Erma Mary Arbogast, 90, of Woodstock, VA, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, VA.

Mrs. Arbogast was born July 22, 1911, in Circleville and was the daughter of the late Isaac G. Cook and Effie Wimer Cook.

She was employed by the Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C., where she retired after 30 years in the government. She was a member of the Circleville United Methodist Church.

On Jan. 31, 1928, she married Richard Vosler Arbogast, who died May 19, 1978.

She is survived by two daughters, Wanda Lee Grimes and husband, Everette of Circleville, and Jacqueline Emmart and husband, Clyde W., all of Woodstock, VA; four grandchildren, Roger A. Emmart, Peggy S. Emmart, Linda L. Emmart and Christopher Grimes; five great grandchildren, Michael Emmart, Jacqueline Emmart, Lisa M. Morris, Kelsey Grimes and Quinn Grimes; one great-great-great-grandchild, Christina M. Morris.

She was also preceded in death two brothers, Marshall Cook and Frank Cook; and one half-sister, Sally Rymer.

The Rev. Stanley Kile conducted the funeral at 2p.m. Monday at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Burial was at the North Fork Memorial Cemetery in Riverton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Circleville United Methodist Church.

Edwin Mark Nesselrodt, 81, of 20 Johns Valley Drive, Fishersville, VA, died on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at Augusta Medical Center, Fishersville, VA. He had lived in the Rawley Springs community before going to Fishersville, VA, to live with his daughter.

He was born April 28, 1920, in Ft. Seybert and was a son of the late Joseph and Della Graham Nesselrodt.

He was a mechanic at Pontiac Garage, Franklin. Later he worked at Frank Harman Hatchery, then the Shell Station on Hwy, 33. Following his retirement, he worked for 14 years at the Harrisonburg, Auto Auction. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Mennonite Church and attended the Dayton Mennonite Church.

He is survived by one daughter, Judy Dudley of Fishersville, VA; one brother, Tommy Nesselrodt of Harrisonburg, VA; a grandchild, Anthony Eugene Nesselrodt, and great-grandchild, Caitlin Renee Nesselrodt.

He was preceded in death by a son, Eugene Vance Nesselrodt.

A memorial service was conducted at Johnson Funeral Service Chapel in Bridgewater, VA, Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at 2 p.m. with the Revs. Herman Reitz and Earl Delp officiating. Private burial was earlier in the day.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.

Ada Ray Thorne, 85, of Dorcas, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

Mrs. Thorne was born February 23, 1915, in Grant County, and was the daughter of the late Orva Justin Mauzy and Lena (Feaster) Mauzy.

She was a homemaker and wonderful mother. She was a member of the Brake Church of the Brethren.

Her husband, Earl M. Thorne, preceded her in death on August 10, 1979.

Surviving are one son, Justin Thorne of Moorefield; four daughters, Arlena Sites of Quicksburg, VA, Juanita Brady of Petersburg, Sylvia Sites of Petersburg, and Betty Barbe of Old Fields; two sisters, Mary Alice Conrad of Petersburg, and Carrie Bergdoll of Augusta; four brothers, Ronald Mauzy of Dorcas, Marvin Mauzy of Falls Church, VA, and Glen Mauzy of Petersburg; 17 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three grandsons, Michael Earl Brady, infant Bruce Wayne Sites, and infant Kenneth Dewayne Sites; one great-grandson, infant Hayes Coppe; one sister, Viola Mongold (lived in Franklin); three brothers, James Mauzy, Rev. Carl Mauzy and Virgil Mauzy.

Pastor Craig Howard conducted the funeral at 2 p.m. Friday at the Brake Church of the Brethren. Burial was in the Brake Cemetery at Dorcas.

Memorials may be made to the Brake Church of the Brethren or Gideons International.

Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg was in charge of the arrangements.
