He married DRUSELLA RUCKER 1876 in Clendenin, Kanawha Co., WV, daughter of WILLIAM RUCKER and SARAH PRICE. Notes for JOHN FRANKLIN CAMP: (Original information regarding John Franklin Camp showed his death 27 Jan 1954...that would make him 102 at death. Information later from cousin Pamela Huffman Riffe that his death is 27 Jan 1926 is more likely, so I have chosen to use this date.} John was living in the Big Sandy District of Kanawha County in 1880. His granddaughter, Pearl Huffman Walker, said he said he was from Jackson Mills, which is in Lewis County. Lewis County was formed in 1816 from Harrison County. Pamela Huffman Riffe's mother, Loretta Huffman, said one time soon after she married Pamela's father, Granddad Camp was going to ride the bus to Charleston. He was about 85 at this time. She could not make him get off. She went to a neighbor's house and called her Pam's Aunt Pearl in Chesapeake. When the bus stopped in Chesapeake for passengers, Pearl made Granddad Camp get off the bus. "He must have been stubborn and strong-willed." He stayed with his daughter Lule (Sarah Lule) and her husband; they took care of him most of the time. Pam's father said he John Franklin Camp died a few months before his 102nd birthday. More About IDA ELLEN CAMP: Buried: October 1980, High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill Notes for WOOD GIVEN HUFFMAN: My original information showed HUFFMAN as Ted, but this is not my line, so I will yield to information supplied by a descendant, Pamela Huffman Riffe, and change to first name to Wood. BIRTH: The birth record gives Woods name as Wm. Hoffman. His parents as D.M. Hoffman and Mary M. Hoffman. Born on 6 Aug 1880 in the Walton District of Roane Co., WV. These are the correct parents for Wood and his brothers. It is also the correct year, according to information on his death record, so the conclusion is that his name is wrong on the birth register. The family lived in the Walton District of Roane Co., WV before moving to the Elk District of Kanawha County. CENSUS: 1900 WV Census, Wood, age 19 (list name as Woody G.) a farm laborer is living in the Elk District of Kanawha Co. with parents David (57) a wagon maker, and Mary (57), brothers Alexander (24) a farm laborer, Alonzo (22) a farm laborer, George (16) a farm laborer and Walter (15) a farm laborer. CENSUS: 1920 WV Census, Wood (age 37) and Idaho (age 27) rented their home in Putney Precinct of Kanawha County. Children listed as Otho (9), Orvil (6), Pearl (5-3/12), Willie (4-2/12), and Johnnie (1). A boarder named Joe Thompson (age 37) stayed with them. Wood was a coal miner with Truex Trailer Company. Joe was also listed as a coal miner working with the same company. DEATH: The Register of Deaths for Kanawha Co., WV, page 53 states that Wood Huffman diedl 1 Aug 1928 at the age of 48 years. He died at Charleston General Hospital of general peridonitis of the small bowelo and several ulcers. Information was supplied by A.R. Lutz, M.D. BURIAL: Wood was buried at the Reynolds Cemetery at Elkview. he did not have a marker for his grave. In 1996, Pam's father bought a stone marker and she, her father, and Wayne put it on the grave that her father and Aunt Pearl had picked out as the one that was Wood's. "Wayne took a five gallon can of water with us and cement. We dug a hole and filled it with rocks. We placed the marked on the rocks until it was level and where Dad said he wanted it. We poured cement over the rocks and up on the sides of the marker to cement it in place. After 68 years, Wood's youngest son, my Dad, finally marked his grave, so others may know where he is buried. Dad had tears in his eyes as we finished and he said he was sure glad to see his father's grave finally have a marker."
