Gerald R. Mallow, 83, Upper Tract, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

Mr. Mallow was born June 20, 1917, in Franklin and was a son of the late Jay M. Mallow and Sylva Harman Mallow.

He was a supervisor for the West Virginia Department of Highways, a farmer and aided farmers with veterinary work.

Mr. Mallow was a member of Mount Hope Lutheran Church. He was a veteran having served in the Army Medical Corps. during World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Clara Gill Mallow, whom he married Jan. 14, 1949; a daughter, Ann Kielar, Upper Tract; two sons, Jerry L. Mallow, Upper Tract, and Gary J. Mallow, Kingwood; two brothers, Richard D. Mallow, Harrisonburg, VA, and Ralph H. Mallow, Franklin, and six grandsons.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters.

Pastor Mary Poston conducted the funeral at 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Hope Lutheran Church in Upper Tract. Burial was in Mount Hope Lutheran Church Cemetery, Upper Tract.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.

Margie "Tinnie" Phares Harrell, 53, Burlington, NC, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at home after three years failing health, one week critical.

A native of Keyser, she was the wife of Charles Herbert Harrell, who survives, and the daughter of the late Ernest Elwood Phares and Mrs. Imogene "Jean" Hinkle Phares, formerly of Kline, who survives.

She was employed by the Gibsonville Police Department for more than seven years. She was active in the senior citizen program operated by the department. She had worked as an assistant with the department's Explorer program. She attended Altamahaw Baptist Church.

Survivors other than her husband of the home and mother of Burlington include two daughters, Suzette Walker of Elon College, NC, and Mrs. Mindy Jo (Brent) Harrell Lawrence of Burlington, NC; a son , Mr. Ernest Mark Harrell of Burlington, NC; and two sisters, Mrs. Linda "Lynn" Bruner and Mrs. Wendy (Aaron) Lynch, both of Elon College, NC.

The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Dec. 27 at Altamahaw Baptist Church by the Rev. Walter Jones, pastor. Burial was in Gibsonville City Cemetery.

Rosa Regina Rivera, 76, Brandywine, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at her home.

Mrs. Rivera was born Feb. 6, 1924, in Philadelphia, PA, and was a daughter of the late Frank Luciani and Gilda Lupparilli Luciani.

She was a sewing machine operator and a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.

Her husband, Hector Rivera Tobar, died in June, 1998.

She is survived by two daughters, Michelina "Mickie" Ceely, Brandywine, and Rita Canfield, Ash, NC; a sister, Lucy DeMarco, Poughkeepsie, NY; four grandchildren, Richard Ceely, Jr., Nicole Heavener, Tammy Galey and Grant Canfield IV; and six great-grandchildren, Nicholas Anderson, Amber Ceely, Brooke Heavener, Daniel Heavener, Timothy Heavener and Alex Canfield.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Rudolph and Frank.

Father Mario Claro conducted a Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.

At her request, her body was cremated.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Hospice Unit of Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg.

Tena Catherine Warner, 86, Buckhannon, and formerly of Glady, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

Mrs. Warner was born June 25, 1914, in Riverton and was the daughter of the late Olie and Tina Warner Judy.

She was a Christian by faith.

On March 14, 1934, she married Emory J. Warner, who died April 19, 1994.

She is survived by seven sons, O. Bardon Warner, Bluegrass, VA, Emory M. Warner, Green Bank, Harlan R. and Eugene L. Warner, both of Beverly, Roy W. and Stephen R. Warner, both of Elkins, and Kenneth P. Warner, Marlinton; four daughters, Ina Pitsenbarger, Monterey, VA, Mary Tenney, Buckhannon, and Linda S. Cross and Kitty Ball, both of Elkins; one step-daughter, Marie O'Roark, Mount Sidney, VA; a sister, Virgie Nelson, Franklin; 30 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Her body was taken to Destiny Tabernacle of Praise Church, Elkins, on Tuesday, where Pastor Joey Ridenour conducted the funeral at 1 p.m. Burial followed at the Judy Gap Cemetery at Judy Gap.

The Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins was in charge of the arrangements.

Robert Lee Twigg, 54, of Baltimore, MD, died Dec. 27, 2000.

He was born June 19, 1946.

Surviving are his wife, Eva Mae Propst Twigg, formerly of Moyers; daughter, Tammy Twigg of Baltimore, MD, mother, Thelma Twigg of Cumberland, MD; sister, Mary Emerick of Cumberland, MD; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gilbert and Geneiva Twigg of West Virginia and Kenny and Ginger Twigg of Cumberland, MD, brother-in-law, Joe Propst of Moyers; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the Evans Chapel in Parkville, MD, Jan. 2, 2001. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland, MD.

Dallas Wayne Prunty, 62, Pendleton Nursing Home, Franklin, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

Mr. Prunty was born Dec. 29, 1938, in Exchange and was the son of Letha Prunty Heller, Oxford, OH.

He was an Army veteran and had been employed at Wampler Foods in Harrisonburg, VA, several years ago. He was a Baptist.

Surviving are two sons, Michael Wayne Prunty and Dallas Wayne Prunty, Jr., both of Maryland; a sister, Donna Macintosh, Hamilton, OH; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Susie Hess and Pam Wilson, both of Franklin.

His body was cremated and burial was in Braxton County.

Treston P. Lambert, 95, Akron, OH, died unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, in Akron, OH.

He was born May 28, 1905, in Circleville, a son of the late William Arthur and Nelie Ann Lambert.

He worked for the Pocahontas Tanning Company in Frank for 25 years before moving to Akron, OH, where he retired from Ken Tool Company after 24 years of service. He was a member of Northwest Avenue Church of Christ in Tallmadge, OH.

He is survived by his wife of 51-1/2 years, Almeda Marie Montgomery Lambert; two daughters, Linda Yazvac and Edna Lambert and their nine children and nine grandchildren; one adopted daughter, Lora Anna Shrader Tatum Wilson and her three children and five grandchildren; and two brothers, Odeth and Virgil Lambert.

He was preceded in death by a grandson , Kyle Yazvac, six sisters, four brothers and former wife, Marie Nelson Lambert Claypool.

Pastor Kenneth Baldwin conducted the funeral at 10 a.m. Dec. 6 at the Newcomer-Farley Funeral Home. Interment was at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.

Everette "Abe" Pitsenbarger, 83, Landover Hills, MD, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001.

Mr. Pitsenbarger was born Sept. 9, 1917, in Franklin and was the son of the late Jesse and Lena Pitsenbarger.

He is survived by his wife, Helon Pitsenbarger; three children, Linda Weedon, Mary Helen Ziehl and Joyce Sheffer; a sister, Wilma Wollcki; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Jan. 2. At Ascension Lutheran Church, Landover, MD.

A graveside service was held at 1 p.m. Jan. 3 at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Sugar Grove.

Dorothy Ann Alt Judy, 87, Sandston, VA, and formerly of Upper Tract, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at Ashland, VA, where she had lived since June.

Mrs. Judy was born Feb. 21, 1913, in Petersburg and was a daughter of the late Martin G. and Hannah Rebecca Susan Borror Alt.

She had lived with her daughter, Norma Brown, in Sandston, VA, for the past five years. She was a member of Brushy Run Church of God in Upper Tract.

Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Jesse L. Judy; three sons, Berlan Judy, Moorefield, Elden Judy, Petersburg, and L. Paul Judy, Upper Tract; three daughters, Norma Brown, Sandston, VA, Brenda Cook, Upper Tract, and Neva Myers, Culpeper, VA; two step-daughters, Freda Alt, Baltimore, MD, and Elaine Shreve, Upper Tract; a sister, Dora Yokum, Landes; 11 grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, 14 step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The Revs. Bruce Cosner and Joseph Eversole conducted the funeral at 11 a.m. Monday at Brushy Run Church of God. Burial was at Cherry Hill Cemetery in Upper Tract.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or a charity of choice.
