Keith Lynn Stump

Keith Lynn Stump, 45, of Petersburg passed away Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at his residence with his wife by his side.

He was born July 31, 1964, in Petersburg and was the son of the late Raymond and Velma (Alt) Stump.

Mr. Stump graduated from Petersburg High School in 1982.  He was a former employee of Hanover Shoe of Franklin and CMC of Mt. Storm.  He was a member of National Wild Turkey Federation.  He attended the Bethel Church of the Brethren.

His wife of 16 and one-half years, Rhonda A. (Hoover) Stump, survives.

Also surviving are one son, Matthew Stump of Petersburg; one step-daughter, Tasha Mongold and Tim Hartman of Brandywine; two step-grandchildren: Blake Mongold and Ella Grace Hartman; one sister: Peggy Hughes and husband, Dick of Petersburg; two brothers: Delbert Stump and Randy Stump and wife, Kathy, all of Petersburg; sister-in-law: Karen Simon and husband, Larry of Franklin; father and mother-in-law, Woody and Libby Hoover of Brandywine; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Debra (Stump) Bennett.

Funeral services were held Thursday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, with Pastor Greg Rotruck and Pastor Rob Borror officiating.  Interment followed in the Keith Stump Family Cemetery, Petersburg.

Bonnie Gae Turner

Bonnie Gae (Miller) Turner, 84, of Franklin and formerly of Seneca Rocks, died Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, VA.

She was born Dec. 25, 1925, in Seneca Rocks and was the daughter of the late Scott Miller and Martha (Wolford) Miller.

Her husband, Robert H. Turner, Sr., preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 1989.

Mrs. Turner was a homemaker and a member of Friends Run Brethren Church, Franklin.

Surviving are three sons, Robert H. "Bobby" Turner, Jr., of Winchester, VA, Tony Turner of Charleston and Tom Turner of Franklin; four daughters: Vickie Vance of Elkins, Roxanna Dillard of Richmond, VA, Penny Simonetti-Chapman of Mt Sidney, VA, and Sondra McCrackin of Mechanicsville, VA; three sisters: Betty Jowers of Tarpon Springs, FL, Shirley Tanko of St. Petersburg, FL, and Chloe Turner of Maysville; one brother, Hoover Miller of Seneca Rocks; 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded by one son, Steve Turner; one daughter, Louise Vance; infant great-granddaughter, Sasha O'Neal; four brothers, Glenn, Mason, Denton and Scott Miller, Jr.; five sisters, Nola Dieter, Bessie Sites, Nellie Berg, infant Pearl Miller and Ruth Champ.

Funeral services were held Dec. 30 at Schaeffer Funeral Home Chapel, Petersburg, with Pastor Paul O'Gorek officiating.  Interment was in North Fork Memorial Cemetery, Riverton.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.

Mary Edith Baldwin

Mary Edith Baldwin, 94, of Brandywine went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at her home.

She was born on Jan. 22, 1915, in Brandywine to the late Timothy T. and Lona Hoover.

She attended school at the Broad Run School, a one-room school.  She was a member of the Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Brandywine.

Mrs. Baldwin was united in marriage to Edward Seymore, who preceded her in death in 1937.  On Dec. 13, 1937, she was united in marriage to Luther A. Baldwin, who preceded her in death on June 28, 1987.

Surviving are two daughters, Loralee Gordon and husband, Rodger of Charlottesville, VA, and Eleanor Simmons and husband, Richard of Brandywine; two sons, Vernon (Fuzz) Baldwin and wife, Betty of Brandywine, and Luther Glenn Baldwin and companion, Julie of Dayton, VA;  11 grandchildren, Mona Reedy, Timothy Baldwin, Durwin Shull, Delbert Baldwin, Barry Gordon, Vernon (Dink) Baldwin, Jeffrey Simmons, Kenneth Simmons, Gregory Simmons, Douglas Marsh and Dawn Smith; 22 great-grandchildren, Jeni Simmons, Brandon Simmons, Nichole Comer, Stephanie Amick, KJ Simmons, Emily Simmons, Lindsey Simmons, Brianna Simmons, Eric Rhodes, Austin Holland, Brendon Baldwin, Alyssa Baldwin, Grace Gordon, Graham Gordon, April Baldwin, Anne Lea Kile, Dallas Baldwin, Daniel Reedy, Jessica Shull, Justin Shull, Cecalia Shifflet and William Amick; six great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Leola Snyder and Naomi Michael, both of Brandywine, and Velma Gillispie, Columbus, OH.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Nellie Gay Baldwin; a son, Delbert Gene Baldwin; a grandson, Landon Glenn Baldwin; a great-great-grandson; two brothers, Roy Hoover and Herbert Hoover; two sisters, Bessie Smith and Beulah Propst; and one daughter-in-law, Dorothy Lee Baldwin.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Basagic Funeral Home, Franklin, with Rev. Harold Cullers officiating.  Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery, Brandywine.

Memorials may be made to South Fork Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad.

Eleanor Dawson, 79

Eleanor M. Dawson, 79, of Petersburg died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, in Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA.

She was born Sept. 5, 1930, in Upper Tract and was the daughter of the late Daniel Judy and Eula (Sears) Judy Parker.

Mrs. Dawson was a member of the Grove Street United Methodist Church, Petersburg.  She was a life member of the Potomac Highlands Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Post 6454 and the Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Post 78.  She was the past state president of the WV Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW from 1983 to 1984.

Surviving are one son, Daniel O. Dawson of Fort Ashby; three daughters, Judy Lynn Fisher of Berkeley Springs, Brenda E. McCartney of Oakland, MD, and Regina A. Weatherholtz of Lahmansville; several grandchildren; and great grandchildren; and one sister, Martha Runions of Lahmansville.

She was also preceded in death by her step-father, Ralph Parker; one brother, Paul Judy; and one sister, Denisa "Boots" Alt.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, with Rev. William R. Brown officiating.  Interment was in the South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens, Petersburg.

The VFW Ladies Auxiliary conducted a memorial service on Monday at the funeral home.

Ronald Lee “Ronnie” Reel

Ronald Lee “Ronnie” Reel, 66, of Petersburg passed away Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg.

Born March 9, 1943, in Petersburg, he was the son of Nora Reel, Petersburg.

Mr. Reel retired from Straub Honda, Wheeling, and worked in auto body and painting.

Surviving, besides his mother, are his fiance, Kathy Marriner, Petersburg; three daughters, Stacy Vance and husband, Cam of Petersburg, Starlene Jividen, Bridgeport, OH, and Dawn Borosko and husband, Raymond of Lorain, OH; two sons, Clifford Reel and wife, Terri of Mt. Crawford, VA, and Wilson Reel and wife, Amy, of Elkton, VA; one sister, Linda Borror, Petersburg; two brothers, Lee Reel, Petersburg, and Wayne Reel, Riverton; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sheila Reel.

Rev. James Ash conducted funeral services on Dec. 31, 2009, at the Chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home, Petersburg.  Burial was at Cherry Hill Cemetery, Upper Tract.

William Lantz, 64

William Edgar Lantz, 64, a resident of Franklin, passed away Tuesday Dec. 15, 2009, in the Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, VA.

He was born April 14, 1945, in Cassidy, a son of the late Howard Riley and Mary Olive (Knotts) Lantz.

Mr. Lantz worked as an assembler for the Hanover Shoe Company.  He enjoyed bowling and was an avid hunter.

Surviving are one daughter, Kimberly Lantz; three sons, William "Billy" Lantz and Samuel "Sammy" Lantz, all of California, and Ronald Lantz of West Virginia; two sisters, Alma Marcho of Philippi and Barbara Bragg of Belington; two brothers, Jimmy Lantz of Chantilly, VA, and John Lantz of Buckhannon; several nieces and nephews; and one grandchild.

He was also preceded in death by two half-brothers; Richard and Wilbur Lantz.

Funeral services were held Dec. 18, 2009, at the Wright Funeral Home, Philippi, with Rev. David Jessie officiating.  Interment followed in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Hinkleville.

Murray Dasher, 74

Murray Ronald Dasher, 74, of Chantilly, VA, passed this life on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, at Prince William Hospital in Manassas,VA.

Born on May 13, 1935, he was the son of the late Noah George Dasher and Clara Shaver Dasher.

His wife, Dianne Hinkle Dasher of Chantilly, VA, survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Marcela Willmore of Buffalo, NY, and Angela Purdy of South Riding, VA; one son, Joseph Dasher of Chantilly, VA; two sisters, Margaret Rexrode of Brandywine and Ann Knupp of Bridgewater, VA; three brothers, Harry Dasher of Brookfield, WI, Roy Dasher of Albany, OR, and George Dasher of Milam; and six grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one brother.

Funeral services were conducted at the Elmore Funeral Home, Moorefield, on Dec. 20, 2009, with Pastors Lucy and Russell Webster officiating.  Burial followed at the Olivet Cemetery in Moorefield.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Foundation or charity of choice.
