APPRAISEMENT AND SALE BILL OF THE ESTATE

OF NEHEMIAH WOOD

At a Court held for Kanawha County at the Court House thereof on Monday the 8th day of August 1825.

This appraisement of the estate of Nehemiah Wood decd amounting to $1925. Was this day presented in Court and ordered to be recorded.

In Pursuant to an order of the County Court of Kanawha County held at the Court on the 14th day of June, 1826, and directed to us James Wilson, W R Cox, Walter Trimble, James Bream, and George H. Patrick or any there of them and in obediance to said order we the undersigned being first duly sworn have proceeded to appraise the following slaves belonging to the Estate of Nehemiah Wood deck and report as follows

1 negro man named Edmund aged 22 $400.00

1 negro woman named Maria agee 45 $200.00

1 negro boy named Nelson aged 18 $400.00

1 negro girl named Nancy aged 15 $300.00

1 negro girl named Sarah aged 12 $250.00

1 negro girl named Felina aged 9 $150.00

1 negro girl named Jane aged 4 $125.00

1 negro boy named Charles aged 1 $100.00

And at a court held as aforesaid

This sale Bill of the Estate of Jehemiah Wood decd amounting to $2,005 was this day presented in court and ordered to be recorded.

An inventory of the amount of the estate of Jehemiah Wood deceased by Daniel Ruffner & Noah the administrator of said Estate to Wit

A Negro boy Edmund sold to R. Cox for $395.00

A negro boy Nelson sold to James Hougs $400.00

Sarah & Felena sold to James Staton $562.00

Nancy sold to John Bartlett $320.00

Jane sold to Jam.. Morris $162.00

The above property sold at public auction to the highest bidder payable by instalments as follows one third in hand, one third in six months and the residue in 12 months. On which the administrators have received $1,645.33. The residue is still in the hands of the purchasers.
