Will of Elizabeth Thomas

I Elizabeth Thomas considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound mind and memory, do make and publish this my last will and testement in manner and form following that is to say; 1st I give and bequeath to my beloved son and daughter James M. Thomas and Caroline E. Thomas, my tract of land lying on the Kanawha River and in the county of Kanawha, state of West Virginia and containing two hundred and fifty acres, it being the same land given to me by my beloved husband Col. Lindsey Thomas in his last will and testement. I desire that the above mentioned land be equally divided between the above named son and daughter and I give and bequeath my tract of land known as "Spring Hill" containing ninty acres more or less with all the remainder of my personal estate, goods, and chattles of what kind - nature, I give and bequeath to my neice Maria J. Thomas, daughter of David S. Thomas and Caroline E. Thomas and further desire that my executor and executrix have or cause to be erected two monuments, one in memory to my departed husband Col. Lindsey Thomas and the other to my departed son Joseph C. Thomas. And ----Further that before this above named property be divided as directed in this my last will and testement, that all my honest debts be paid and my funeral and burial expenses be paid and I hereby appoint as sole executor and executrix of this my last will and testement James M. Thomas as executor and Caroline E. Thomas as executrix, revoking all others. In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this seventh day of January in the year of our lord Eighteen Hundred and Sixty Eight.
