Mrs. Evelyn R. Lambert 

Mrs. Evelyn R. Lambert, 85, of Franklin died Monday, March 19, 2007, at Pendleton Nursing Home in Franklin. 

She was born June 11, 1921, at Zigler and was the daughter of the late Acra J. Rexrode and Louie Moyers Rexrode. 

She was a seamstress and a cleaning lady and had worked for the Pendleton County Committee on Aging.  She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  

On June 11, 1960, she married Leslie B. Lambert, who preceded her in death on March 7, 2006. 

She is survived by one sister, Edith Eye of Pendleton Nursing Home, Franklin; one brother- Teddy Rexrode of Grottoes, VA; and a number of nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by four brothers. 

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the chapel of the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin with Elder David Hartman officiating.  Burial was at the Rexrode-Hoover Cemetery near Moyers.  

Dr. Cyril I. Sease, Jr., 89

Dr. Cyril Iredell Sease Jr., 89, of Harrisonburg, VA, died on Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at his home. 

He was born Sept. 8, 1917, in Cumberland, MD, and was the son of the late Cyril Iredell and Mary Dyson Sease.  

On March 27, 1945, he married Erma Blanch "Toby" Spencer, who preceded him in death on Oct. 30, 1992. 

He graduated Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond, VA, in 1936, Virginia Tech in 1940 and the Medical College of Virginia in 1943 where he took his residency. 

After serving as assistant resident in surgery at the Chesapeake and Ohio Hospital at Clifton Forge, he became the assistant resident and resident in urology at St. Vicent's Duval County Hospital in Jacksonville, FL.  

After completing his training in Urology, he served as a captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps from 1945 until 1947. 

HE moved to Harrisonburg, VA, from Jacksonville, FL, in 1941 to become Harrisonburg's first urologist and continued his practice with his brothers until his retirement in 1987.  Dr. Sease was a Diploma of the American Board of Urology, a member of the American College of Surgeons, and also the American Southern, Virginia and Rockingham County Medical Societies as well as consultant to Shenandoah County Memorial Hospital.  

Dr. Sease was a member of the Harrisonburg Baptist Church, BPOE No. 450, the Harrisonburg Rotary Club, and the Spotswood Country Club. 

Surviving are one daughter, Carole Sease of Roanoke, VA; two sons, John C. Sease and wife, Ginger D. of Keezletown, VA, and James S. Sease and wife, Celia of Mathews, VA; one brother, Dr. James R. Sease of Harrisonburg, VA; three sisters, Dorothy Rowland of Virginia Beach, VA, Margie Burrus of Williamsburg, VA, and Lucy Davis of Richmond, VA; and eight grandchildren, Elizabeth Henderson, John Christopher Sease, David RAndall Sease, Nicole Amber Sease, Logan Garrett Sease, Matthew Spencer Sease, Susan Rebecca Sease and William Robert Sease.  

He was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Lynn Sease, and a brother, Dr. Robert Hammond Sease. 

Memorial services were conducted Saturday afternoon at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, VA, by Rev. T.W. Johnson and Rev. Paul O'Gorek.  Private burial was in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

Radie A. Nelson

Radie Arbogast Nelson, 87, formerly of Bartow and a resident at Pendleton Nursing Home in Franklin, died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at the nursing home. 

Mrs. Nelson was born July 22, 1919, in Pendleton County and was a daughter of the late Martin Arbogast and Perlena Bennett Arbogast. 

She was a homemaker. 

Her husband, Clyde Samuel Nelson, preceded her in death Sept. 23, 1988. 

Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Waggy and husband, Danny of Franklin; two sons, Jesse L. Nelson and wife, Violet of Ravenna, OH, and K. Leon Nelson and wife, Cheryl of Arbovale; three sisters, Mary "Tommie" Howdyshell of Andover, OH, Ruth Ervin of White Sulphur Springs and Darie Arbogast of Dunmore; a brother, Emier "Bucky" Arbogast of Louisiana; eight grandchildren, D. Denise Salmons, W. Andrew Nelson, Lori A. Huffman, Matthew Nelson, Stephanie Nelson, April Nelson, Bradley Nelson and Stacy Waggy; and eight great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by two sons, Samuel Martin and Clyde "Willy"; two daughters, Radie Lois and Ruth Marie; one brother, Russell Ray; two sisters, Emma Mae Rexrode and Sally Ervin; and grandchild, Kimberly Arbogast.  

The Rev. Harold Swecker conducted the funeral Tuesday at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale.  Burial was at the Arbovale Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made toe Pendleton Nursing Home, Franklin.  

Mary A. Collett, 65

Mary A. Collett, 65, of Harrisonburg, VA, died Friday, March 16, 2007, at the Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, VA. 

Mrs. Collett was born Nov. 24, 1941, in Upper Tract and was the daughter of the late John and Lacy (Kimble) Ratcliffe. 

She worked for Wampler Foods in Harrisonburg, VA, as a grader for more than 27 years. 

Her husband of 46 years, Dorsey Collett of Harrisonburg, VA, survives. 

Also surviving are one son, Robert Collett of Harrisonburg, VA; two daughters, Joyce Collett and Louise Hummel and her husband, Roy, all of Harrisonburg, VA; one sister, Shirley Champ of Upper Tract; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. 

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Joe and June Ratcliffe.

Pastor Tony Martin conduct a memorial service Monday at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, VA.  The burial was private. 

Jesse Steve Cowger, 62

Jesse Steve Cowger, 62, of Baltimore, MD, died March 13, 2007, at the Baltimore Washignton Medical Center in Glen Burnie, MD.

Born Oct. 10, 1944, in Franklin, he was the son of Hazel Smith Cowger Hussey of Virginia and the late Edward Lee Cowger. 

Mr. Cowger served with the US Air Force from 1968 to 1971.  He was employed by McLean Contractors for 36 years as a carpenter. 

Surviving in addition to his mother, are a girlfriend, Joan Smith of Maryland; two daughters Karen Cowger and Michele Moyers, both of Maryland; one son, Kenneth Cowger of North Carolina; four grandsons, Dustin Collins, Steven Moyers, Joshua Moyers and Brandon Moyers, all of Maryland; two granddaughters, Amanda Cowger of Virginia and Cathy Lynn Nally of Maryland; two sisters, Eleanor Hoover of Brandywine and June Parnell of Stephens City, VA; and one brother, Eldon Cowger of Maryland.  

He also was preceded in death by a sister, Francis Wright. 

Funeral services were held Monday at the Gonce Funeral Service in Baltimore, MD.  Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Brooklyn Park, MD.
