Carl Douglas Burns, Sr.

Carl Douglas Burns, Sr., 61, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at his residence in Riverton.

Mr. Burns was born on Oct. 15, 1948, in Riverton, the son of the late Don L. and Mary Catherine Kile Burns.

He retired in 2007 from Greer Lime, where he operated a rock crusher for 36 years. He graduated from Circleville High School in 1968 and was a Mormon.

On Sep. 27, 1973, he married Betty Virginia Lloyd, who survives in Riverton.

Also surviving are a daughter, Kathy Iman of Granite Falls, NC; five sons, Carl D. Burns, Jr., and wife, Tracy of Maysville, Donald L. Burns, Jr., of Seneca Rocks, Quentin Burns and wife, Kelly, of Brandywine, James Donitzen and wife, Cynthia of Biloxi, MS, and Michael R. Donitzen and wife, Patricia of Broadway, VA; one sister, Anna Jean Simpson of Lansdowne, MD; three brothers, Charles A. Burns and Curtis E. Burns, both of Riverton, and Paul Burns of Mill Creek; and 17 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held today at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home, Franklin with Elder Willard H. Huffman officiating. Interment will be in the Burns Family Cemetery, Riverton. Military graveside services will be provided by the Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard.

Family received friends on Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Misty Dawn Petrice-Penn

Misty Dawn Petrice-Penn, of Winston-Salem, NC, and formerly of Petersburg, passed away Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at WFU Baptist Medical Center.

She was born May 22, 1978, in Randolph County to James Edward Petrice, Jr., of Jamestown, NY, and Brenda Sue Sites of Belington.

She attended Rock Hill Baptist Church and Church of the Brethren, Petersburg, and was employed by Waffle House. She was a member of True Riders Car Club and Winston World Wide Records.

Previously, she lived in Petersburg with her aunt, Wanda Harman-Goff, and attended Petersburg Elementary and Petersburg High School for several years. She attended the Memorial Church of the Brethren in Petersburg. She was very active in activities, participating in beauty pageants, cheerleader, color guard, band and Girl Scouts.

Her husband, Jacob Penn, III, survives.

Also surviving are five children, Samone Lane and Brandon Penn of Winston-Salem, NC; and Samantha Lane, Domquimc Petrice and Sammi Lane, all of West Virginia; mother, Brenda Sites of Belington; father and step-mother, James and Dolly Petrice of Jamestown, NY; maternal grandmother, Maxine Sites; paternal grandparents, James and Betty Petrice of Elkins; father-in-law, Jacob Penn, Jr.; mother-in-law, Donna K. Welch, Winston-Salem, NC; four step-sisters; four step-brothers; two sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather; Holly Sites of Elkins; great-grandfather, Doan Harman of Onego; and uncle, Mark Petrice.

The funeral service was held Saturday at Burroughs Funeral Home Chapel, Walnut Cove, NC, with Evangelist Natashia Franklin officiating. Burial followed at the Rock Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Evan Eye, Infant

Evan Michael Eye was stillborn on Feb. 20, 2010, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, VA.

He was the son of Richard Allen and Shana Lee Johnson Eye of Brandywine.

Also surviving are a brother, Zane Benjamin Eye of Brandywine; grandparents, Mary and Clinton Eye of Brandywine and Tim and Cheryl Johnson of Ft. Seybert; great-grandparents, Allen and Betty Eye of Brandywine: and step-great-grandfather, Charles E. Rexrode of Sugar Grove.

Pastor Cindy Skinner conducted a memorial service Saturday at Riverside United Methodist Chuch, Brandywine.
