Stacy Keith Armentrout

Stacy Keith Armentrout, 36, of Franklin passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, as the result of an auto accident.

Mr. Armentrout was born in Petersburg on Sept. 13, 1973, the son of Larry K. and Cathy Johnston Armentrout of Franklin.

He was a 1991 graduate of Franklin High School. He worked for Valley Renovators in Harrisonburg, VA, and was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and motorcycling.

On Sept. 16, 2007, he married Britteny Geneen Glover, who survives in Franklin.

Surviving, in addition to his wife and parents, are three sons, Alex Armentrout (age 12) of Harrisonburg, VA, and Connor Armentrout (age five) and Trey Armentrout (age one), both of Franklin; two brothers, Christopher Armentrout and wife, Gina, and Daniel Armentrout, all of Franklin.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Basagic Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin with Bishop Ronnie Kimble and Elder David Hartman officiating. Interment was in the Johnston Cemetery on Smith Creek Road, Franklin.

Harry Nesselrodt, 81

Harry Ralph Nesselrodt, 81, of Harrisonburg, VA, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg, VA.

Born June 30, 1928, in Fort Seybert, Mr. Nesselrodt was the son of the late Charles and Blanche Nesselrodt.

Mr. Nesselrodt was a brick and stonemason. He also owned and operated Harry R. Nesselrodt & Son Builders until his retirement in the early 1990s.

Mr. Nesselrodt attended the First Assembly of God Church on Garbers Church Road in Harrisonburg, VA.

He will be remembered by his wife and family as a loving and faithful husband, father and grandfather upon whom they could always rely.

On May 6, 1950, he married Virginia Nutter Nesselrodt, who survives.

Also surviving are his children, Pamela S. Nesselrodt, Harry R. Nesselrodt, Jr., and Robyn N. Liddle and her husband, J. Geoffrey Liddle; and one granddaughter, Emily Grace Liddle.

A private graveside service was conducted by the Rev. Jeffrey B. Ferguson on Monday in Woodbine Cemetery. Music was provided by Richard Blosser and Brenda Knicely.

Arrangements were entrusted to Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, VA.

Lorraine Shirey, 82

Lorraine L. Shirey, 82, of Hedgesville, passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Berkeley Springs Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Born June 20, 1927, in Berkeley Springs, she was the daughter of the late Abasha Sheppard and Sarah Biser Sheppard.

Her husband, Forrest L. "Poe" Shirey, preceded her in death.

Surviving are four daughters, Gail Holler of Cresaptown, MD, Lillian A. Powell and her husband, Paul of Ridgeley, Patty Bolton of Brandywine and Connie Markley and her husband, Russell of Hedgesville; one sister, Goldie Scott of Martinsburg; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, John, Nelson and Orbie Sheppard; and two sisters, Lola Penwell and Viva Mann.

Funeral services were held Saturday at Rosedale Funeral Home, Martinsburg, with Pastor James Wilkinson officiating. Interment followed in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg.

Oscar Allen Bennett

Oscar Allen Bennett, 88, of Franklin passed away on Friday, March 12, 2010, at Pendleton Manor in Franklin.

Mr. Bennett was born in Circleville on Nov. 17, 1921, the son of the late Clem Floyd and Beulah Dessie Mullenax Bennett.

He was a retired superintendent from WV Department of Highways and was employed there from 1957-1959 and 1969-1972. He also retired from the Pendleton County WV ABC Commisson, having worked there from 1972-1987. He was a 1941 graduate of Circleville High School, past president and zone governor of Spruce Mountain Ruritan Club and a member of Walnut Street United Methodist Church.

His wife, Mary Florence Rexrode Bennett, preceded him in death on Oct. 18, 2005.

Surviving are a daughter, Jo Ann Duran and husband, Charles of Upper Tract; a sister, Cora Moyers of Franklin; a brother, Abraham Floyd Bennett of Cherry Grove; two granddaughters, Jennifer Ann Kisner Bednarski and husband, Brian of Martinsburg, and Amy Dawn Kisner Mullineaux and husband, Timothy of New Market, MD; four step-grandchildren, Russ Duran and wife, Candi of Gallup, NM, Karen Duran Knox and husband, Rob of San Diego, CA, Robin Duran and Lynn Susanne Duran-Bloome of Atlanta, GA; five great-grandsons, Matthew Richard Bednarski, Jason Paul Bednarski, Ian Patrick Mullineaux, Andrew Michael Mullineaux and Sean Ryan Mullineaux.

He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Leona Mae Kisner and Betty Lou Bennett.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Basagic Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin with Rev. Stanley Kile officiating. Interment was in North Fork Memorial Cemetery, Riverton.

Memorials may be made to Mountain Hospice or Pendleton Manor.
