William D. Propst, 71

William D. Propst, 71, Amarillo, TX, and formerly of Moyers, died Sunday, april 8, 2001, at his home.

Mr. Propst was born Oct. 9, 1929, in Penn Laird, VA, and was the son of the late H. Cecil and Lucy Rexrode Propst.

He was a Lutheran by faith. He wasn an Army veteran of the Korean War and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9666 in Sugar Grove. He retired from Defense Mapping, White Sands Missile Range, in 1986 after 35 years of service.

He is survived by two sons, James Bradley Propst and Bruce Douglas Propst, both of Amarillo; two brothers, Charles Leon Propst, Quakerstown, PA, and David A. Propst, Baltimore, MD; three sisters, Virginia Martin, Fayetteville, PA, Shelby Rush, Quakertown, PA, and Anna Mauzy, Franklin; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one son, two brothers and one sister.

The Rev. Cecil D. Bradfield will conduct a graveside service at 2 p.m. today at St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Moyers.

The family received frineds from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.

 

Ruth L. Dwinal, 91

Ruth "Ruthie" Louise Dwinal, 91, Pendleton County Nursing Home, Franklin , and formerly of Moorefield, died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

She was born Dec. 14, 1909, on Wolfe Mountain in Hardy County and was the daughter of the late Columbus and Laura Helmick Wolfe.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Moorefield Church of the Brethren and the Riverside Home Demonstration club. She was very active on the Hardy County Committee on Aging.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and is survived by a son, Charles E. Dwinal, Jr., Chantilly; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Harold Garber conducted the funeral at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Elmore-Chambers Funeral Home in Moorefield. Burial followed at Olivet Cemetery in Moorefield.
