Everette F. Grimes

Everette Francis Grimes, 79, of Upper Timber Ridge, Circleville, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, in Virginia Beach, VA.

Born Dec. 12, 1927, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Everette Grimes Sr. and Sarah Webster Grimes.

Mr. Grimes was retired the United States Health Education and Welfare and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Air Force.  HE attended St. JOhn's ACademy College in Washington, DC, and was a member of the Deale Elks Club, Deale, MD, and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.

His wife, Wanda Arbogast Grimes survives. Also surviving are one son, Christopher Grimes and wife, Melissa of Virginia Beach, VA; and four grandchildren, Kelsey and Quinn Grimes of Southern, MD, and Jospeh and Joshua Grimes of Virginia Beach, VA..

A mass of Christian Burial will be held today at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Franklin, with Rev. Mario Claro officiating. Burial will be in the Wimer Cemetery with military honors by the Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Chesapeake Health Foundation, 736 Battlefield Blvd. N., Chesapeake, VA.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. .

Lenora H. Deavers, 82

Lenora Constance Harman Deavers, 82, of Boonsboro, MD, and formerly of Rough Run was recieved into the arms of her Savior on Sunday,  Feb. 11, 2007.

Born Nov. 9, 1924, in Mozer, she was the daughter of the late Bessie Greenawalt Harman and Oliver Glenn Harman and step-mother, Leola Harman.. 

She graduated from Petersburg High School in 1942 and received a scholarship to attend the West Virginia Beauty School in Martinsburg.  After graduating, she worked as a beautician in Hagerstown, MD.  

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Curtis T. Harman, Earl Harman and Raymond Armentrout; two sisters, Sarah Mallow and Jaunita Sponaugle; and stepmother Leola Harman.

Mrs. Deavers enjoyed serving others throughout her life by volunteering at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro, MD, and with the Washington County Hospital Auxiliary for 38 years. She was an active member of Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church in Boonsboro, MD. 

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, J. Wesley Deavers.

Also surviving are one daughter, Connie D. Giles and husbnad, Roger, of Williamsport, MD; three grandchildren, Barrett Giles of Charlotte, NC and Benjamin Giles and Calla Giles both of Williamsport, MD; one sister, Dolsey Harriman of Kingwood; one brother, Glenn Harman of Fairmont; and nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Curtis T. Harman, Earl Harman and Raymond Armentrout; and two sisters, Sarah Mallow and Juanita Sponaugle.  

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church in Boonsboro, MD,  with Revs. Robert Brennan and Dr. James Swecker officiating. Burial will be in Kline Cemetery, Kline, on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Longbon officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to Washington County Hospital Auxiliary Memorial Fund, 251 E. Drake A. Carver

Drake Andrew Carver, three-month-old son of Blake Hunter Carver of Wardensville and Jessica Marie Higgs of Cabins, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at the Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA.  He was born Oct. 23, 2006, in Petersburg.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by paternal grand-parents, Melody and Rick Burrows of Wardensville  and Paul and Nancy Carver of Elkins ; maternal grandmother, Joyce Gress of Cabins, maternal grandfather, Elmer Higgs of Baltimore, Md.; and maternal great-grandparents, Chuck and Donna Turner of Seneca Rocks.

Pastor Kevin Henry will conduct the funeral Sunday at Fraley Funeral Home in Moorefield. Burial will follow at the Asbury Cemetery, Bean Settlement.

Laura Geneva Smith Berry, 91, of Harrisonburg, VA, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at Willow Estates.

Mrs. Berry was born July 1, 1915, in Moyers, and was the daughter of the late Samuel W. and Abbie Simmons Smith.

She graduated from Linville-Edom High School in 1935 and lived in Washington, DC, for 10 years. She was a homemaker, an avid gardener and was a member of Mount Bethel Church of the Brethren.

On Dec. 27, 1937, she married Willard "Bill" Berry, who preceded her in death Feb. 13, 1999.

She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Berry of Harrisonburg, VA, and two grandsons.

Mrs. Berry was the last survivor of her immediate family.

The Revs. John Jantzi and Ken DeWitt conducted the funeral Monday at Mount Bethel Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.

Roberta Mae "Robbie" Bland, 82, of Harrisonburg, VA, and formerly of Circleville, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburgm VA.

Born Dec. 18, 1924, in Circleville,  she was the daughter of the late Robert S. Vandevander and Lillie Mae Calhoun Vandevander.

She was a homemaker, attended Circleville High School and was a member of the Circleville Presbyterian Church.

Her husband, Carroll Bland, preceded her in death Nov. 24, 1984.

Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Thomas of Burke, VA; two sons, Ronald Bland of Harrisonburg, VA, and Terry Bland of Leesburg, VA; two sisters, Lorene Wade of Charleston  and Virginia Lambert of Glen Burnie, MD; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death was one sister, Nellie Nelson. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Circleville Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Will Vaus officiating.  Burial will be at Rymer-Calhoun Cemetery in Circleville.

The family will receive friends from 6p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, W.Va.
