MACE, DAYTON E.

Spring Hill, Fla. - Dayton E. Mace, 65, 1934 -1999, of Spring Hill, formerly of Sissonville, W.Va., died Aug. 7, 1999, at home after a short illness. He was former owner of Mace Orthopedics, Charleston, W.Va., attended Highlawn Baptist Church and a member of Lord's Messingers Quartet, Sissonville. He was born in Elkview, W.Va., and was a five-year resident of Florida and an Army veteran of the Korean War. Surviving: wife, Joyce Mace; daughter, Pam Frazier of Nitro, W.Va.; son, Steve Mace of Spring Hill; sister, Opal Hackney of Tampa; brothers, Arthur Mace of Florida, Ronald Mace of Titusville; two granddaughters. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Floral Hills Gardens of Memories, Sissonville, with the Rev. Billy Casto and the Rev. BillyJackson officiating. Entombment will follow. There will be no visitation. Snodgrass Funeral Home, South Charleston, W.Va., is in charge of arrangements. Dayton's parents were: Cecil & Sylvia Myrtle Tolley Mace

Mallory, Joseph P.

The Charleston Gazette, Sunday, November 10, 1946 page 28. Joseph P. Malloy - 41, 854 Matthews Ave. died early yesterday morning after a long illness. He was formerly employed as an instrument man with Carbide and Carbon Chemicals Corp. Mr. Malloy came to Charleston   from Clarksburg several years ago. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Surviving are his   wife, Mrs. Dorothy Malloy; his father, john J. Malloy of Clarksburg; six brothers, Paul of Cleveland, Ohio;   Frank of Cincinnati Ohio; Edward and James of Clarksburg; and John of Washington, D.C. The body is at   the Simpson mortuary.

MARTIN, BASHEBA

Pioneer of Cass County Iowa is Dead Obituary of the Late Mrs. Basheba Martin. Was a resident of this county for many years. Miss Basheba White was born near Charlestown(now Charleston), in Know (Kanawha) county, Virginia on February 24th, 1822 and died at the home of her Daughter-in-law, Mrs. John M. Martin, on September 15th, 1913, after an illness of about three months. The funeral services were held at her late home on Wednesday, September 17th at 2 o'clock, P.M. and were conducted by Rev. P.A. Rickel, the interment being in Lincoln Center Cemetery beside her husband who had preceded her to the better world a little over thirteen years before. She was married at the place of her birth, on April 10th, 1836, to Eli Martin and the following October moved with her husband to near Brookville, in Franklin County, Indiana, where they resided on a farm until 1850 when they came to Iowa, locating near Bellview, Jackson County and in 1873 coming to Cass County and locating just South of Lincoln Center in Lincoln Township, where they lived until her husband's death. In 1903 Mrs. Martin went with her son John and wife to Windsor, Missouri and in 1909 returned with him and his wife to Iowa and made her home with them in Anita up to her death. Mrs Martin lived to a good old age, being at the time of her death, 91 years, 7 months and 11 days of age and during all that time lived a cheerful and industrious, Christian life, having, at the age of fifteen, united with the Baptist Church of which denomination she remained a consistent member until her final passing to the world above, Mrs Martin was a loving and patient mother and wife, a kind friend and an obliging neighbor to whom no one applied for aid in vain. To her union with Mr. Martin were born eleven children, five of whom passed on before, those remaining to mourn her loss being, Mrs Mary J. King, of Payette, Idaho, Mrs. Maria Speer and Mrs Bertha Steinmetz of Anita, Henry Martin of Willford, Arkansas, Mrs. Docia Miles at the Soldiers Home, Minnehaha Falls, Minnesota, and Elma Saunders of Anita. She also leaves twenty-one grandchildren, thirty four great grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren, scattered through many of the states and in Canada, among those living here being, A.H. Steinmetz and family, Eli King and family and some of the children of William Speer and wife. The surviving relatives will have the sympathy of their many friends in their loss although they feel that she is at rest after a life well spent.

McCormick, George Matt

April 11, 1975..George Matt McCormick, 87, of 5078 Big Tyler Rd., died Thursday in Thomas Memorial Hospital. A member of the Baber Agee United Methodist Church at Rocky Fork, he was a retired employee   of Appalachian Power Co. Surviving: wife, Bertha J. McCormick, daughter Mrs. Della K. Tate of Thurman, Ohio; sons, Carl R. and Virgil W. of Rocky Fork, and F. Lester of Mesa, Arizona, ; sister, Mrs. Ernie Higginbotham   of Red House. Service will be 2 p.m., Saturday in the Gatens Funeral Home, Poca, with the Rev. Bertram Young   officiating. Burial will be in Garnett Cemetary, Rocky Fork Rd.   Friends may call after 2 p.m. today.

Charleston Gazette 1-23-1930�Aged Pastor Is Killed by Train�The Rev E N Mills, 74 years old, veteran pastor of the Church of Christ at Calvert, near St Albans on Coal River, was instantly killed when struck by a Chesapeake and Ohio freight train shortly after noon yesterday near his home. He was returning from a call upon a member of his congregation�..A coroner's jury found that the accident was unavoidable and exonerated the train crew. The slippery ice on the railway crossing and the advanced years of the veteran minister were held to be responsible for the tragedy�He is survived by his widow and 9 children. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Saturday at the Aimwell chapel, Calvert.

Moore, Mrs. Osa

Mrs. Osa Emogene Moore, 61, of 417 Pacific St., died on arrival at Charleston General Hospital Sunday. She is survived by her husband, Robie; son, Doyle of Charleston; daughters, Mrs. Maxine Shaffer and Mrs. Dorothy R. Affolter of Charleston, brother, Virgil of Charleston: sister, Mrs. Mildred Spencer of Frame. The Service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Cunningham Funeral Home, the Rev. Earl G. Hissom officiating. Burial will be in the John Beane Cemetery in Sissonville.

MOORE, REV GEORGE W

(Charleston Gazette Monday May 4, 1931) Rev George W. Moore ,Charleston evangelist, died yesterday morning in his home at 1048 Charleston street. Mr. Moore a native of Kanawha County, was born September 30,1867, eldest son of the Rev. and Mrs. J. W. Moore. he was educated in the public schools and became interested in evangelist work in the winter of 1885 when he was connected with a revival conducted by Rev. Samuel Harkins at Tuppers Creek. He took a ministerial course of the Methodist school and later of the Moody Bible institute. He entered the Ministry under the auspices of the Baptist denomination and held pastorates at a number of points in the Kanawha Valley. In 1902 at the state conference of the West Virginia Advent Christian denomination, he entered the ministry of that church and began his evangelistic work, at the same time holding pastorates at Locust Grove, Coopers Creek, Sandy Knob, Walton, Charleston, Roseville, Huntington, And Kingston. He traveled westward in his work to Ohio, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, and Idaho. as his revival demands became more pressing, he gave up all his pastorates except Kingston which he held to the time of his death. He married Matilda Jane Underwood on March 2.1890 she and five of their eight children survive him. They are Mrs Altha Baxter of Ambrosia, John W. Moore of Charleston, Mrs Virginia Archer of Dunbar, Grant Moore of Charleston, and Mrs Lucille Dunkard of Baltimore, MD Two Brothers J.J. and Rev. J.P. Moore also survive him. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock with services in the First Advent Christian Church. The body will lie in state in the church from noon. The Rev. J. Fremont Whitman will be assisted in the services by Wilber Spencer, President of the state conference. The active pallbearers will be J.V. Jordan, Frank Woodrum, Wilbur Stump, S. M. Hanna, William Adkins, and John W. Brookman. Honorary pallbearers will be A.J. Humphreys, William B. Hobbs, Robert Jones, A. J. Wilkinson, C.W. Good, W.H. O'Dell, Homer W. Hanna, Carl H. Beane, F. M. Exline and Dr. R. E. Woodall.

MOORE, REV J PETER

(The Charleston Gazette Wednesday, June 15,1932) While on his way to help his son in a field near his home, The Rev. J. Peter Moore of Coopers Creek died suddenly of a heart disease yesterday morning. He was well known throughout the rural sections of southern West Virginia. The Rev. Mr. Moore who was 58 years old, had been a minister nearly 40 years, Although he was not feeling well yesterday morning he went to the field where his son was operating a mowing machine. He was stricken after he climbed to the top of a hill. Besides his widow, Mrs Sara Elizabeth Moore. he is survived by four daughters, Mrs Jack Chower, Mrs Samuel Layne, Mrs. Cecil Allens, and miss Opel Moore; three sons. Delbert, Frank, and Noble Moore, and a brother James Moore. The Body will remain at the Bartlett undertaking company until Wednesday.

MOORE, SILBY

( The Charleston Gazette Sunday May 20, 1923) A triple burial service will take place at spring hill cemetery Wednesday afternoon, when three sisters, misses Silby, Sybil, and Myrtle Moore will be buried in the same plot, The sisters are children of Rev. and Mrs G.W. Moore of 504 Ohio Avenue. Miss Silby Moore died on Sunday evening. February 11, at the home of her parents. Since February 13 she has been held at the Mausoleum at the cemetery, while her sister have been buried for some years out in the country several miles from Charleston. Miss Sybil has been dead for 22 years and Miss Myrtle for 10 years. The former was buried on Tuppers Creek, Poca District, and the latter on Cooper's Creek. Elk district. The funeral and burial services of Miss Silby Moore will take place on the day set for her wedding to Mr A. E. Cavender of Charleston. Dr. O.R. Jenks President of Aurora College, Aurora Illinois. will preach the funeral at 2 O�clock near the Mausoleum at the cemetery. Miss Silby Moore was a member of the Randolph street Adventist Christian Church , and she was very active in Sunday School and other church affairs. She is survived by her parents, Rev. and Mrs G. W. Moore; three sisters, Mrs Altha Baxter of Ambrosia, Mrs Virgie Archer and Miss Lucille Moore of Charleston; two brothers John W. and Grant Moore Of Charleston.

Morris, Clayborne B.

Clayborne B. Morris, 29 years old, died at his home, 2416 Crescent road, yesterday. He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Ella Morris; two daughters, Marjorie and Ruth Lucile Morris; his mother, Mrs. Emma Morris; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Morris and five brothers, Russell Morris of Buckhannon; Harry Morris, Fred Morris of Charleston, Emerson Morris of Toronto, O., and Dale Morris of Charleston. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
