John B. Floyd, Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia:

To all whom these Presents shall come � Greeting: KNOW YE, That in conformity with a survey made on the Seventeenth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and forty nine by virtue of Land Office Treasury Warrant No. 12370 there is granted by the said Commonwealth unto Meredith Pauley a certain Tract or Parcel of Land containing one hundred thirty-two acres, lying being in the County of Kanawha, on the waters of Davis Creek and Crooked Creek bounded as follows, viz: beginning at a white oak corner of Zeke Mace�s survey thence with two of his lines S 70 E 34 poles to two black locusts S 33 E 55 poles to a white oak and beech. Thence with A. W. Quarrier�s survey S 32� W 43 poles to a white oak corner to L. Pauley & with his lines S 73� W 36 poles to a large pine. Thence leaving Pauley�s survey S 75 W 10 poles to a white oak. Thence N 77 W 138 poles to a white oak on a hillside S39� W 16 poles to a white oak corner to a survey of Wm. Duncans. Thence N 25 E 39 poles to a sugar tree on a branch. Thence with another of Duncan�s lines N. 61� W 96 poles to a white oak corner to Jonathan Miller and with his line N 18� E 34 poles to a maple and beech. Thence S 71�E 185 poles to the beginning with its appurtenences.

TO HAVE AND TO HOLD The said Tract or Parcel of Land with its appurtenances, to the said Meredith Pauley and his heirs forever.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, THE SAID John D. Floyd, Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, hath hereunto set his hand and caused the lesser Seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond, on the first day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty and of the Commonwealth seventy fourth.
