Gary Stephen Warner, 43

Gary Stephen Warner, 43, Bartow, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, of injuries received in a logging accident on Middle Mountain at Bartow.

Mr. Warner was born Dec. 27, 1957, at cherry Grove and was the son of Helen Channell Warner of Franklin and the late Manson Gary Warner.

He was a mechanic for Ronald Warner Logging company.

He is survived by his wife, Sara Lynn Warner; three sons, Aric B. Warner, Justin R. Warner and Gary W. Warner, all of the home; six sisters, Brenda Mullenax and husband, Richard of Cleveland, OH, Ruthaleen May and husband, Willard of Moyers, Marilyn Propst and husband, Perry, Susan Rexrode and husband, Ronnie, Barbara Moats and husband Sander, and Jenny Ruddle and husband, Roy, all of Franklin; two brothers, Roger Warner and wife, Brandy, and Geroge Warner, all of Elkins; grandparents Dorfice and Gracie Channell of Valley Head; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Warner.

The Rev. William Vandevander and Dr. Paul O"Gorek conducted the funeral Friday at 2 p.m. at the Thornwood Community Church at Thornwood.

Interment was in theLambert Cemetery atThornwood.

Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale was in charge of the arrangements.

 

McClure Sponaugle, 77

McClure Sponaugle, 77, of Avon Park, FL, died Feb. 12, 2001, at Lake Wales. FL.

Born in Circleville, Oct. 14, 1823, he was the son of the late Harman Henry and Etta Brian Warner Sponaugle.

He retired in 1986 as an assembly line worker for Ford Motor Company in Canton, OH. He was a member of Sunridge Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Margaret "Peggy" Sponaugle of Avon Park, FL; four sons, Terry Sponaugle of High Point, NC, Mark, Erick and Charles Hendrickson, all of Canton, OH; one daughter, Carolyn Sue Wagner of Lexington, NC, one brother, Roscoe Sponaugle of Greenwood, VA; and three sisters, Levene Butcher of Riverton, Edelta Lambert of Circleville, and Kitty Waybright of Sebring, FL; eight grandchildren and one-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Saturday 11 a.m. at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, Sebring, FL.

 

M.C. Braithwaite, 47

Mary Christina "Chris" Harper Braithwaite, 47, Cross Junction, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001 in Winchester Medical Center, Winchetser, VA.

Ms. Braithwaite was born July 28, 1953, in Winchester, VA, the daughter of Robert Bard and Nancy Ware Edwards Harper. She was a French teacher at Handley High School and retired after 20 years.

She earned her BA degree in French from Lynchburg College and did graduate work at the Universite de Nice.

She was a member of the American Association of University Women, the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, and the Retired Teachers Association.

She was formerly married to Harry L. Braithwaite, III of Frederick County.

Surviving are two daughters, Megan Christian Braithwaite and Laura Lee Braithwaite, both of Frederick County; one sister; Marsha Ann Gochenour of Frederick County; and a brother Philip Edwards Harper of Clarke county

She was the niece of Janet Conrad, Ft. Seybert, Mary Lee Eye and Kenneth Harper, both of Franklin, and Elwood Harper of Pensacola, FL.

A funeral was held January 20at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with the Rev. Peter Ford and Paul Brown officiating. Burial was in Mount Hebron Cemetery.

Myrtle L. Hartman, 92

Myrtle L. Hartman, 92

Myrtle Elizabeth Lough Hartman, 92, Norfolk, VA, formerly of Franklin, went to her eternal rest on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, in a local health care center.

She was a homemaker and a minister with the Independent Association of God International. She was born in Harrisonburg, VA, the daughter of the late Hattie Dora Glover Lough and Howard Lough, and was the widow of James Henry Hartman.

Survivors include four brothers, Howard Leon Lough of Washington D.C., Arlie Cecil Lough, James Russell Lough and Robert Conrad Lough, all of Cumberland, MD; 12 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Hansel and Paul Hartman.

Mrs. Hartman was sent from Norfolk, VA, to the Conrad and Thompson Funeral Home in Kissimmee, FL, for services and burial.
