickie Burns and John Listman; one step-great-grandson, Jeremy Burns; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by one step-daughter , Joan Randall; four brothers, Harman Hensel Iman, Ralph Iman, James Iman and Clyde Iman; and one sister, Elizabeth Mae Kreiner.

Pastor Eyler conducted the funeral at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ambrose Funeral Home in Arbutus, MD. Burial was at Meadowridge Memorial Park in Elkridge, MD.
