Eva C. Hartman, 89

Eva Catherine (Smith) Hartman, 89, of Broadway, VA, died May 28, 2004, at Oak Lea Nursing Home in Harrisonburg. 

She was born Feb. 12, 1915, in Pendleton County and was the daughter of the late Noah and Angeline Kesner Smith.  

She was a homemaker and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Broadway, VA. 

On Oct. 20, 1945, she married Emory Basil Hartman, who died May 13, 1990. 

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Hilda and Doyle Turner of Broadway, Va; one son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd and Phyllis Hartman of new Market, VA; one foster son and wife, Carroll (Jay) and Treasa Crider of Linville, VA; step-grandson and wife, Tony and Tammy Turner; step-great-granddaughter, Lindsay Burchette, Step great-grandson, Chase Turner, step-great-great-grandson, Baylor Burchette.  

A sister, Verdie Smith Mitchell, preceded her in death.  

The Rev. Kevin Garber conducted a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Faith Baptist Church.  Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery in Mayland, VA.

Mary L. Wilfong, 83

Mary L. Wilfong, 83, of Upper Tract died Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at St. Mary's Nursing Center in Leonardtown, MD. 

Miss Wilfong ws born Jan. 30, 1921, in Upper Tract and was the daughter of the late Charles Wilfong and Sarah Elizabeth Ratcliff Wilfong.  

She was a homemaker. she never married. 

Surviving are a sister, Nellie Kimble of Petersburg and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother. 

The Rev. Stanley Kile conducted funeral services at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of the Kimble Funeral Home, Franklin. 

Skyler Reedy, Infant

Skyler Michael Reedy, six months old, of McGaheysville, VA, died in a fire Friday, May 21, 2004, at his home, 769 Ernests Lane in McGaheysville, VA. 

Skyler was born Nov. 30, 2003, in Harrisonburg, VA, and was the son of the late Michael Simmons and Vicky Lynn Reedy, who also died in the fire. 

Surviving are two half sisters, Desirea Lawrence of Dayton, Va, and Brittany Simmons of Franklin; a half brother, Wesley Simmons of Franklin; his grandfather, Harold Simmons of Dayton, VA, and a great-grandmother, Helen Hamrick of Harrisonburg, VA. 

His body will be cremated at the Lindsey Cremation Chapel in Harrisonburg, VA. 

The Rev. Paul Laprovotte conducted a graveside funeral at 11 a.m. Friday in the Mount Zion Church of the Brethren Cemetery near Singers Glen, VA.

Harry Nelson, Jr., 67

Harry Olin Nelson, Jr., 67 of Baltimore, MD, died of a massive heart attack Saturday, March 13, 2004, at his home. 

Mr. Nelson was born August 18, 1936, in Brandywine and was the son of the late Harry Olin and Bertha Susan Nesselrodt Nelson. 

He graduated from Franklin High School.  He moved to Harrisonburg, VA, where he worked for Coca Cola Company and Walker Manufacturing before moving to Baltimore, MD, where he was employed by JJ Haines until his retirement. 

Surviving are a son, Olin C. Nelson of Grottoes, VA; one sister, Bonnie Jean Dovel of Harrisonburg, VA; two grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. 

Cremation arrangements were made by the Cremation Society of Baltimore, MD.
