Maude E. Kuykendall 

Maude Elizabeth Kuykendall, 80, of Fort Seybert died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, VA, where she had been a patient for the past week.  

Mrs. Kuykendall was born Oct. 3, 1925, in Kline and was the daughter of the late Clay Albert Mitchell and Myrtle Melinda George Mitchell. 

She was a homemaker and was a member of the Bethlehem Church of the Brethren, where she was a former primary Sunday school teacher.  

On Aug. 16, 1947, she married Russell M. Kuykendall, who preceded her in death March 1, 2005. 

She is survived by a daughter Bonnie Lambert of Elkton, VA; a son, Leon Kuykendall and wife Helen of Fort Seybert; a brother Glen Mitchell of Grottoes, VA; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.  

She also was preceded in death by eight brothers and three sisters.

Wayne Nelson, 64

Wayne Carroll Nelson of Fredericksburg, VA, died on Feb. 24, 2006, in Catlett, VA. 

He was born on April 13, 1941, in West Virginia to the late Mason J. and Nellie V. Nelson. 

He was a master carpenter and a member of the Fredericksburg Flyers Club. 

He is survived by his wife, Betty J. Nelson of Arlington, VA.

Also surviving are three children Donna Nelson of Arlington, VA, Lonnie Nelson of Fredericksburg, VA, and Lori Nelson of Lorton, VA; three brothers, Jerry L. Nelson of Vienna, VA, William L. Nelson of Taylorsville, UT, and Donald R. Nelson of Charleston, SC; two sisters, Leona Conley of Fairfax, VA, and Judy A. Higgins of Front Royal, VA; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.  

HE also was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Nelson. 

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Moser Funeral Home, Warrenton, VA..  Interment will be in the Nelson Family Cemetery, Riverton, today at 1 p.m.

Clara Markwell

Clara Markwell, 82, of Seneca Rocks died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2005, at Grant County Nursing Home in Petersburg. 

Mrs. Markwell was born June 28, 1923, in Antwerp, Belgium, and was the daughter of the late Constantinus Macauter and Paula Maria De May.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lorin Lester Markwell, Oct. 9, 2000.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in0-law, John Markwell of Seneca Rocks; and two grandchildren, Brock and Katie Markwell.  

Her body was cremated. 

Arrangements were under the direction of the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.  

Verona Brent Bible Harper 

Verona Brent Bible Harper, 93, of Littlestown, PA, went to be with the Lord Feb. 12, 2005, at the Lutheran Retirement Village, Gettysburg, PA. 

Born Oct. 10, 1912, in Simoda, She was the daughter of the late Wilbur Bible and Nannie Mallow Bible. 

Mrs. Harper was retired from the Musselman Canning Factory in Biglerville, PA.  She was a member of Barts Centenary United Methodist Church, Littlestown, PA. 

Her husband of 57 years, Elmer Austin Harper, preceded her in death in 1986. 

Surviving are three daughters, Mildred Hope Davis and husband, Earl of Littlestown, PA, Ina Harper Lawver and husband, Burton of California, and Norma Harper Beachtel and companion, John Bodo of California; one son, Elmer Leo Harper and wife, Lee of California; eight grandchildren, Carolyn Vile, Randy Davis, Sandra Chapman, Roxanne Lawver, Jeffrey Lawver, Pamela Bible, Michael Beachtel and Kristen Harper; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great 0grandchildren; and one sister, Doris Krug and husband, Donald of Hanover, PA.

Funeral services were conducted Feb. 16 at the Little's Funeral Home, Littlestown, PA, with Pastor Edward Alwine officiating.  Burial was in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Littlestown, PA.   

Margaret Hurlbutt, 71

Pastor Margaret "Peggy" A. Shearer Hurlbutt, 71, died Feb. 23, 2006, at Sunset Home, Concordia, KS. 

She was born March 23, 1934, at Middletown, CT. 

Pastor Hurlbutt was minister of the Walnut Street United Methodist and Harper's Chapel United Methodist churches from 1980 to 1999. 

Her husband, Henry Hurlbutt, preceded her in death in 1982. 

Surviving are one son, Frederick Hurlbutt of Courtland, KS; two daughter, Ruth Wright of Newport, KY, and Bethia King of Dekalb, IL; four grandchildren; one sister, Jean Samolyk of Middletown, CT; and two brothers, Leigh Shearer of East Hampton, CT , and Worthy Shearer of Alamogordo, NM.

Her body was donated to KU Medical Center. 

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Courtland, KS.  Inurnment will be in Gales FErry Cemetery, Gales Ferry, CT.  

Memorials may be made to the Margaret A. Hurlbutt memorial fund.  

Calvin Auville, 80

Calvin Auville, 80, of Charlotte, NC, went to join his heavenly father on Feb. 24, 2006. 

Born April 5, 1925, in Onego, he was the fifth of 14 children of the late Guy Carl and Polly Kisamore Auville. 

Mr. Auville grew up in Onego and lived there until 1943, when he entered the U.S. Navy for three years during World War II.   In 1946, he moved to Dayton, VA, where he met his bride- to- be, Jacqueline (Jackie) Wine. 

In 1947, he began his employment with Celanese Corporation of America in Bridgewater, VA.   In 1960, he was transferred to their Charlotte, NC, Location where he traveled internationally to provide customer service.  After 37 years of service, Mr. Auville Retired from Celanese in 1984 as manager of Fabric Styling and Development.  During his career he was granted several U.S. patents in fabric styling. 

Mr. Auville was a member of Briery Branch Church of the Brethren in Virginia, where he served in various capacities.  In Charlotte, NC, he joined St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, where he served on the Administrative and trustee boards.  He was also active in the United Methodist Men, the Adult Sunday School Class, the Swinging Saints Square Dance Club and the Senior Harvesters. 

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Jackie; their three children, Ted Auville and his wife, Carolyn of Miller's Creek, NC, Joy Auville of Apex, NC, and Jill Carraway and her husband, Danny in Greenville, NC; and six grandchildren, Stewart Auville of West Palm Beach, FL, and Scott Auville, both of whom were raised by their grandparents, and his wife Wendy of Charlotte, NC, Meghan Hill and her husband, Keith of Pensacola, FL, and Christian Carraway and Adam Carraway, both of Greenville, NC: one great-grandson, Cameron Auville of Charlotte, N.C.; two brothers, Stanley Auville of Dayton, VA, and Golden Auville of Bridgewater, VA; six sisters, Helen S ites of Elkins, Margaret Anderson of Dayton, VA, Shirley Miller of Harrisonburg, VA, Reva Shull and Sue Capp, both of Bridgewater, VA, and Mary Lee Brown of Phoenix, AZ; and many nieces and nephews.  

In addition to his parents, Mr. Auville was preceded in death by four brothers, Granville Auville, Ricahrd Auville, Harvey Auville and Marvin Auville; and a sister, Eva Hartman. 

The Service to Celebrate the Life and Homecoming of Calvin Auville was held Wednesday at the Johnson Funeral Service of Bridgewater, VA.  Entombment followed at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg, VA.  

The family requests that memorials may be made to St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, 1900 Emerywood Drive, Charlotte, NC 28210, or to the American Heart Association, 222 South Church Street, Suite 303, Charlotte, NC 28202.
