Byron Lambert, 93 
Byron Lambert, 93, formerly of Bridgewater, VA, and Hagerstown, MD, died Jan. 11, 2005, at Arden courts Assisted Living in Silver Spring, MD.
Mr. Lambert was born Dec. 30, 1911, in Oceola and was a son of Lafayette and Sarah Elizabeth Bennett Lambert.
He attended the University of West Virginia and in 1935, he began a three year tour of duty in the Army, serving in the 21st Infantry. After his honorable discharge, he owned and operated a service station in Franklin. He was employed at the Fairchild Industries in Protection Division in Hagerstown, MD, until retiring in 1977.
Mr. Lambert was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Bridgewater, Va, and had been a member of the Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years.
He was married to June Kisamore Lambert for 64 years, who passed away in 2004.
He is survived by two sons, John K. Lambert of silver Spring, MD, and Kenneth Wayne Lambert of Bridgewater, VA; two sisters, Mildred Mitchell and Dessie Hedrick, both of Franklin; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by one son, David B. Lambert, who preceded him in death in 1990.
A memorial service was held Saturday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Burial followed at Rest Haven Cemetery.
Jeanette, Eye Brunn, 82
Nina Jeanette Eye Brunn passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2005, after suffering a long illness. She resided for the past five years in Coeur D'Alene, ID, in the care of Kitty and Bob Brunn.
Mrs. Brunn was born Sept. 14, 1922, in Deer Run and was the daughter of the late Wade Whitney and Etta Mae Dunkle Eye and granddaughter of William W. and Susan Elizabeth (Bettie) Sinnett Eye and Newman Greenberry and Gina Dahmer Dunkle.
She was a graduate of Franklin High School and Potomac State college. She was well known for her position as court reporter for the Nuremburg Crime Trials, Nuremburg, Germany, at the end of WWII and as administrative assistant at Boise Payette (Boise Cascade), Boise, ID. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her quick wit and sense of humor.
She is survived by four children, Margie Brunn of Salt Lake City, UT, Susie Bourne and son-in-law, David of Lakewood, WA, Bob Burnn and daughter-in-law Kitty of Coeur D'Alene , ID, and David Brunn of Seattle, WA; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter; one brother, Herbert Elton Eye of Deer Run; and one sister, Sylvia Mae Hartman of Charles Town.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John (Jack) Brunn; one sister, Mary Mildred Eye Smith; and one brother Earl Hoaward Eye.
At her request, there will be no funeral service.

Creola Crystal Harper
Mrs. Creola Crystal Harper, 86, of Riverton died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005 at Pendleton Nursing Home in Franklin.
She was born Feb. 25, 1918, at Dunmore and was the daughter of the late Chrstopher W. Dilley and Daisey Sharp Dilley.
She was a homemaker and had worked at Franklin Garment company. She was a member of Riverton United Methodist Church.
On Oct 8, 1942, she married Harlen H. Harper, who preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1996.
Surviving are two daughters, Peggy Thompson of Winchester, VA, and Patsy Weese of Franklin ; three sons, Thomas Harper of Riverton, Conley Harper of Lubbock, TX, and Stanley Harper of Riverton; one brother, Kyle Dilley of Charleston; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters and one granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 16 at Riverton United Methodist Church at Riverton with Pastoral Intern John "Jay" Linaburg, Pastor Dan Ludwick and Rev. Barbara Rexrode officiating.
Burial was at North Fork memorial Cemetery at Riverton.

Donald Malcolm Sr., 74
Donald "Don" Randolph Malcolm, Sr., age 74, of McDowell, VA, died Jan. 9, 2005, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 11, 1930, in McDowell, VA, a son of the late Claude Allen and Mildred (Siron) Malcolm.
Mr. Malcolm graduated from Franklin High School in Franklin and attended Bridgewater College. he retired after 32 years of service from General Development Corporation in Florida as a construction superintendent. He moved back to his homeplace near McDowell, VA, to be close to his brothers. He was a member of McDowell Presbyterian Church and Stonewall Ruritan Club and he enjoyed caring for "Boots" the cat.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Mae (Nelson) Malcolm, on July 31, 1982, and his second wife, Luella Faye (Woods) Malcolm, on Jan. 28, 2002.
He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Beverly Ann Kunc of Lincoln, NE, and Debi Sue and Clark Wilson of Punta Gorda, FL; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald R. Jr. and Patricia Malcolm of Punta Gorda, FL; a step-daughter, Deanna Kay Rosier of Belleview, FL; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronald Malcolm and his wife, Darlene "Sue" of McDowell, VA; a brother-in-law, Felix "Phil" Zaniewski of Las Vegas, NV; and numerous nieces and nephews, including beloved caregivers, Drs. Joseph and Koressa Malcolm of McDowell, VA.
A sister, Dorothy Zaniewski, and two brothers, Joseph Brown Malcolm and Claude A. malcolm Jr., also preceded him in death.
A funeral service was conducted Saturday at McDowell Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Lester LaPrade. Burial was in McDendree Cemetery.

Ruth Boggs Lucas
Ruth Boggs Lucas, 92, formerly of Franklin, died Dec. 30, 2004, died Dec. 30, 2004, at the Atlantic Shores nursing Home in Melbourne, FL.
Mrs. Lucas was born May 3, , 1912, in Franklin and was a daughter of the late Byron Boggs and Katie McCoy Boggs.
She was a graduate of both Franklin High School and West Virginia University and also had attended Shepherd college.
Mrs. Lucas was employed as a home demonstration agent in Virginia and West Virginia until the 1960s when she and her husband, William Edward Lucas, moved to Howie-in-the-Hills, FL.
Mrs. Lucas is survived by a nephew, Neil F. Boggs of Vienna, VA; a step-daughter, Barbara Vernon of Florida; three step-grandsons, Bill, Matthew, and Russell Vernon, and seven step-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her husband by two brothers, Brownley Price Boggs and Brooke McCoy Boggs.
A graveside service was conducted at the Taylor Memorial Cemetery in Howie-in-the-Hills, FL, Jan. 8.

Watson A. Harold, 80
Watson A. Harold, 80 of Hinton VA died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, VA.
Mr. Harold was born Jan. 1, 1925, in Pendleton County, and was the son of the late John M. and Vesta J. Guyer Harold.
He retired from the shipping department at Perdue Farms and was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
On April 13, 1945, he married Audrey Ellen Rogers, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Gene Harold of Harrisonburg, VA, Gerald Harold of Dayton, VA, Larry Harold of Weyers Cave, VA, and Gary Harold of Mount Crawford, VA; a sister, Juanita Orndorff of Strasburg, VA; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Roger Chandler conducted a graveside service Monday at the Cedar Hill Cemetery.

William Sims, 86
Retired Navy Capt. William Edward "Pappy" Sims, 86, a resident of Annapolis, MD, for 42 years, died of pneumonia Jan. 13 at his home after a two-week illness.
Born July 8, 1918, in Tallapoosa, GA, Capt. Sims was a member of the Class of 1942 at the Naval Academy, and played center on the 1939-1940 football team. he received a professional degree in aeronautical engineering from the California Institute of Technology.
During World War II, he served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Lexington until it was sunk on May 8, 1942, and then on the USS Nevada and the USS Sawfish. He attended the Naval Post Graduate School in Annapolis and later served aboard the USS Pickerel. He was stationed in Point Mugu, Calif., and was aboard the USS Gudgeon and the USS Theodore Roosevelt. From 1967 to 1969 he was with Submarine Squadron 16 in Rota, Spain. He retired as a captain in 1972.
He was a member of the Naval Academy Golf club.
Surviving are his wife, Martha Whigham Sims, whom he married Jun 16, 1942; two sons, William E. Sims Jr. of Arnold MD, and James Charles Sims of Sugar Grove; two daughters, Donna Simms of Troy, NY, and Angela Costa of Lexington Park, MD; seven grandsons; and two great-grandsons.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Jan. 25 at the Naval Academy Chapel, with inurnment in the Naval Academy Columbarium.

Ella S. Trumbo, 62
Ella S. Trumbo, 62, of Harrisonburg, VA, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, VA. she had not been in good health for the past several years.
Mrs. Trumbo was born April 6, 1942, in Upper Tract and was a daughter of the late Ralph Hopkins Kimble and Verda Ethel Judy.
She graduated from Franklin High School and retired from the GTE Phone Company, now Verizon, after 28 years of service. She was a caregiver for a number of people in the community.
On June 10, 1960, she married William Roy Trumbo, who preceded her in death on Dec. 12 1994.
She is survived by a daughter, Sharon T. Hoover of Harrisonburg, VA; four half sisters, Ginger Goding of Orlando, FL, Jennifer Weese and Marcella Hinkle, both of Maysville, and Norma Jean Bible of Petersburg; and two half brothers, Jearl Conrad of Cumberland, MD, and Jackie Judy of Maysville.
The Rev. Tresa Quarles conducted the funeral Wednesday at the Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, VA. Burial followed at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

Irene M. Simmons, 81
Irene Marie Simmons, 81, a resident of Annapolis, MD, died on Thursday, Jan. 13 2005, at Chesapeake Future Care Nursing Home in Arnold, MD, having suffered a major stroke in 2004.
Mrs. Simmons was born in Pendleton county and was a graduate of Circleville High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Herman H. Simmons, in 1944. He preceded her in death.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother for over 50 years. She retired from the National Geographic Society as a systems analyst after 25 years of service. She was a member of and Sunday School teacher at Trinity Assembly of God and Gaithersburg Assembly of God.
Surviving are a sister, Rutholeen Judy of Riverton; sons, Daniel Simmons of Florida and Richard D. Simmons and wife, Glenda of Davidsonville, MD; grandchildren, Richard and Robin Simmons,, Dayleanne and Adam Koch, Stacy Simmons, Scott Simmons, Matthew Simmons, and Amy Simmons; great-grandhcildren, Ryan Simmons, Jenna Simmons, Timothy Smith, Jacob Koch, Kayle Koch and Logan Koch.
Funeral services were held Monday at Trinity Assembly of god in Lanham, MD. Burial will be at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD on Friday, Jan. 21.
Beall Funeral Home of Bowie MD, was in charge of arrangements.
