George Botkin, 74

George Addison “Jack” Botkin, 74, of Monterey, VA, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at Augusta Medical Center, Fishersville, VA.

He was born May 12, 1934, near McDowell, VA, a son of the late Cameron and Ethel (Puffenbarger) Botkin.

For over 50 years he had worked at Hooke Brothers Lumber Company.  He loved his grandchildren, was an avid hunter and enjoyed going to work.

On June 20, 1953, he married Charlotte Virginia Rexrode.

Also surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Steve Badgley of Stuarts Draft, VA, Pamela and Mike Hawthorne of Staunton, VA, and Tamela and Lowell Simmons of Doe Hill, VA; four sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Annie Botkin and Donald and Karen Botkin, all of Head Waters, VA, Ronald and Caroline Botkin of Monterey, VA, and Douglas and Peggy Botkin of Upper Tract; 17 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a brother, Ed Botkin of Staunton, VA; and a sister, Audrey Mauzy of York, PA.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Randy and Rembert Botkin.

A funeral service was conducted Friday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell, VA, with the Rev. Jerry Smith officiating.  Burial was in the Crummett Family Cemetery near McDowell, VA.

Coy “Bud” Arbogast

Coy “Bud” Arbogast, 79, of Alliance, OH, died at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at Alliance Community Hospital.

He was born Nov.12, 1929, in Cherry Grove to Don and Icie (Teter) Arbogast.

A graduate of Elkins High School in Elkins, he was a colonel auctioneer and owner of the former Arbogast Auction Service.  He was also a realtor and owner of Arbogast Electric Service.

He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Beloit, OH.  He served honorably with the United States Army in the 17th Airborne Division, 550 Battalion as a paratrooper.

His wife, Charlotte (Shaffer) Arbogast, whom he married Feb. 23, 1973, survives.

Also surviving are children, Donell (Pat) Arbogast, Jennie (Edward) Slimon, Jinger (John) Toler, Ty Arbogast, Jolene (Bob) Huffman, Duane (Linda) Porter, Charlene (Chris) Burns, Sharon Phillips, Deborah Phillips, Karen (Irvin) Stiffler, Kevin Phillips, Scot (Melissa) Phillips; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and siblings, Carl (Doris) Arbogast, Betty Jean Pennington, and Guy (Karen) Arbogast and Earl (Daisy) Arbogast.

He was also preceded in death by siblings, Delbert Arbogast, Bonnie Smith, Elva Wamsley, Cynthia Hackett, Hoy “Curly” Arbogast, Dreamis Arbogast and Rosa Lee Campbell; and one son, Bradford Phillips.

Services were held Saturday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home in Alliance, OH.  Local services were held Monday at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens Chapel.

Gene Miller

Gene Miller, 68, of Petersburg went to be with the Lord, Saturday, March 21, 2009, at his home with his loving family at his side.

He was born Jan. 26, 1941, at Seneca Rocks and was the son of the late Denton Miller and Chloe (Lough) Miller.

He was a farmer and retired from Perdue Farms and was a Brethren by faith.

He married Imogene (Thorne) Miller on March 25, 1991, who survives in Petersburg.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are four daughters, Denise (Bo) Arnold of Dorcas, Melissa Judy and companion, Rob Smith, Jaime (George) Johnson and Misti Miller, all of Petersburg; five brothers, Johnie Miller and Truman (Connie) Miller, all of Seneca Rocks, Rosevelt (Betty) Miller of Newburg, MD, Dewey (Marianne) Miller of Spotsylvania, VA, and Worth (Patty) Miller of Cabins; five sisters: Pauline Phares of Maysville, Sweetie Vance and companion, John of Onego, Mae (Earl) Sites of Cabins, Velma (Gar) Bland of Seneca Rocks and Josie (Dayton) Champ of Lahmansville; eight grandchildren, Garrett Sites and fiance, Kimmie Phillips, Salena Sites and Zachary Mongold, Cassie Arnold, Kenston Sites, Jonathan, Isaak, and Ashton Johnson, and Gracie Carpenter all of Petersburg; one great grandson, Devon Ours of Petersburg; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, infant Joann Miller and Joy Rao.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Cullers officiating.  Interment was in the Miller Family Cemetery, Seneca Rocks.
