Kremit Brown Berg, 97, of Petersburg and formerly Smith Mountain, Seneca Rocks, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2011, at Grant County Nursing Home.

He was also preceded in death by nine brothers, Gladius, Theodore, Demby, Kermit, Roscoe, Olaf, Dempsy, Noah, Jr., and Paul.

Funeral services were held Monday at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg with Rev. Paul Donaldson and Rev. Lynn Rohrbaugh officiating. Interment was in the Armentrout Family Cemetery, Seneca Rocks.

Ronald Jefferson Mongold, 64, of Stephens City, VA, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, in the Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA.

Mr. Mongold was born Nov. 23,1946, in Winchester, Va, the son of the late Jack S. And Anna Hinkle Mongold of Franklin.

Also surviving are three daughters, Kim Orndorff, Kelly Packard, and Staci Murphy, all of Winchester, VA; a step daughter, Jessica Lowery of Stephens City, VA; a step-son, Matthew Lowery of Stephens City, VA; three nephews, Aaron Mongold, Jeffrey Mongold, and John Mongold; a niece Vivian Barb; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and seven grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Karyn Mongold; a son, Ronald Mongold, Jr.; and two brothers, Junior Mongold and John Mongold.

Funeral services were held Friday at the Enders and Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, Stephens City, VA, with Pastor Chris Straley officiating. Burial followed at Mount Hebron Cemetery in Winchester, VA, with military honors provided by the Winchester VFW Post #2123 Honor Guard.

Nellie Mae Smith, 90, of Upper Tract passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

Mrs. Smith was a lifetime member of the Upper Tract Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, a member of Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church and a homemaker.

Surviving are five daughters, Mary Hedrick and husband, Green, and Macie Dahmer, all of Franklin, Thelma Simmons and husband, Donnie of Forrestville, MD, Sandy Chapman and husband, Myron of LaPlata, MD, and Ruth Franks of Hagerstown, MD: four sons, J. Bruce Smith and wife, Sarah, Johnny Smith and wife, Sylvia, and Dennis Smith all of Upper Tract, and Riley Junior Smith and wife, Alicia of Harrisonburg, VA; five half sisters, Eleanor Thompson of Upper Tract, Catherine VanMeter, Rebecca Miller and Melva Cornett, all of Petersburg, Virginia Pancake of New Creek and Ruth Simmons of North Carolina; one brother, Ralph Turner of Roanoke, VA; two half brothers, Paul Turner of Petersburg and Evers Turner of Upper Tract; 29 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren; a niece Elsie Turner Grant; and two nephews, Ronald and Danny Turner.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Charles and Roy E. Smith; two brothers, Harman and Glenn E. Turner; and two sisters, Martha J. Mongold and Bertha M. Turner.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home, Franklin, with Rev. Rita G. Beeman officiating. Interment was in Cherry Hill Cemetery, Upper Tract.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church or Upper Tract Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

She was born in Franklin on Oct. 1, 1941, and was a daughter of Kermit Adam Judy of Franklin and the late Buanna Cornelia (Hartman) Judy.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Harrisonburg, VA, where she served as organist for the congregation since 1966 and was active in other church callings. She was a graduate of Franklin High School, class of 1959. She was a secretary at S.B. Hoover and Co. for 30 years.

Surviving, in addition to her husband and father, are a daughter, Lori Efird of Staunton, VA; a son, Matthew Wilson, M.D., and wife, Vikki of Lexington, KY; two sisters, Barbara Harman of Hinton, VA, and Jennie Lou Hott of Franklin; eight grandchildren, Kyle Wilson, Kayleigh Wilson, Nathan Wilson, Ashleigh Wilson, Ryleigh Wilson, Alexander Efird, Maggie Efird and Andrew Efird.

A funeral service was held Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Harrisonburg, VA, with Bishop Seth Stratford officiating. Burial followed at Monterey Cemetery, Monterey, VA.

Also surviving are his second wife, Gloria; her three children, Linda Aasen and husband, Steve, Susan Hoffman and husband, Jay, and Roxanne Murray and husband, Dan; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held March 4 at Lutheran Church of Peace, Maplewood, MN. Eulogies were given by his daughter, Susan DeMarchi, and step-daughter, Linda Aasen.
