Mrs. Hartman was born March 13, 1935, in Brushy Run, W.Va., and was a daughter of the late Kermit and Dona E. Alt Kimble.

On Aug. 8, 1953, she married Michael Emerson Hartman, who survives.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Karen Lenahan and Marilyn Faye Peer, both of Baltimore, MD, and Sonya Marie Janouris of Bell Camp, MD; two sons, Michael Emerson Hartman Jr. of Blanchard, LA, and Joseph Allen Hartman of Baltimore, MD; a sister, Linda McKee Moyers of Camp Spring, MD; two brothers, Cecil Kimble of Midlothian, VA; and Dwight Douglas Kimble of Upper Tract; 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The services will be private.

Mary Katherine McGhiey, 88, a resident of Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center, Harrisonburg, VA, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006.

Mrs. McGhiey was born April 20, 1917, in West Virginia, and was a daughter of the late Charles W. and Clara E. Moyers Elyard.

She graduated from Franklin High School and moved to Harrisonburg, VA, area in 1992 from Keyser. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Franklin.

Her husband, Don H. McGhiey, preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sisters, Georgia E. Williams of Harrisonburg, VA, and Sylvia Marie Evans of Petersburg; and a brother, Samuel B. Elyard of Clarksburg.

Her body will be cremated at the Lindsey Cremation Chapel in Harrisonburg.

Mildred Bergdoll, 94

Mildred Bergdoll, 94, of Dorcas, died Feb. 9, 2006, at Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg.

Mrs. Bergdoll was born May 27, 1911, in Pendleton County, she was the daughter of the late Eugene R. and Odessa Mae Judy Alt. 

She graduated from Petersburg Hihg School in 1931.  She was a member of the Grove Street United Methodist church and held many leadership positions.  She was a substitute cook for Grant county Schools for several years and was a member of the  Grant county Commission on Aging.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin W. Bergdoll, on Sept. 15, 1987. o

She is survived by two daughters, Sharee M. Bergdoll of Dorcas and Nancy B. Goldizen and husband, Reggie, of Lahmansville; a sister, Edna M. Sites of Dorcas; a brother, Dewey Broaddus Alt of Palmyra, Pa.; a daughter-in-law, Irma B. Garber of Dorcas; six grandchildren, Gayann Goldizen Veach and husband, Jerry Veach of Lahmansville, Yvonne Bergdoll Lantz and husband, Lester "Skip" Lantz of Martinsburg, Sonja Bergdoll Harper and husband, Dr. Terry S. Harper of Franklin, Michelle Bergdoll Hedrick and husband, Roy A. Hedrick of Dorcas, and Germaine Bergdoll Hawkins of Danville, IN, and husband, the late James R. Hawkins, and Darwin Keith Bergdoll II and wife, Cheryl Bergdoll of Dorcas; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Darwin Keith Bergdoll; infant twin sisters, Mary C. Alt and Leona A. Alt; and seven brothers, infant Stanley E. Alt, William K. Alt, Grover M. Alt, Steward D. Alt, Eugene R. Alt, Samuel E. Alt and Norris O. Alt.

The Revs. William R. Brown and Richard L. Longbon conducted the funeral Monday at Grove Street United Methodist Church.  Burial was at South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens in Petersburg.

Memorial donations may be made to Grove Street United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or Grant Memorial Hospital Chapel Fund.

William Rodgers, 76

James William "Bill" Rodgers, 76, of Annandale, VA, and formerly of Petersburg, died Monday , Feb. 6, 2006, at Fairfax Hospital, Fairfax, VA. 

Mr. Rodgers was born Sept. 11, 1929, in Petersburg and was son of the late Rex A. Rodgers and Norene E. Bodkins Rodgers.

He was a retired painter and was an Army veteran of the Korean War.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 76 of Petersburg, W. Va. 

Survivors include his wife, Louella Reel Rodgers; a son, John A. Rodgers of Augusta; four daughters, Elva Smith of Fredericksburg, VA, Pamela de Niord of Fallbrook, CA, and Carolyn Haslacker and Wanda Stump, both of Woodbridge, VA; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two aunts, Reva Hevener of Frnaklin and Ethel Sherman of Maysville. 

He was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Curwood Lee Rodgers, and two infant sisters, Genevive Mae and Velva jean Rodgers. 

The Rev. Lyle W. Berg Sr. and Forrest Rodgers conducted the funeral Thursday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.  Burial was at Maple Hill Cemetery in Petersburg with military honors by the VFW Post 6454 of Grant County and the JROTC.

Dwight Harper, 85

Arthur "Dwight" Harper, Sr., 85, of Monterey, VA, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2006, at his home.  

He was born Jun 11, 1920, in Highland County, VA, near Forks of Water, a son of the late Doc and Maggie (Lambert) Harper. 

Mr. Harper spent the majority of his life as a brick mason and farmer.  He was a former member of Harper's Chapel United Methodist Church.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, having served in the European Theatre. 

He was the last member of his immediate family. 

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gladys (Warner) Harper; a son , A Dwight Harper, Jr., of Upper Tract; three daughters, Phyllis Brock of Mill Gap, VA, Karen Rexrode and Debra Parker, both of Monterey, VA; eight grandchildren, Bridgette Harper Allen, Jeanette Harper Weeks, Sheryl Brock Herber, Stacey M. Rexrode, April Rexrode Armstrong, Ryan P. Harper, Aaron F. Harper and Zachary T. Vandevander; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.     

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Joey Brock, Two sisters and a brother. 

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell, VA, by the Rev. Danny L. Williams, Sr.  Burial with military honors will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Franklin. burial with military honors will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Frankin.

Loy W. Hartman, 87

Loy W. Hartman, 87, a resident of Heartland of Keyser and formerly of Fort Ashby, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2006, at the nursing home. 

Born march 17, 1918, in Onego, he was a son of the late Warnie and Delia (Roy) Hartman. 

Mr. Hartman was retired from the Chessie System as a crane operator.  He was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran and recipient of the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medals.  He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Fort Ashby, Fort Ashby VFW Post #6667, National Rifle Assoc., Clinton Lodge #86 AF&AM, Scottish Rites of Wheeling and Romney Chapter #84 OES.

His wife, Florence V. Hartman, preceded him in death on April 15, 2005. 

Surviving are two daughters Sandra Schadler and husband, Bob of Keyser, and Diana Chaney and husband, Donald of Fort Ashby; three sister, Ruby Auvill and husband, Carl of Harpers Ferry, Mae Vance of Onego, and Helen Hartman of Franklin; four grandchildren, Lucien Bennett and wife, Mindy Sean Bennett and wife, Susie, Geoffrey Schadler and Michelle Schadler; and five great-grandchildren, Matthew, Hunter, Reagan and Keegan Bennett and Taya Schadler. 

He also was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Mullennex and a brother, Forrest Hartman. 

Funeral services were conducted at the Trinity United Methodist, Fort Ashby, Tuesday with the Rev. James A. McCune officiating.  Interment followed in Fort Ashby Cemetery.  Military honors were accorded at the cemetery. 

the Fort Ashby Firemen held a memorial service at Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Monday.
