Jeffery Allen Miklos

Jeffery Allen Miklos, 37, of Fort Seybert, died Sunday, April 15, 2007, on U.S. Route 33 West in Brandywine, as a result of a single car accident. 

Mr. Miklos was born Jan. 14, 1970, in Harrisonburg, VA, and was a son of Wanda Mae Smith Hedrick of Fort Seybert, W.Va. and the late Andrew Stanley Miklos.

He attended Franklin High School and was a self-employed contractor and painter.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Watson Miklos of Elkton; two daughters, Cheyenne Nicole Miklos of Elkton, VA,  and Misty Lynn Lambert of Sugar Grove, a son, Cody Allen Miklos of Elkton, VA; three sisters, Billie Jo Thompson of Brazil, IN, Terry Lynn Matheny of Rainesville, AL, and Anna Lee Bosserman of West Columbia, SC; two brothers, Brian Miklos of McGaheysville, VA, and Gary Coffman of Dayton, VA; a stepbrother, Stanley William Hedrick, II, of Gettysburg, PA; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are by Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, W.Va.

Velda P. Moyers

Velda P. Moyers, 81, passed away April 14, 2007, at her home in Moyers after a lengthy illness.

She was born Sept. 9, 1925, in Pendleton County, a daughter of the late Charles P. and Cloda A. Pitsenbarger Rexrode.

Mrs. Moyers was a  member of Wayside Baptist Church and a faithful servant of her Lord, Jesus Christ,  She was actively involved in her church and in the lives of her family.  She was a homemaker and a nurse’s aide at Pendleton Nursing Home and she also had worked at Pendleton County Committee on Aging, Franklin Garment Factory and Hanover Shoe Factory.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bryan S. Propst in 1973, and Harlan E. Moyers in 1991.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Kathi Propst of Seneca Rocks; two grandsons, Bryan S. Propst of Kline and Ray Propst of Moyers; two granddaughters, Dawn Lockard of Moyers and Heather Propst of Greenville, SC; a step-granddaughter, Lara Johnson of Kalamazoo, MI; three great-grandsons, Keinyn, Caleb and Isaiah Lockard; a niece, Martha Hancock of Mt. Sidney, VA; and a nephew, Greg Colaw of Blue Grass, VA. 

She was also preceded in death by a son, Ona B. Propst, and a sister, Anna Colaw.  

A funeral service was conducted Tuesday at Wayside Baptist Church by the Rev. Danny L. Williams Sr.  Burial was at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.

The family requests that all contributions and donations be made in her honor to Pendleton County Nursing Home, PO Box 700, Franklin, WV  26807.  

Obaugh Funeral Home, McDowell, VA, was in charge of funeral arrangements. 

Carroll J. Knudson, 84

Carroll J. Knudson, 84, of Waco, TX, died Jan. 20, 2007,. after a time in Goodall-Witcher Hospital and Hillcrst CArdiac Center, Waco, TX. 

Born Nov. 18, 1922, in Mustang, TX, to O.C. and Sadie Jubella Grimland Knudson. 

He graduated from Cranfills Gap High School and was a Navy Air Corps Transport pilot.  He transferred to Jacksonville NAS where he played on the football team.  He and his wife lived in the Mustang community in Texas for 59 years and raised goats and turkeys  He developed farm implements, started a monthly auction and a John Deere dealership for 40 years in Clifton, TX. 

Mr. Knudson served in various positions in St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Cranfills Gap, TX, the Cranfills Gap school board, and Bosque County appraisal board.  After retirement, he played golf with his many cousins at an annual tournament in memory of his grandfather, A.C. Grimland.

On Feb. 26, 1945, he married Bettye Jean Calvert at Cape Canaveral Naval Air Station in Melbourne, FL, who survives.  

Also surviving are three sons, Ole and wife Johnette of Brownfield, TX, Bruce and wife, Cindy, and Conrad and wife, Devan, all of Waco, TX; two daughters, Karen Nelson of Franklin and Laurie Hageman and husband Richard of San Antonio, TX; 15 grandchildren, including Bettye Roxanne and Ryan Calvert Kee, both of Franklin; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Jan. 22, 2007, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Cranfills Gap, TX, with Rev. Terry Adtins officiating.  Burial was at St. Olaf Lutheran Rock Church Cemetery.
