Jessie Pearl Arbogast, 88

Jessie Pearl Arbogast, age 88 years, a resident of Parsons, departed this life Monday afternoon, March 24, 2003, at Garrett Memorial Hospital at Oakland, Md., following an extended illness.

She was born July 3, 1914, in Virginia, a daughter of the late Trip Hinkle and Florence Warner Hinkle.

She is survived by her long-time companion, Warren Kisamore of Parsons; three nieces, Rosalee Hinkle, Ruthalene Hinkle and Wilma Lee Strawderman; four nephews, Jason Hinkle, Carole Hinkle, Dalie Hinkle and Burley Hinkle, all of Virginia; and several great-nieces and nephews. 

Also surviving is a great-nephew, whom Mrs. Arbogast raised, William R. “Buddy” Kuykendall of Hendricks.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was preceded in death by her husband, John Arbogast.

She was a homemaker and a noted cook. She had worked for the Marvel Processing Co. of Dayton, VA, and the former Parsons Nursery.  She was a Presbyterian by faith. 

The family received friends at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home on Wednesday  from 6 until 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the Funeral Home Parlor today at 2 p.m. The Rev. Harley De Leurere will officiate and interment will follow at Parsons City Cemetery. 

Raymond E. Kitzmiller

Raymond elmore Kitzmiller, age 65, of Petersburg, died Thursday, March 20, 2003, at his home. 

Mr. Kitzmiller was born Sept. 5, 1937, in Bismarck and was a son of the late Alva M. and Goldie v. (Cosner) Kitzmiller. 

He graduated from Petersburg High School in 1958 and retired in 1993 as postmaster in Brandywine.  He had worked for the US Postal Service for 30 years.  He also worked with the Schaeffer Funeral Home family business in Petersburg. He attended the Rig Assembly of God Church.  he was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the American Legion Post 78 of Petersburg. 

Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Marian K. (Schaeffer) Kitzmiller, whom he married July 3, 1965; one son, R. Steven Kitzmiller and wife, Vickie, of Maysville; two daughters, Melissa L. Evans and husband, Jack of Petersburg, and Cheryl K. Sites and husband, Steven of Harrisonburg, VA; four grandsons, Nicholas Jack Evans, Joshua Tyler Evans, Colby Blake Kitzmiller and Tristan Noah Sites; four sisters, Alta K. Nesselrodt, and Carole Taylor and husband, W.C. Taylor, all of Petersburg, Gloria Judy and husband, Clifton Judy of Roanoke, VA, and Sandra Roberts and husband, Dr. R.E. Roberts of Rehoboth Beach, DE; and several nieces and nephews.  

The Revs. Brad Taylor and Harold Cullers conducted the funeral 2 p.m. Sunday at the Rig Assembly of god church.  Interment was at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Petersburg with military graveside services provided by the Combined Veterans Organization of Grant County and the JROTC.
