E. Tyson Propst, 94, Brandywine, died Friday, March 2, 2001, at Rockingham memorial Hospital in harrisonburg, VA.

Mr. Propst was born Oct. 1, 1906, in Brandywine and was a son of the late Martin Frank Propst and Julia Ann Dickenson.

 He was a farmer most of his life, a carpenter and a craftsman. He was a member of the Martin Luther Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a brother, Stanley R. Propst, Brandywine; three sisters, Helen B. Lough and irene Stone, both of Harrisonburg, VA, and Shirley Rexrode, Brandywine; one brother-in-law, Paul Mitchell, Bridgewater, Va; a niece and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Delsie Mitchell.

Pastor Dana Holter conducted a graveside service at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Propst family cemetery in Brandywine.

Iva Arvella Alt, 72, Moorefield, died Thrusday, March 1, 2001, at her home.

Mrs. Alt was born May 12, 1928, in Smoke Hole and was a daughter of the late Vernon J. and Glona L. Alt Kimble.

She was a member of Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Charles Alt; two sons, Charles Daniel Alt and Michael Lee Alt, both of Moorefield; four daughters, Kitty Loug Spreeman, Reno, NV, Pamela Ann Alt, winfield, Lisa Colleen Crites, New market, Va, and Joyce Lynn Wolfe, Moorefield; three brothers, Ira V. Kimble, Lexington, Va, Loyen Kimble, Augusta, and Luther Kimble, Hyattsvielle, MD; a sister, Loris Shreve, Smoke Hole; and 14 grandchildren.

The Rev. Ted Osgood conducted the funeral at 2 p.m. Sunday at Fraley Funeral Home in Moorefield. Burial followed at the Olivet Cemetery.

Elsie Marie Hinkle, age 85, of Louisville, OH, passed away February 21, 2001, in Green Meadows Care Center at Louisville, OH, following an extended illness.

Mrs. Hinkle was born June 12, 1915 at Riverton to the late jason and Nela (Day) Harper.

She was a member of the Fairhope United Methodist Church where she was active in the church's women's club as well as other community activities.

She leaves behind a son Berlyn R. Hinkle; one brother, Edsel Harper of Canton, OH; three sister, Leva harper of Warren, OH, Lona Hinkle and Roberta Bennett, both of Riverton; and several nieces andnephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Hinkle, who passed away May 19, 1998; an infant daughter, Shirely; a sister, Gae Landes; and an infant brother, Orlando.

Funeral services were held at Pazuelet-Falk Funeral Home in Louisville, OH, with the Rev. Charles Graham officiating. Burial was at the Center Church of the Brethren Cemetery at Louisville, OH.

The Reverend Dr. Charles R. (Chuck) Echols, age 58, of Clarksburg, and current pastor of the Duff Street United Methodist Church in Stealey, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, in Bluefield, from a sudden illness.

He was born in Richwood on January 5, 1943, a son of the late Dr. John Edward Echols and Virginia Pauley Echols.

His wife, Sue Wells Echols, survives. Also surviving are two step-sons, Scott Allen Thompson, Franklin, and Steven Wells Thompson, Fulks Run, VA; two brothers, Dr. John Echols, Lewisburg, and Dr. William Echols, Huntington; and two step-grandchildren, Andrew Scot Thompson and Raven Ciera Greer.

Rev. Echols graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan, Buckhannon, and received his Masters of Divinity at Duke university in North Carolina, and his Doctorate of Ministry at the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, Pittsburgh, PA.

He had been in the ministry for 34 years having been pastor at Beckley Temple, Beckley, Stevenson United Methodist Church , Parkersburg, Franklin United Methodist Church, Franklin, Salem United Methodist Church, Salem, Peters Town United Methodist Church, Ripley, Bland Street United Methodist Church, Bluefield, and currently the pastor of the Duff Street United Methodist Church, Clarksburg.

A memorial service was held Friday, March 2, at the Duff Street United Methodist Church in Clarksburg with Rev. Dr. Frank Shomo, the Rev. Dr. Tom Bickerton, the Rev. Dr. Randy Flanagan, the Rev. Dr. Joe Kenaston, the Rev. Dr. Roy Knight, the Rev. Stephen Rector, the Rev. Susan Rector and the Rev. Dr. Joe Shreve presiding.

The family requests that donations in lieu of flowers may be given to the Duff Street United Methodist Church, 400 Duff Street, Clarksburg, WV 26301.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Davis Weaver Funeral Home in Clarksburg.

Anna Lee Ours, 60, Rough Run, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA.

Mrs. Ours was born July 31, 1940 in Hardy County, and was the daughter of the late Alvin and Clara Crites.

She was a member of rough Run Church of the Brethren. She was previously employed at the former Hanover Shoe Company in Franklin and later worked at the Former Windsor Knit and Petersburg Garment Company.

On Nov. 19, 1958, she married Bobby L. Ours, who survives. She is also survived by two sons, Lee Ours, Arthur, and Melvin Ours, Petersburg; two sisters, Norma Bowman Cleaver, Arthur and Louise Steffey, Oakmont, PA; four grandchildren and Glenn Ours, Jr., who was like a son.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by one brother, Harvey Crites, and two sisters, Helen Michael and Geraldine Armstrong.

The Rev. Thomas "Sam" Goldizen conducted the funeral at 2 p.m. Monday at Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg. Burial was at the Ours family cemetery Rough Run.
