Mildred G. Kiser

Mrs. Mildred G. Kiser, 80, of Brandywine, died Sunday, April 1, 2012 at her home.

She was born August 28, 1931 in Rockingham County, VA and was the foster daughter of the late Effie Collier Leap.

She and her husband, Edwin C. Kiser, owned and operated a poultry farm for 50 years. She was a member of the V.F.W. Post 9666 Ladies Auxiliary and Calvary Lutheran Church. She was an avid country music fan and enjoyed playing music at Ed's Park in Hinton, Virginia.

Her husband, Edwin C. Kiser, whom she married on Sept. 29, 1951, survives.

Also surviving are one son, Roger Kiser and wife, Ann of Brandywine; two daughters, Brenda Fisher and husband, Bob of Brandywine, Judy Grimm and husband, Bob of Brandywine; five grandchildren, Rodney, Robby, Tina, Amanda, Andrew; two great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Logan; and two special caregivers, Brenda Stuart and Steve Stump.

She was also preceded in death by one foster sister, Stella Orye.

Graveside services were held Tuesday at Sugar Grove Cemetery at Sugar Grove with Pastor Jerry Smith officiating.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.

Kenneth J. Snyder

Kenneth J. “Jim” Snyder,72, of Mathias died March 30, 2012 at Rockingham Memeorial Hospital, Harrisonburg, VA.

He was born July 13, 1939 in Brandywine, and was a son of Elna Jean Hahn Snyder of Mathias and the late Carter Snyder.

Mr. Snyder was a member of the Mathias Church of the Brethren.

Also surviving are a sister, Loretta Snyder Souder of Mathias; nieces, Cynthia Wilkins and husband Marvin of Mathias and Annette Shipe and fiancée Jeff Orebaugh of Broadway; great nieces, Rachel Childers, Charity Smith, Lauren Wilkins and Katelyn Fisher.

A funeral services was held Tuesday the Mathias Church of the Brethren with Pastors Bob Curns and Landis Dove officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Mathias, WV.
