Riley Clay Hedrick 

Riley Clay Hedrick, 71, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 on a farm on Whites Run, near Job, as a result of a farm tractor accident.

Mr. Hedrick was born in Macksville on June 23, 1937, the son of the late William Isom (Nov. 2, 1981) and Beulah Ilva Kimble Hedrick (Nov. 22, 1976). 

He married Mabel Marie Lambert Hedrick, whom preceded him in death on Aug. 4, 1999.

He was a farmer and a member of Pleasant View United Methodist Church. 

Surviving are one daughter, Rhonda Hedrick and husband Charles of Seneca Rocks; one son, Michael Hedrick, Crested Butte, Eagle River, Alaska; two sisters, Susie Simmons of Franklin and Orma Bland of Petersburg; five grandchildren, Traci Rae McMorrow, Hunter Seth Hedrick, Denali Skye Hedrick, Christina Marie Hedrick, and Nicole Clarissa Hedrick.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Harry McMorrow, and a brother, William Ralph Hedrick.

Funeral services were held Sunday at the Basagic Funeral Home, Petersburg, with Rev. Barbara Rexrode and Rev. Stanley Kile officiating.  Interment was in the Hedrick Family Cemetery, Seneca Rocks.

Dewey Scott Miller

Dewey Scott Miller, 75, of Spotsylvania, VA, and formerly of Seneca Rocks, died Thursday, April 30, 2009, at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, VA.

He was born Dec. 31, 1933, at Seneca Rocks and was the son of the late Denton Miller and Chloe (Lough) Miller.

His wife, Mary Ann (Alt) Miller, survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Mark Miller of Spotsylvania, VA, Daniel Miller of Manassas, VA, and Alan Miller of Rixeyville, VA; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four brothers, Johnie Miller and Truman (Connie) Miller, both of Seneca Rocks, Rosevelt (Betty) Miller of Newburg, MD, and Worth (Patty) Miller of Cabins; five sisters: Pauline Phares of Maysville, Sweetie Vance and companion, John of Onego, Mae (Earl) Sites of Cabins, Velma (Gar) Bland of Seneca Rocks, and Josie (Dayton) Champ of Lahmansville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, infant Joann Miller and Joy Rao; and one brother, Gene Miller.

Funeral services were held Sunday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, with Rev. Brady Goldizen officiating.  Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg.

Thomas Seeders, 66

Thomas Eugene Seeders, 66, of Moorefield passed away Thursday evening, April 30, 2009, at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

Born Oct. 11, 1942, in Berryville, VA, he was the son of the late John W. & Winifred I. (Huffman) Seeders.

He was a US Army veteran and was a retired self employed general contractor.

Surviving is a son, Shawn Seeders of Old Fields; three daughters, Tammy Owens of Tanneytown, MD, Carmen Seeders of Petersburg and Mandy Seeders of Seneca Rocks; a brother, John Seeders of Moorefield; a sister, Christine Myers of Martinsburg, VA; six grandchildren; and his former spouse, Dollie Riggleman.

Military graveside rites were held Monday at the Culpepper National Cemetery, Culpepper, VA, with rites accorded by the local veteran’s organizations.
