Walter Kesner, Jr., 82

Walter S. Kesner, Jr., 82, of Dayton, VA, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at the Augusta Medical Center, Fishersville, VA..

Mr. Kesner was born July 12, 1925, in Kline and was the son of the late Walter Samuel and Mary Elizabeth Lough Kesner Sr. 

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the famous 1st Cavalry Division during the occupation of the Nippon Capital.  He was a farmer and a member of the Ottobine United Methodist Church.

On Oct 30, 1945, he married the former Mary Evelyn Kile, who survives. 

He is also survived by as on, Samuel Edward Kesner of Timberville, VA; a daughter, Linda K. Will of Dayton, VA; four sisters, Betty Joy Howdyshell and Opal Gae Baker, both of Bridgewater, VA, Carolyn Jo Morton, of North Carolina and Charlin Fae Layman of Harrisonburg, VA; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.  

Pastor Carl Stewart will conduct the funeral today at 11 a.m. at McMullen Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, VA.  Burial will follow at Mount Horeb Cemetery in Hinton, VA.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ottobine United Methodist Chuch, 4446 Briery Branch Road, Dayton, VA 22821. 

The family received friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Paul T. Williams, 87

Paul T. Williams, 87, of Falls Church, VA, died March 18, 2008. 

He was born on May 9, 1920, in Washington, VA, to the late Harry B. Williams and Lena Compton Williams. 

His loving wife, Allene Hoover Williams, formerly of Sugar Grove, survives. 

Also surviving are four sons, Paul T. Williams, Donald Williams and wife, Mick, Gary Wayne Williams and his wife, Linda, and Thomas Williams; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Williams. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mona Hanna, and two brothers, John and Dudley Williams.

A graveside service was held on Saturday at Fairview Cemetery, Culpeper, VA. 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Williams name to the Arthritis Foundation, PO Box 96280, Washington DC, 20090.  

Donna Franklin Chappel 

Donna (Ruth) Franklin Chappell, 72, of Brandywine died Thursday, March 27, 2008, at David Crockett Hospital in Lawrenceburg, TN. 

Mrs. Chappell was born July 25, 1935, in Morrisonville, IL, and was a daughter of the late Galen Franklin and Ruth King Franklin.

She was a homemaker and had been employed at Pendleton Senior and Family Services.  She graduated from Morrisonville High School and was a librarian at Brandywine Elementary School.  She was a Methodist and was a member of the Franklin Moose No. 812.  

Survivors include four daughters, Beverly Sandoval of Roseville, CA, Nancy Mitton and husband, Greg of Grove City, FL, Angela Adkins and husband, Rick of Sugar Grove , and Margaret File and husband, Ronnie of Franklin; a son, Calvin Jonathon Springer of Franklin; two sisters, Shirley Jones and husband, David "Butch" of Butler, IL, and Cherie VanGerpen and husband, Dr. Royce of Spokane, WA; two brothers, Galen Lee Franklin and wife, Elaine of Taylorville, IL, and George Alan "Punky" Franklin and wife, Bonny of Morrisonville, IL; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. 

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Richard Franklin. 

 A service of remembrance was held Tuesday  at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin.  Burial will be in Illinois at a later date.  

Memorial donations may be amde to Friends of Library or to the Chappel family, c/o Basagic Funeral Home.  

 Sadie E. Frye, 82

Sadie E. Frye, 82, of Inwood, died March 25, 2008, at Willow Tree Nursing and Rehabilitation in Charles Town. 

Born Feb. 27, 1926, in Moyers, she was the daughter of the late George H. and Mertie M. Rexrode. 

Mrs. Frye was a member of the First Baptist Church and Fidelis Sunday School of Martinsburg.  She was a registered nurse for 44 years, retiring in 1993, from the Veteran's Hospital in Martinsburg.  She graduated from City Hospital Nurses School in 1949 and was a member of the alumni. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Frye, whom she married Sept. 29, 1950; and one brother, Everett Rexrode. 

She is survived by one son, Kevin L. Frye, and wife, Liz of Ashburn, VA; two daughters, Lisa F. Webb of Louisville, KY, and Kimberly A. Funk and husband, Scott of Inwood; eight grandchildren, Brad Frye and wife, Dani, Geoff Frye and wife, Ann, Kyle Webb, David Frame and wife, Lauren, Courtney Webb, Kasey Frank and husband, Darrell, Jessie Nauer and husband, Tom, and Tim Dickens; seven great-grandchildren, Ryan and Taylor Frye, Jordan and Hailey Frame, Jaden Frank, Darrell "Trey" Frank and Matthew Nauer, two brothers, William Rexrode of Williamsport, MD, and Charles Rexrode of Moyers, three sisters, Ruth B Reece of Franklin, Faye Bodkin of Moyers and Thelma Watson of Brandywine; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and other close family and friends.    

Funeral services were held March 29 at Rosedale Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Ed Taylor officiating. 

Interment followed in Rosedale Cemetery.
