He was born Feb. 21, 1930, at Franklin and was the son of the late Roy Campbell Ruddle and Leta Simmons Ruddle.

Mr. Ruddle had worked for the West Virginia Department of Highways, had been a heavy equipment operator and was a timberman. He was a United State Navy Veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Ruddle Presbyterian Church and the V.F.W.

Also surviving are two daughters, Susan Jones and husband Dave of Petersburg and Patricia Ruddle of Franklin; two sons, Charles Bradley Ruddle and Anthony Roy Ruddle and wife, Jenny, all of Franklin; on sister, Thelma Wolfe of Rock Lodge, FL; one brother Bobbie W. Ruddle and wife, Erma of Mathias; three grandchildren, Katlyn Renee Ruddle, Hannah Grace Ruddle and Bryson Cordell Ruddle; and a special nephew, Curtis Crigler and wife, Betty of Churchville, VA.

Funeral services were held Saturday at Christ Central Community Church at Upper Tract with Pastor Craig Richter and Greg Adamson officiating. Burial was at the Ruddle Family Cemetery at Franklin with military graveside services conducted by member of the Pendleton county Honor Guard. Delbert “Mac” Stover McQuain, 80, of Fishersville, VA, passed away Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at Augusta Health Center, Fishersville, Va.

He was born April 11, 1930, in Pendleton County and was a son of the late John Oscar and Mary Ethel (Rexrode) McQuain.

Mr. McQuain was a graduate of Franklin High School and was a member of Totten Chapel United Methodist Church in Moyers. He served in the United State Air Force. He was employed by and retired from Western State

Hospital after 30 years of service. He was also a member of the Waynesboro Moose Lodge #1309. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed time spent in his gardens.

Also surviving are a mother-in-law, Pauline Rankin of Staunton, VA; a brother-in-law, Connie Rankin and wife, Jatanna of Verona, VA; three sisters-in-law, Janet Nuckoles of Staunton, VA, Ellen Grant and husband, Kenneth of Stuarts Draft, VA, and Brenda Whetsell and husband, Tom of Mt. Olive, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life was conducted Tuesday at the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel, Staunton, VA, by Rev. Mae Reeder. Burial followed in the Augusta Memorial Park.

Jo Ann Parrott Joseph, 71 of Brandywine passed away on Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, VA.

A native of Haywood County, NC, she had resided in Brandywine for the past 25 years and was the daughter of the late Grant Alton and Mary Ruth Medford Parrott.

Mrs. Joseph attended Waynesville Township High School and was a former employee of Dayco Corporation and worked at several supermarkets. She and her husband, “Buck” owned and operated The Cabin Restaurant in Brandywine until spring of 2010. She was an avid and accomplished quilter and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Also surviving are a son, Jack Chambers and his wife, Lynn of Crabtree, NC; a daughter, Tina McCall and her husband, Bill of Crabteee, NC; a sister, Jimmie Smathers (Doug) of Waynesville, NC; three brothers, Bill (Nina) and Grant Parrott, Jr. (Clara), all of Waynesville, NC, and Jack “Bustie” Parrott of Clyde, NC; and two grandchildren, Brooke McCall Hyatt and her husband, Cody of Crabtree, NC and Taylor Chambers, a freshman at Appalachian State University. Her granddaughters affectionately refer to her as “Nannie Mommie.”

Funeral services will be held today at 8:00p.m. in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home, Waynesville, NC, with Reverend Mark Caldwell officiating. A committal service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Kathleen Scanlan, 67

She was a member of the Sunset Drive United Methodist Church in Broadway, VA. She graduated with a B.A. from Eastern Mennonite University. She was a retired bank officer at the Sun Trust Bank in Harrisonburg, VA, and was on the board of directors for the CASA and a volunteer at Skyline Literacy.

Surviving are a son, John M. Daniels of Franklin; a sister, Dorothy Martin of Bridgewater, VA; a brother, John H. Scanlan III of Cleveland, OH; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The Rev. Robert Throckmorton conducted a funeral service Tuesday at the Sunset Drive U. M. C. Burial followed at the Linville Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
