Robert B. Wimer 

Robert Barth Wimer, 86, of Franklin and formerly of Cherry Grove, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at the Pendleton Nursing Home in Franklin.

Mr. Wimer was born Oct. 21, 1919, in Cherry Grove and was the son of the late Robert E. and Lula Nelson Wimer.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. In 1981, he retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways where he had worked for 11 years and was a farmer.

He married Audrey Fern Fleisher, who preceded him in death, Jun 11, 1997.

He was the last member of his immediate family.

Surviving are two daughters, Judy Thompson of Winchester, VA, and Wilma Lambert of Signers Glen, VA; two sons, William Robert "Billy" Wimer of Cherry Grove and Denny Gene Wimer of Durbin; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one grandchild, Rebecca Beth Wimer; two brothers, Marshall Wimer and Cam Wimer; and one sister, Donna Pitsenbarger.

The Rev. Stanley Kile conducted the funeral Saturday in the chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin.  Burial with military graveside rites by the Pendleton county Veterans Honor Guard, was in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin.

Irene Grace Berg, 83

Irene Grace Berg, 83, of Maysville, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006, at her home.

She was born June 24, 1922, in Smoke Hole and  was the daughter of the late Lottie (Alt) Reel Hockman.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Bethel Pentecostal Church, Petersburg.

Surviving are five sons, Jack D. Berg and Delmer R. Berg, both of Petersburg and the Rev. Lyle W. Berg Sr., Rusty A. Berg and Danny W. Berg, all of Maysville; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ann Hesse of Maysville and Louella Rodgers of Annandale, VA.

She also is preceded in death by two sons, Raymond Ebert Berg and Roger Lee Berg Sr.; one daughter, Thera Mae "Sudie" Berg; two grandsons, Roger Lee Berg Jr. and Roger Wayne Berg and two brothers, Ralph "Dick" Alt Sr. and Charles "June" Reel Jr.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday in the chapel of the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, with Rev. Jim Vance and Rev. Joseph Eversole officiating.  Interment followed in Berg Family Cemetery, Maysville.

Mack McDonald

Mack McDonald, age 90, died at Alexandria Hospital, Alexandria, VA, on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005.  His wife, son and daughter were with him at the time of his passing. 

Mr. McDonald was born on June 14, 1915, in Key.  He was the son of the late Job McDonald and Amanda Rexroad McDonald.

For approximately 20 years, Mr. McDonald was an insulation engineer for the Hearn Co.  Later, he became a self-employed contractor and started his own successful business.  McDonald's Home Improvements, until his retirement.  He was a member of the Arlington  Assembly of god Church, Arlington, VA, for 50 years and served as an usher for 45 years.  He was a  Gideon for many years and enjoyed distributing the Gideon Testament in high schools, shopping centers, colleges and nursing homes.  Mr. McDonald was a WWII veteran.  He is survived by his wife, Rev. Patsy McDonald,; a son, Ron McDonald of Arlington, VA; a daughter, Barbara Levine of Florida; and a brother Stern McDonald of Levels.  

He was predeceased by his late son, Larry McDonald, formerly of Greenville, SC, and his brother Wade McDonald.

Mr. McDonald often shared fond memories with his family and friends about his beloved West Virginia. 

Pastor Neubauer conducted funeral services at the Arlington Assembly of God on Dec. 19, 2005.  Interment followed at National Memorial Cemetery in Falls Church, VA. 

 Funeral arrangements were handled by Arlington Funeral Home.

Ada V. Simpson

Ada Virginia Simpson, 79, of Laurel, MD, and fomerly of of Franklin died Dec.14, 2005, at Holy Cross Hospital in silver Spring, MD after a long illness.

She was born Sept. 30, 1926, at Cave and was the daughter of the late Lee Moyers and Judith (Mullenax) Moyers of Franklin.

Surviving are her husband of 31 years, Samuel Simposn of Laurel, MD; one sons James Pupo of Pennsylvania; six daughters, Virginia Quinn of Keller, TX, Linda Corridon of Columbia, MD, Anette Hess, Sandra Lupes, Judith Cannon and Danielle Bestow of Pennsylvania; 14 grandchildren,; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy M. Nelson of Riverton'; and one brother, Charles E. Moyers of Cabins. 

Also preceding her in death were two husbands, James Pupo and Daniel Duprinzio; one son, William Pupo, three brothers, Melvin, Bobby and Glen Moyers; and two sisters, Sally and Rosalee Moyers.

Funeral services were held in the Vermillion Chapel at Kaufman Funeral Home with burial in Meadowridge Memorial Park, Elkridge, MD.

Memorial contributions may be made tot he Lanham, MD, congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, Princess Garden Parkway, Lanham, MD  20706. 

Mary C. Helmick, 74

Mary Catherine Helmick, 74, of Harrisonburg, VA, died Dec. 21, 2005, in the emergency room at Rockingham Memorial  Hospital, Harrisonburg, VA. 

She was born Feb. 2, 1931, in Kline, a duaghter of George R. and Mary Jane Cook Kesner.

She was a nurse's aide and a member of Palmyra Church of the Brethren. 

On Dec. 29, 1971, she married Albert M. Helmick, who died Mary 18, 1981. 

Survivors include three sons, Ronald Lee and William Edward Pence, both of Harrisonburg, VA, and Richard Henry Pence of Broadway, VA; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. 

The Rev. John Estep conducted a graveside service Dec. 24, 2005, in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg, VA.  ]

The casket was closed.

Weldon C. Ruddle, 81

Weldon C. Ruddle, 81, of Fort Seybert died Monday, Jan. 2, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonbrug, VA. 

He was born March 31, 1924 at Oak Flat and was the son of the late Byrd Ruddle and Mary Vesta Anderson Ruddle. 

Mr. Ruddle was a farmer and a member of Brandywine Christian church. 

He never married.  

Surviving are two sisters, Mable Elyard of Franklin and Kathleen Furgson of Livingston, TN; one brother, Arlie Ruddle of Fort Seybert; and two half brothers, Carl Simon of Harrisonburg, VA, and Bob Simon of Fort Seybert. 

He was also preceded in death by one brother, William; and one sister, Annie. 

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Kimble Funeral Home chapel in Franklin with Rev. Shyrl Smith officiating.  Burial was at Pine Hill Cemetery at Brandywine.
