Mary F. Wright, 57

Mary Frances Eckard Wright, 57, Harrisonburg, VA, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, VA.  She had not been in good health for the past year.

Mrs. Wright was born Feb. 12, 1947, in Brush Fork and was a daughter of the late Alfred Richard Eckard and Annie May Eckard King.

She moved to this area in the 1960s.  She was employed at San Car Corp. for 28 years and worked part-time in the infant department at Wal-Mart.  For the past eight years, she worked for the Park and Recreation Department in Harrisonburg, VA.  

Mrs. Wright was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. 

On Aug. 13, 1966, she married Jerry Wayne Eugene Wright, who survives. 

Also surviving are three children, Mary Lou Shifflett of Elkton, VA, Jerry Wayne Eugene Wright II, of Harrisonburg, VA, and Ronald Wayne Wright of Broadway, VA; four sisters, Anna Lee Calloway of Sprtanburg, SC, Thelma Jean Sherman of Petersburg, Vicky Lynn Losh of Brandywine, and Bertha Ann Calhoun of Upper Tract; four brothers, Teddy Lee Eckard of Moorefield, Charles Eugene Eckard of Elkton, VA, and Elmer Richard Eckard of South Fork; and 10 grandchildren.  

Bishop Alan Nicol conducted the funeral at 11 a.m. Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Burial followed at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.

Lindsey Funeral Home, Harrisonburg, VA, was in charge of arrangements.

Hazel I. Borror, 84

Hazel I. Borror, 84, of Burlington died Thursday, June 3, 2004 at the Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, MD.    

born o May 25, 1920 at Fort Seybert, she was a daughter of the late Weldon Deer and Ester Gertie (Nesselrodt) Hedrick. 

She also was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin C. Borror on Oct. 4, 2001, three sisters, Elsie Michaels, Luria Jenkins and Nora Hendricks; and two brothers, Ervin and Kenneth Hedrick. 

Mrs. Borror was a homemaker and was a member of Bonnieview Apostolic Chapel, Keyser. 

Surviving are two sons, Curtis J. Borror and wife, Marcia, and Carl H. Borror and wife, Margaret, all of Burlington, one daughter, Iva J. Poling of Burlington; one sister, Geneva Simpson of Dayton, VA; 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were conducted at the Bonnieview Apostolic Chapel on Monday, June 7 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Daniel Garlitz officiating.  The body was taken to the church one hour prior to the service.

 Interment was in the Borror Family Cemetery, Burlington.

Curtis L. Rexrode, 92

Curtis Lee Rexrode, 92, of Stuarts Draft, VA, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at King's Daughters' Health and Rehabilitation Center in Staunton, VA. 

Mr. Rexrode was born Oct. 12, 1911, in Winterburn and was the son of the late Emory Jackson and Ada Mae Moats Rexrode. 

He was a former member of the Civilian Conservations Corps and was employed at Hooke Brothers Lumber Company.   

On March 19, 1935, he married Dorothy Elizabeth (Johnson) Rexrode, who preceded him in death March 9, 2001.  

He is survived by six daughters, Curtisene Adams of Maryland, Nina Conner of Roanoke, VA, Marie Bishop of Staunton, VA, Sarah Hite of Verona, VA, Jane Morgan of Crimora, VA, and Donna Burns of Stuarts Draft, VA; two sons, Thurllo Rexrode of new Castle, VA, and Nathan Rexrode of Blue Grass, VA; a sister, Ann Rickman of Waynesboro, VA; 19 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.  

He was also preceded in death by two infant children, three grandchildren, five brothers, Richell, Jesse, Carl, Elmer and Berlie Rexrode, and four sisters, Evelyn Harris, Lilly Brooks, Opal Burns and Avis Bosserman. 

The Rev. Donald E. Rose conducted a graveside service at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Asbury Cemetery.

Ada B. Snyder, 80

Ada Belle Moats Snyder, 80, of McDowell, VA died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at her home. 

Mrs. Snyder was born Aug. 9, 1923, in Pendleton County and was a daughter of the late Neal and Lillie Catherine (Vandevander) Vandevander.   

She was a homemaker and a member of Hiner Church of the Brethren.  She was employed at the former Shen-Mar in Bridgewater, VA, and Marval Poultry in Dayton, Va. 

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Luther W. Moats, and her ex-husband, William C. Snyder. 

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Smith of Verona, VA; three sons, Clyde Delmas Moats of Staunton, VA, Carl Richard Moats of Hagerstown, MD, and Luther Carson Moats of Richlands, VA; a sister, Mildred Moats of Harrisonburg, VA; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. 

The Rev. Dave Boger conducted the funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell, VA,  Burial was at the McKendree Cemetery.

Clara Mae White 

Clara Mae (Arbogast) White, 83, of Circleville, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at the Pendleton Nursing Home in Franklin. 

Mrs. White was born August 22, 1920, in Cherry Grove and was a daughter of the late Archie Arbogast and Sudie Bennett Arbogast. 

She was a mother and a homemaker.  She was a member of the Big Run Presbyterian Chapel. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Berlin White, whom she married on Nov. 10, 1985. 

Survivors include six daughters, Clara Leona Peck and Shirley Ann Bennett, both of Cherry Grove, Martha Gilley of New Market, VA, Alice Losh of Staunton, VA, Darlene Willis of Ranson and Margaret Wimer of Franklin; two sons, Lee Roy Roger White of Dunmore and Thomas White of Cherry Grove; two sisters, Hazel Malcolm of Raphine, VA, and Zetta Bennett of Brandywine; one brother, Roy Arbogast of Cherry Grove; 37 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren. 

She was also preceded in death by three sons, Jackie Eugene White, Paul White and Charles E. White; and two daughters, Ella May White and Donna Sue Colaw. 

Rev. William Cox will conduct the funeral today at 2:00 p.m. at the Big Run Presbyterian Chapel in Cherry Grove.  Burial will be in the White family cemetery at Riverton. 

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. at the Big Run Presbyterian Chapel in Cherry Grove. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Albert S. Hottinger, 81

Albert S. Hottinger, 81, of Harrisonburg, VA, and formerly of Ft. Seybert, died Monday, June 7, 2004, at Avante of Harrisonburg, Va. 

Mr. Hottinger was born Feb. 1, 1923, at Fort Seybert and was a son of the late Isaac and Lena V. Dove Hottinger.

He retired from Harrisonburg Fruit and Produce (now Sysco Foods) after 31 years as a truck driver.  He was veteran of the US Army during World War II.  He was Bethlehem Church of the Brethren of Fort Seybert. He attended Pine Grove Church of the Brethren.  

Surviving are four sisters, Gay Marvin  of Buena Vista, VA, Kay Hamman of Stephens City, VA, Mae Harold of Harrisonburg, VA, and Mary Asher of Ft. Seybert; two brothers, Fred Hottinger, both of Ft. Seybert, a special nephew, Johnny Harold, III, whom he helped raise; a number of nieces and nephews; and a great-niece, Heather Harold.  

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Goldie, Velma and Faye; and one brother, William.  

Rev. Eugene Shaver will conduct the funeral at 1:00 p.m. today at the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.  Burial will be in the Dove Cemetery at Ft. Seybert. 

The family received friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 Wednesday.   

Mary L. Wilfong, 83

Mary L. Wilfong, 83, of Upper Tract, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at St. Mary's Nursing Center in Leonardtown, MD.

Miss Wilfong was born Jan. 30, 1921, in Upper Tract and was the daughter of the late Charles Wilfong and Sarah Elizabeth Ratcliff Wilfong. 

She was a homemaker.  She never married.  

Surviving are a sister, Nellie Kimble of Petersburg and several nieces and nephews. 

The Rev. Stanley Kile conducted the funeral services May 30 at the chapel of the Kimble Funeral Home, Franklin.  Burial was in the Wilson Chapel Cemetery, Upper Tract. 

Mildred L. Smith, 61

Mildred Lee "Peanut" Smith, 61, of Maysville died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, in Rig. 

Mrs. Smith was born May 5, 1943, in Moorefield and was a daughter of the late Robert Riggleman and Pearl Shockey Southerly Riggleman.

She was employed at American Woodmark for 37 years and was a member of Mount Hebron United Methodist Church.  She attended Moorefield High School.  

Survivors include her husband, Robert G. Smith; a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Paul Davis of Winchester, VA; two sisters, Wanda Weatherholtz of Moorefield and Frances Stroop of Mount Jackson, VA; two brothers, Robert Southerly and Charley Southerly, both of Moorefield; and two grandchildren, Paul Thomas and Alicia Davis. 

One son, Robert G. "Mike" Smith, Jr., also preceded her in death in 1974. 

The Rev. Rebecca Bennett and Forrest Rodgers conducted the funeral Monday at Mount Hebron United Methodist Church.  Burial was at Mount Hebron Church Cemetery by Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg.  

Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Hebron Building Fund or the Petersburg High School Scholarship Fund.
