Laura Simmons, 93

Laura Mae Simmons, 93, of Moyers died Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg, VA.

She was born Oct. 28, 1915, in Pendleton County, a daughter of the late Harvey and Lucille (Rexrode) Simmons.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul Independent Lutheran Church. She enjoyed reading the newspaper and her devotional and attending community and spiritual activities at Pendleton Manor.

Surviving are three grandsons, Eddie Malcolm of Moyers, with whom she made her home before going to Pendleton Manor in 2002, William "Billy" Malcolm of Staunton, VA, and Jerry Malcolm of Hawaii; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Virginia Bosserman; and a half brother, Ernest Rexrode.

A funeral service was conducted Friday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell, VA, with Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. Burial was in St. Paul Cemetery.

Delmer Lambert, 69

Delmer Lambert, 69, of Edinburg, VA, passed away on Oct. 29, 2008.

Mr. Lambert was born in Bartow on Dec. 9, 1939, the son of the late Arodie and Julia Katherine Arbogast Lambert.

His wife, Evelyn Clem, preceded in death on Nov. 27, 2006.

Surviving are a daughter, Christina Ballenger and husband, Brett of Toledo, IA; a son, Delmer Lambert, Jr. and wife, Jeannie of Tacoma, WA; four sisters, Freda Wimer and husband Carl of Mt. Jackson, VA, Ann Knight and husband Elmer of Edgewood, MD, Reta Dickey and husband, Joe of Gardeners, PA, and Betty Jennings and husband, Bill of Christiansburg, VA; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Rev. Jonathan Jennings will conduct a graveside memorial service on Saturday, May 23, at 11 a.m. at the Lambert Family Cemetery on Elk Mountain, Cherry Grove.

Arrangements are under the direction of Basagic Funeral Home, Franklin.

Etta Mae Shuey, 90

Etta Mae Shuey, 90, formerly of Palmyra, PA, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Manor Care, Lebanon, PA.

Born Sept. 4, 1918, in Franklin, she was a daughter of the late George and Margie (Warner) Hartman.

She retired from the Palmyra High School Cafeteria. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Palmyra, PA, and quilted with the Bethany Quilters.

Her husband, Edwin W. Shuey, preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 2001.

Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Ann and husband, Donald Brubaker of Palmyra, PA; two grandchildren, Kevin and wife, Cindy Brubaker, and Jill Brubaker; two great-granddaughters, Brittany Dunlop and Emma Brubaker; six half sisters, Norma Thomas, Ideva Martin and Thelma Foley, all of Harrisonburg, VA, Alfleda Vandevander of Cherry Grove, Margie Wimer of Franklin and Arveda Nesselrodt of Brandywine; and one half brother, Mayo Arbaugh of Cherry Grove.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Linnie Eye McClure and Nola Nesselrodt.

Funeral services were April 28 at Buse Funeral Home, Palmyre, PA. Interment was in Grand View Memorial Park, Annville, PA.

Reva Ann Raines Kisamore

Reva Ann Raines Kisamore, 77, of Riverton, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2009, at her residence.

She was born at Onego Nov. 12, 1931, the daughter of the late Denver and Margie Harper Raines.

She was a homemaker and farmer.

Her husband of 42 years, William Carl Kisamore, preceded her in death on April 20, 1991.

Surviving are a son, Timothy David Kisamore and wife, Lucy, of Onego; a sister, Dorothy Wolfe and husband, Robert of Martinsburg; three brothers, Morris Raines of Beverly, Elton Raines and wife, Ruth of Cabins, and Jerry Raines and wife, Lorraine, of Seneca Rocks; six grandchildren, Loretha Stump and Melissa Mongold, both of Cabins, Jeremy Kisamore, Larry Shane Kisamore and Lindsay Kisamore, all of Riverton, and Ashley Kisamore, Springfield, VA; 11 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Peggy Hall Kisamore of Riverton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, William Carl Kisamore, Jr., and Larry Allan Kisamore; and a great-grandson, Edwin Hall.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Basagic Funeral Home chapel, Franklin, with Rev. Earl Bible officiating. Interment was in the U. G. Mallow Cemetery, Riverton.

Memorials may be made to Relay for Life or Mountain Hospice.

Oscar Chapman, 80

Oscar R. Chapman, 80, of Martinsburg died Saturday, May 16, 2009.

He was born in Darkesville and was the son of the late Albert and Carrie Hoffman Chapman.

He was a graduate of Martinsburg High School and retired after 32 years of employment at Dupont. He was a US Army Veteran, having served during the Korean War.

His wife of 55 years, Ethel I. Mitchell Chapman, formerly of Upper Tract, survives.

Also surviving are one son; and two daughters.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Rosedale Funeral Home, Martinsburg, with Pastor Richard A. Kroll officiating. Interment with military honors followed in Rosedale Cemetery.
